CHAPTER 105: CHAPTER 105: HENRY JENNINGS LOSES CONTROL AND TRIES TO FORCE YVETTE ASTON

Who would marry a woman who can’t have children?

"Varric, I really have gotten to know you." Holly leaned against the bed, speaking sarcastically, her words light but her heart bleeding.

Having experienced betrayal once, Holly no longer trusted any man.

This man named Varric must have spent a lot of effort to make Holly fall for him again.

Unfortunately, when she finally decided to take out her scarred heart and offer it to him, he heartlessly trampled it on the ground, leaving it bleeding.

Yvette looked at Holly, sensing how heartbroken she must be.

"Where were you when Holly was in trouble?" Yvette clenched her fingers and stood up.

Yvette was very timid; after all these years of experiencing so much, her social anxiety and nervousness made her afraid to look strangers in the eye.

But for Holly, she still stood up.

"I was busy," Varric frowned.

"That’s bullshit, I saw you, hiding in the bathroom, too afraid to come out, you coward!" Summers said angrily.

"She brought it on herself, flirting around and provoking someone she couldn’t handle; how could I save her?" Varric said angrily.

Holly was so angry her face turned white, and she threw everything on the table to the ground, including the money. "Get out, get out!"

Yvette clenched her teeth, trembling with red-rimmed eyes.

"I’ve done all I can." Varric didn’t pick up the money on the floor, turning to leave.

"Wait...wait a minute," Yvette stammered, feeling angry.

Varric stopped in his tracks and turned back, frowning at Yvette.

Yvette picked up a cup of water from the side and threw it in Varric’s face.

That cup of water was poured by Summers just now, and it was still a bit hot.

Varric’s face turned red from the heat, stomping painfully and glaring at Yvette with anger. "What the hell is wrong with you!"

Yvette clenched her fists. "You deserve it."

"Get out!" Summers rushed forward and pushed Varric out of the hospital room.

Varric wanted to curse at Yvette again, but Henry kicked him aside at the door. "Say one more word."

Varric saw it was Henry and turned pale with fear, scrambling to run away.

Yvette trembled as she turned back, wanting to comfort Holly.

But Holly laughed, and as she laughed, tears started to fall. "Yvette... I’ve known you for so many years, and it’s the first time I’ve seen you this brave, I thought you used up all your courage to hurt yourself."

Yvette paused for a moment, then bowed her head in silence.

"When I was in prison, I told you, better to go crazy and mess with others than to be bullied and hurt yourself," Holly said weakly.

Yvette still didn’t say anything, her eyes red as she looked at Holly.

"What’s that saying? Ever since I got a mental illness, I’ve become much more spirited," Holly smiled looking at Summers.

Seeing Holly’s forced smile, Summers cried with a heartache.

Yvette slowly released her clenched hands. "Holly, come to Meridia with me, let’s... survive together."

Yes, just to survive.

"Okay..." Holly nodded.

"Summers, can I borrow your phone?" Yvette whispered, glancing at the door.

She had to call Ethan back; after all, Ethan was her boss now, and she couldn’t let him worry about her.

Remembering what Henry said about Ethan and Wendy...

Yvette didn’t believe it.

With Ethan’s personality, he wouldn’t be irresponsible.

But this wasn’t something she could care about, nor did she want to ask.

Summers handed the phone to Yvette.

Just as Yvette was about to call Ethan, Henry walked in.

Yvette quickly returned the phone to Summers in a panic.

"Want to call him?" Henry held Yvette’s phone, the caller ID still Ethan.

Yvette, panicking, stepped forward to get the phone, but Henry raised his hand to trap her in his embrace. "You guys rest well, Yvette has to head back to Meridia tonight, so she won’t stay long. Contact Ben if there are any issues."

Henry’s voice was cold, with an undeniable authority.

Holly frowned, looking at Yvette sympathetically.

Neither of them had it easy.

Summers was scared out of her wits; was this Henry, President Jennings?

Was he really with Yvette?

After Henry dragged Yvette away, Summers whispered. "President Jennings seems to like Yvette a lot; will she become the future lady boss of Apex?"

Holly sighed and shook her head. "Men like Henry, how could they marry women like us."

She let out a sarcastic laugh and leaned back on the bed. "People like them, who go to any lengths to achieve their goals, only enjoy the process of conquest; they won’t give Yvette the status she wants."

"Then..." Summers hesitated but said nothing more.

They were not people they could provoke, so it was better to say nothing.

...

Parking lot.

Yvette was stumbled and dragged into the car by Henry.

She was very scared.

Henry was furious, and she could see it.

"Do you care so much about Ethan?" Henry threw Yvette’s phone aside, pressing her down beneath him.

"What are you doing... Henry, don’t do this..." Yvette was terrified, panicked, wanting to push Henry away.

The moment Henry pressed down, she seemed to return to that night six years ago.

Fear, enveloping her whole body.

"Mr. Jennings..." Ben was sleeping in the car, suddenly jolting awake, nervously looking at Henry.

"Get out!" Henry’s anger was intense.

It wasn’t just because Yvette was working at Grant Group or that she seemed to care more about Ethan; it was because the Jennings family’s patriarch actually wanted to fight for Summers’ custody, forcing him to engage in legal disputes over custody issues.

And Yvette, was still foolishly here...

Ben was a bit panicked; he wanted to save Yvette, but Henry was his boss.

"Henry, don’t do this..." Yvette cried in fear.

Henry looked at Ben with intense anger. "Don’t make me say it a second time."

Ben, his head buzzing, got out of the car and walked a little distance, his breathing erratic.

He stopped, his mind a bit scattered.

Should he do something...

What Henry intended to do with Yvette was obvious.

...

"Henry, don’t touch me, please..." Yvette cried, begging Henry, but Henry only intensified.

His strength was considerable, pressing Yvette’s hands above her head, making her unable to struggle. "Yvette, have I been too good to you..."

"Have I respected you too much, making you forget what you should do to protect yourself?" Henry was very angry; what he wanted was for Yvette to be obedient, not to defy him.

As long as she listened.

Yvette slowly stopped struggling, her vision blurred with tears.

"President Jennings, the patriarch is looking for you..." Ben came back, his voice trembling slightly.

In the car, Henry didn’t want to pay attention to Ben.

"The assistant on the patriarch’s side said he had a heart attack." Ben knew Henry’s weakness was the patriarch.

The hands holding Yvette froze for a moment, Henry’s eyes deep as he tugged off his tie, sitting upright.

Yvette took the opportunity to push Henry away, opening the car door from the other side and escaping in panic.

Henry cursed irritably, punching the passenger seat.

"Go find her... and take her back to Meridia," Henry also got out of the car, leaning against the door to smoke.

Ben hesitated for a moment, then turned and ran to find Yvette.

But in just a blink, Yvette had disappeared into some alley; they couldn’t see her.

Yvette’s phone was in Henry’s car, and there were too many alleys around the hospital, filled with drunks and sketchy people.

Yvette had run out alone, unfamiliar with the place, making it too dangerous.

But Yvette, frightened, only knew to run for her life, not daring to look back.

Her mind was blank, only wanting to find a safe place to hide, to hide alone.
