The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two
Chapter 143: Claudia Bell’s Revenge Leaves Summers Injured
CHAPTER 143: CHAPTER 143: CLAUDIA BELL’S REVENGE LEAVES SUMMERS INJURED
Beach.
Ethan Grant walked ahead, Yvette Aston followed him.
With Ethan Grant there, she had no mood to look at the sea.
Her heart was a little chaotic, and all Yvette’s mind was consumed by Ethan Grant...
She thought he would take her directly back to Meridia, but unexpectedly, he really brought her to see the sea.
"Mr. Grant, it’s already handed over to the police. The cleaner said Melody Crowe’s assistant told her to do it. The police have controlled Melody Crowe’s assistant, but she has taken all the responsibility, so for the time being...they can’t hold Melody Crowe accountable."
Christopher Carter called Ethan Grant.
"Expose this matter to the media, and say that it was me who drank that bottle of water and got injured." Ethan Grant’s voice was deep. "Cover all the online news about the union of the Bell and Grant families. I don’t want to see any more news about the union, understood?"
"Okay, Mr. Grant..."
...
Ethan Grant went to the car to make a call.
Yvette walked alone on the beach.
There were flower lamps by the sand, specially prepared for tourists.
As long as someone walked past, the lamps would light up, and flowers would bloom.
There would also be soft music.
Yvette looked up surprised at the automatically opening flower lamps, standing in the light, gently spinning around.
She was once... the only disciple of the head ballet dancer of the Meridia dance troupe, and had once represented the Meridia dance troupe as the performing swan.
However, during those years in prison, her spine was broken, and she swallowed all the bone crumbs.
Gently raising her hand, Yvette made a ballet position.
Her body was incredibly stiff, and Yvette lowered her hand in disappointment.
It seemed like... she could never return to what she was before.
To the soft music, Yvette attempted to stand on tiptoe.
After several attempts, Yvette gave up.
A swan with broken wings could never fly to the blue sky again.
By the car.
Ethan Grant leaned against the car door, eyes fixed on Yvette.
He actually... had seen Yvette on stage before. At that time, he only thought Jayden Grant didn’t deserve that blooming white rose.
But later, the rose was broken, scattered, and trampled into the mud.
But what was the rose’s fault?
Was the rose’s fault that it bloomed too beautifully, or too purely?
"Mr. Grant, what time is the flight?" Yvette, afraid of missing the flight, ran over and asked.
Ethan Grant came to his senses, suddenly pulling Yvette into his arms, extending an embrace.
Yvette was startled for a moment, not daring to move.
"Let’s go home..." Ethan Grant’s voice was hoarse and weary.
"Okay..." Yvette nodded.
Following Ethan Grant into the car, Yvette’s heart kept racing.
No matter how long this marriage transaction with Ethan Grant lasted, it was her fortune, wasn’t it?
This person really was flawless.
"Mr. Grant, thank you." On the plane, Yvette cautiously glanced at Ethan Grant.
"Hmm?" Ethan Grant let Yvette sit inside, and asked the stewardess for a blanket to cover her.
"If it weren’t for you... that bottle of water..." Yvette’s hairs almost stood on end.
Ethan Grant said nothing, his gaze deep.
"Sir, your coffee." The flight attendant smilingly approached, handing coffee to Ethan Grant.
Yvette instinctively took the coffee cup, voluntarily taking a sip.
Only after confirming it was fine did she breathe a sigh of relief and pass it to Ethan Grant.
"..." The flight attendant’s professional smile became awkward.
Ethan Grant looked at Yvette’s actions, finding it both amusing and exasperating. "This is..."
"Sorry." Only then did Yvette realize, though she had tested the drink for poison, she used Ethan Grant’s cup.
He surely wouldn’t drink it now.
"Could you please pour another cup?" Yvette asked the flight attendant awkwardly.
The flight attendant maintained her professional smile. "Of course."
"No need." Ethan Grant politely nodded.
When the flight attendant left, Ethan Grant smiled with the coffee cup in hand. "Is it poisonous?"
Yvette shook her head so hard her ears turned red. "No... no poison."
Ethan Grant took a sip of coffee. "I never thought airplane coffee tasted good before."
Yvette’s ears grew even redder; it really tasted awful, bitter.
Bitter as medicine.
"Get some sleep, I’m keeping watch." Ethan Grant softly suggested, letting Yvette sleep for a while.
Yvette blankly looked at Ethan Grant, then quickly averted her gaze, nervously gripping her fingers, turned away and closed her eyes pretending to sleep.
It’s over, she probably really was bewitched.
In prison, Yvette had read a book; when fatal temptation lay before you, no one could resist its allure, but once truly ensnared, death quietly arrives.
Yvette knew Ethan Grant was a dangerous man, perfect, and toxic.
One careless misstep, a descent into ruin.
But her heart would still be moved.
Perhaps, it was simply being too oblivious.
Wendy Bell said, Yvette, don’t let yourself become a joke again.
Not knowing how long she had slept, Yvette was gently awakened.
"Yvette, we’re home."
Home...
Slowly opening her eyes, Yvette found she had been leaning on Ethan Grant’s shoulder without knowing it.
Suddenly sitting up straight, Yvette nervously unfastened her seat belt and got up to follow Ethan Grant.
"Off the plane?"
Just after disembarking, Arthur Grant called Ethan Grant.
Clearly, Christopher Carter’s efficiency was excellent; Melody Crowe’s assistant’s criminal acts, harming Ethan Grant, had already hit the trending news.
"Yes, just arrived." Ethan Grant spoke gravely.
"Go home." Arthur Grant instructed Ethan Grant to go home, his voice indifferent, revealing no emotion.
If a normal father, he would be concerned for his son’s physical state at this time, whether injured, but Arthur Grant merely instructed Ethan Grant to go home.
Not only that, Ethan Grant could already predict Arthur Grant would soon ask him to take down the trending news.
"I’m not feeling well, heading home to rest first, let’s discuss tomorrow." Ethan Grant directly hung up Arthur Grant’s call.
Tomorrow, Melody Crowe would return.
If one must settle accounts, of course, it should wait until everyone was gathered for maximum excitement.
Glancing back at Yvette, Ethan Grant smiled and spoke. "Tomorrow after work, come home with me to the Grant Family."
Yvette’s fingers tingled, having a psychological shadow regarding the Grant Family.
"Don’t be afraid, I’m here." Ethan Grant paused, then spoke again. "Bringing you back to watch the drama."
Yvette bit her lip and nodded.
For unknown reasons, she actually felt a bit sorry for Ethan Grant.
In that house, how he had walked alone till now.
...
From the airport back to Ethan Grant’s residence, Yvette’s heart ached all the way.
Going home...
Returning to their shared home.
That one marriage certificate surprisingly gave Yvette unrealistic fantasies.
She actually began to fantasize about marriage.
Still remembered once telling Holly Ziegler that in this lifetime, she would never marry.
She had long since given up hope on men.
But now, what was she doing?
Fantasizing about a normal romance with Ethan Grant, or fantasizing about post-marriage life?
"Yvette, I’m hungry." Just stepping through the door, Ethan Grant pulled Yvette into his arms, resting his chin on her head, his voice weary and hoarse.
"I... I’ll make you dinner right away, how about vegetable noodles?" Yvette asked nervously.
"Hmm..." Ethan Grant responded, rolling up his sleeves to help in the kitchen. "I’ll help you wash the veggies."
Yvette nodded, her ears red.
But she regretted it quickly.
Ethan Grant wasn’t picking vegetables; he was destroying them.
He seemed to think every piece of vegetable didn’t suit his taste...
All tossed into the trash.
Yvette hurried to salvage the remaining vegetables, almost in tears. "Mr. Grant, these vegetables are expensive."
"Oh." Ethan Grant smiled, stepping back, no longer ’causing trouble.’
While washing vegetables, Yvette’s phone rang.
"Yvette! Are you still in Solara?" The call was from Caden Summers, sounding anxious. "Claudia Bell came by... don’t let her find you!"
Yvette’s hand holding the phone froze for a moment, on the line, she heard Summers’ crying.
He was calling for mom.
"Brother... what happened to Summers?" Yvette’s voice trembled.
"Summers is injured... I’m with him in the hospital, don’t worry, and don’t come back. Claudia Bell’s men are watching us, just trying to force you back!" It seemed discovered, Caden hurriedly hung up.
