The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two
Chapter 103: Ethan Grant and Wendy Bell Slept Together
CHAPTER 103: CHAPTER 103: ETHAN GRANT AND WENDY BELL SLEPT TOGETHER
"You can go find the surveillance footage yourself." Yvette took a deep breath, looking at Stellan.
There were surveillance cameras all around the entrance of Grant Group.
Since he suspected her, he should bring evidence to accuse her, instead of convicting her outright.
Yvette didn’t want to explain, because explanations were meaningless; when Stellan pushed her, it was already a conviction.
Stellan frowned, his gaze toward Yvette was somewhat complex.
"Let’s go." Henry attempted to hold Yvette’s hand, but she avoided him.
Yvette lowered her head in silence and got into Henry’s car.
Henry sighed; Yvette was indeed too stubborn.
Yet now he couldn’t bear to use too harsh methods on her.
With Summers in the mix, Yvette wouldn’t completely cut ties with him.
"Yvette, why did you suddenly think to come to Grant Group?" Henry was very concerned about Yvette going to Grant Group.
If Yvette could enter Grant Group, it must be because Ethan extended an olive branch.
But with Jayden and Melody at Grant Group, how could they let her stay there comfortably?
He wanted to hide her away, lock her up, but Henry understood Yvette’s temperament.
He could only let her know the difficulties and retreat.
"Grant Group is good, and they offered me a high salary." Yvette said softly.
"If you’re willing, you can come to my side, I can give you double the salary of what Grant Group is offering." Henry frowned.
"What position would I have beside you?" Yvette asked.
Henry was momentarily stunned.
Yvette had already been expelled from school, what could she do at Apex with just a high school diploma? "Just stay by my side, accompany me every day, be my assistant."
"An assistant doesn’t need such a high salary." Yvette quietly looked at Henry.
Henry was still treating her differently because he didn’t trust she could do the job well.
But Ethan trusted her.
This trust gave her peace of mind.
So she preferred to earn the normal salary for a job instead of double.
"Yvette, do you have to be so strong-willed?" Henry rubbed his temples. "The world is complicated, a big company is a microcosm of society, even more complex than society."
Henry was reluctant to let Yvette suffer more grievances.
Yvette hid her hands in her sleeves without speaking.
Henry reached out to her. "What’s wrong with your hands?"
Yvette shook her head, staying silent.
"Let me see." Henry grabbed Yvette’s wrist.
He forcibly pulled them over and found Yvette’s palms already scraped raw.
The blood had already dried in the cracks of her fingers.
Henry’s face darkened immediately, cursing under his breath, and he pulled out a first-aid kit from the car to treat Yvette’s wounds.
Yvette didn’t speak or make a sound throughout the process.
"Yvette, why do you have to endure these grievances? If you’re with me, obediently stay by my side, I won’t let you get hurt again, I won’t make the same mistake twice." Henry still couldn’t understand.
Yvette could have all the security he could offer just by staying with him, living a life of ease, why did she insist on making things so hard for herself?
"Staying with you, as your secret lover?" Yvette retorted.
Henry was taken aback, he hadn’t realized until now that Yvette’s words could be so sharp.
"Do you have to see it that way? My marriage with the Bell Family is just a partnership because of Grandfather." Henry explained.
Yvette understood what Henry meant. As long as the Jennings Family patriarch was alive, he couldn’t divorce Claudia and had to maintain that relationship.
But if the Jennings Family patriarch passed away, he would immediately divorce Claudia.
He wanted Yvette to wait, wait for the patriarch to die.
"If I follow you, even if the Jennings patriarch dies, you won’t marry me." Yvette knew.
Henry might divorce Claudia, but he would never give her a legitimate status.
"Is a status really that important? As long as I’m divorced from Claudia, you’re the only one beside me. Except for the lack of a marriage certificate, everything is yours." Henry rubbed his temples.
Yvette looked out the car window, feeling somewhat powerless.
Everything was hers, what was really hers?
Even Ethan knew only a marriage certificate would give her peace of mind to work together.
She laughed bitterly, feeling her eyes burn with unshed tears gathering there.
Her marriage with Ethan was also a contractual relationship.
Similar to Henry and Claudia.
In a way, it was quite pitiful.
But the security and respect Ethan could offer were things Henry couldn’t.
"You should think it through." Henry still wanted Yvette to understand.
Melody wouldn’t allow Yvette to stay at Grant Group, and Jayden would not let her off easily once he was out.
Then there was the Bell Family; Claudia would definitely cause trouble for Yvette after her release.
If Yvette wasn’t by his side, he feared she would get hurt.
"Henry, I have my own life to live. I have a son to raise, I have a brother, I’m a person..." Yvette was very grateful for Henry’s repeated help. "Status, marriage, they’re important to me, even if someone like me doesn’t deserve them."
Yvette had once often fantasized about her wedding day, wearing the most beautiful wedding gown.
Walking step by step on a path covered with roses, towards her lover, her husband.
However, that scene would never materialize because no man was willing to give her a status, or even a wedding.
Her secret marriage with Ethan was just a transaction.
Henry frowned, looking at Yvette, who clearly saw things clearly yet couldn’t fully grasp them.
After all, she had just come from within, with too little experience.
He could only painfully allow her to endure more suffering in the hopes she would truly understand that staying with him was the best choice.
"Do you really want to stay at Grant Group? Ethan won’t care for you." Henry sighed.
"I’ll give it my best." Yvette’s gaze was determined.
Henry felt a lump in his throat. "Call me immediately if anything happens. After seeing Holly, I’ll have Ben drive you back."
From Montville to Meridia, to avoid delaying tomorrow’s work, they had to take the highway and drive fast.
Yvette didn’t refuse, nodding in agreement.
...
Montville Hospital.
Ben had driven over four hours, leaving at 5:50 and arriving by 10:00 PM.
"Thank you for all your hard work..." Yvette walked to Ben’s side and thanked him softly.
"Ah, it’s nothing. You and President Jennings go on up. I’ll rest in the car for a while and drive you back later." Ben waved with a smile.
Seeing Yvette feeling ill at ease, Ben spoke again. "If you feel you’re troubling me, it should be morning by the time we reach Meridia, you can treat me to breakfast."
Yvette looked up at Ben, nodding firmly and smiling. "Alright, what would you like to eat?"
Ben’s breath paused for a moment, staring blankly at Yvette.
Her smile was still very beautiful.
"Pan-fried buns and soy milk, I really crave the pan-fried buns from Meridia’s 4th Road." Ben replied with a smile.
Yvette nodded. "Okay!"
"Let’s go." Henry shot an unhappy glance at Ben, disliking Yvette’s smiles for others.
Yvette turned to follow behind Henry, speaking softly. "The doctor said about Holly’s condition..."
"I’ve already asked the doctors to do their best, but her uterus can’t be saved. She’ll need to recuperate later, and the club will compensate her accordingly." Henry entered the elevator to the inpatient department.
Yvette followed in, feeling a bit lost.
With her uterus gone, she’d never be able to have her own children again.
Holly actually loved children very much.
Yvette knew that.
While in prison, Holly often asked about Summers, it was obvious she liked children a lot.
On the day Holly was released, she even took a photo of Summers with her.
Yvette’s phone rang, and she glanced at it; it was Ethan.
In her haste, she fumbled with the phone, and it fell to the ground.
Henry glanced at the phone on the ground, his expression darkened as he picked it up.
"Give it back to me..." Yvette seemed flustered.
Seeing Yvette’s nervousness made Henry even more displeased.
He directly hung up Ethan’s call and pulled Yvette into a corner. "Yvette, do you think Ethan is a good person? Do you know Ethan slept with Claudia’s sister Wendy? Slept with her and didn’t take responsibility, causing Wendy to attempt suicide several times?"
