CHAPTER 111: CHAPTER 111: SUMMERS DOESN’T KNOW WHO TOOK HIM AWAY

"..." Caden Summers knew that Michelle Lockwood had started again.

"Woof!"

"Woof!"

Suddenly, the sound of barking dogs came from outside the villa, and a large black German Shepherd ran towards them.

"Ah!" Michelle Lockwood screamed and instinctively leapt onto Caden Summers, clinging to him tightly.

Michelle Lockwood was afraid of dogs; every bodyguard in the Lockwood Family knew this.

Actually, being Michelle Lockwood’s bodyguard was quite easy; as long as no danger was present, you just needed to shield the boss from dogs.

Caden Summers didn’t understand why Michelle Lockwood feared dogs so much, but judging from the intensity of her fear, it wasn’t just a simple aversion; she must have experienced something terrifying.

Like being bitten by a dog.

"Caden, chase it away, chase it away!" Michelle’s voice was choked with tears as she clung to Caden, wrapping herself tightly around his waist.

Caden held Michelle with one arm, his eyes darkly fixed on the dog.

For safety, Michelle had bought a villa in the middle of the lake, a place where no one nearby kept dogs, so it was clearly intentional.

"Ben Hale, Alan Larson, follow up and see." After driving the dog away, Caden told the other bodyguards to follow up and see whose dog it was.

"The dog’s gone, come down." Caden let go of Michelle, allowing her to get off him.

Her actions left the bodyguards dumbfounded.

However, Michelle teased Caden hundreds of times each day, so the other bodyguards were used to it.

"Not coming down." Michelle stubbornly remained hanging onto Caden, refusing to come down.

Caden raised his hand to try to peel her off, feeling a moist chill on his shoulder. "Are you crying?"

Michelle remained silent, tilting her head to rest on Caden’s shoulder.

This man was so strong, giving such a sense of security.

She didn’t want to come down.

"Why are you afraid of dogs?" Caden was somewhat curious.

Caden could clearly feel Michelle’s body tensing up.

He didn’t know what he’d said to upset Michelle, but she got off him, her tear-streaked face darkened, and headed straight towards the house.

"Madam, this is James, an attorney from M Country. He says he’s here representing Mr. Donovan Hale to discuss Mr. Hale’s estate issues with you."

Michelle’s eyes were exceptionally sharp, cautiously watching the lawyer. "Donovan sent you? I believe I’ve made myself very clear; my husband left a will before he died, and there is a video certification. I’m the sole beneficiary of his entire estate, having nothing to do with Donovan, his cheapskate brother. Is that clear?"

The lawyer stepped forward very politely, attempting to shake Michelle’s hand. "I’m representing Mr. Donovan Hale..."

Michelle cautiously retreated, but the lawyer still stepped forward, holding a knife hidden in the sleeve, stabbing toward Michelle’s chest.

Michelle retreated in horror, instinctively closing her eyes.

"Watch out!"

The knife did not pierce her body...

Breathing halted instantly, Michelle opened her eyes, her voice trembling. "Ca... Caden."

Caden wrapped her in his arms, kicking the lawyer out.

The muscles on his back were solid, and the knife only grazed him, not serious.

However, the blood loss was significant, and the white shirt was quickly stained.

In Michelle’s view, Caden was dying.

"Caden, Caden... don’t die," Michelle shouted in panic, turning to have the butler call an ambulance.

"I’m fine," Caden said softly, looking at the subdued lawyer. "Him, what are you going to do with him?"

Michelle had no time for others, clinging tightly to Caden. "Don’t die, don’t leave me alone..."

This wasn’t Caden’s first time taking a knife for her.

Caden frowned, wanting to push Michelle away.

He was paid handsomely, blocking knives for the boss was part of the job, and he didn’t want Michelle indulging in any undue fantasies about him.

Their worlds were meant to be apart.

For Caden, these wealthy young masters and dames were creatures of a different species than him.

Between different species, how could love possibly arise?

Just as humans don’t fall in love with sewer rats, stray cats don’t fall for pedestrians.

...

Kindergarten.

Ethan Grant drove over to pick up Summers.

Caden Summers had foreseen that Michelle Lockwood wouldn’t let him leave work on time, so he asked Ethan to ensure Yvette Aston left work on time.

Between him and Yvette, one of them had to be unexploited by the boss and successfully pick Summers up.

Parking at the kindergarten entrance, Yvette was shocked. "Pick up Summers?"

Ethan glanced at Yvette. "Else what? Send you to school?"

Though he spoke mockingly, Yvette somehow felt warm. "I’ll... I’ll go pick up Summers."

"I’ve already contacted the hospital; Henry Jennings had the doctor arrange a checkup for Summers just to manipulate you using his illness," Ethan said bluntly about Henry Jennings.

It wasn’t a bad-mouthing; it was just stating the facts.

Yvette opened her mouth in surprise, then bit her lip. "Tha... thank you, Mr. Grant."

Indeed, it was something Henry Jennings would do.

He knew after what happened that night in Montville, she wouldn’t see him again unless it involved Summers.

"Is Summers registered with Caden?" Before Yvette got out, Ethan asked.

Yvette quickly nodded, quietly explaining, "Yes, Mr. Grant, don’t worry; it won’t inconvenience you."

Ethan looked grim, Yvette lacked any sense of danger.

Summers was Henry Jennings’ son, and even if Henry didn’t fight for him, the Jennings Family patriarch would certainly contest Summers’ custody.

"Get Summers’ custody as soon as possible," Ethan checked the time. "By tomorrow, at the latest the day after, have Christopher Carter go with you to handle the paperwork."

"But..." Yvette wanted to refuse.

This way, because of the marriage certificate, Summers and Ethan would have a mutual legal adoption relationship, making Summers Ethan’s legal stepson.

Once that relationship was established, wasn’t Ethan worried Summers would compete for his inheritance in the future?

"Summers is coming out," Ethan interrupted Yvette.

Yvette turned, gazing at the kindergarten entrance, where Summers’ figure was supposed to appear.

"Hello, Summers..." Yvette ran over to ask the supervising teacher.

"Summers? Oh? Someone picked up Summers half an hour ago." The teacher looked at Yvette in confusion.

Yvette took a deep breath, anxiously grabbing the teacher’s arm. "How could... how could someone take Summers? How could you let someone take Summers without our consent?"

Yvette panicked, speaking nervously.

Seeing Yvette about to burst into tears, the teacher panicked too. "Wasn’t it your people?"

Inside the car, Ethan noticed something was amiss, got out, and walked over. "Where’s Summers?"

The teacher stared at Ethan in shock, flustered. "Mr. Grant, Summers... I’ll check the register; it says Summers was picked up by his dad."

Yvette let go of the teacher, hastily taking out her phone to call Henry Jennings.

Did he have Summers picked up?

"Where?" Henry answered, his voice filled with displeasure.

"Summers... did you have someone pick up Summers?" Yvette’s voice was fearful and trembling.

On the other side, Henry paused. "Summers? I didn’t..."

He hadn’t someone pick up Summers.
