The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two
Chapter 154: Ethan Is Shocked That Summers Is So Much Like Him
CHAPTER 154: CHAPTER 154: ETHAN IS SHOCKED THAT SUMMERS IS SO MUCH LIKE HIM
Ethan Grant’s residence.
Yvette Aston hid under the quilt, her heart racing.
She could almost hear the sound of her own heartbeat.
The closer Ethan got, the more flustered she became.
The light under the quilt dimmed, and Yvette nervously clenched her hands; she knew Ethan had turned off the lights.
The bedside sleep lamp gradually dimmed, and Yvette’s heart was in her throat.
"Do you like to sleep with your head covered?"
Ethan’s voice was so pleasant that Yvette’s heart beat wildly.
Gathering her courage, Yvette poked her head out of the quilt, wrapped herself tightly in the blanket, and cautiously looked at Ethan.
Ethan lay beside her, his voice low and deep. "Go to sleep."
Perhaps the bed was too big, as Yvette and Ethan were quite far apart, both of them quiet, not uttering another word.
Ethan truly didn’t touch her, letting her quietly fall asleep.
Feeling the breathing beside her become even, Ethan turned to look at Yvette, watching for a long time.
Actually, he had never imagined that one day, he would share the bed and pillow with a woman.
There were times when women tried every means to lie in his bed, yet he only felt disgusted.
Now, he was filled with anticipation, looking forward to the expression in her eyes when she awakened to see him in the morning.
"Are you asleep?" Ethan asked softly.
Yvette didn’t move, apparently deeply asleep.
"Completely unguarded," Ethan laughed helplessly, lifting a hand to gently stroke Yvette’s hair.
Yvette was very beautiful, the kind of person you’d remember at a glance in a crowd.
Her high nose bridge, eyes deep yet cold.
Ethan still remembered the way Yvette looked when she danced as the White Swan on stage years ago...
Perhaps even at that fleeting encounter, Yvette imprinted on his heart.
But he hadn’t realized it.
Later, he met many women, but none as breathtaking as she once was.
...
The next morning, Yvette woke up, opening her eyes to find herself curled up in Ethan’s embrace.
Too afraid to move, Yvette shivered.
She glanced back at her pillow.
This enormous bed, and she and Ethan barely occupied a third of it.
Ethan was almost at the edge of the bed.
Feeling guilty, Yvette clenched her hands, not knowing she had a habit of curling into others’ arms while sleeping.
"Awake?" Ethan woke up to find Yvette nestled in his arms, motionless, and asked with a smile.
It turns out, waking up to see someone you yearn to see really is a wonderful feeling.
This was a warmth Ethan had never experienced before.
"Mr... Mr. Grant, sorry," Yvette stammered, quickly got up, dressed, washed, and began to make breakfast.
Ethan also got up, went to the bathroom, and found Yvette had already squeezed his toothpaste.
Lowering his gaze with a smile, Ethan haphazardly ran his hand through his hair.
So this is what a home feels like...
In the past, no matter where he lived, it was just a place to stay for Ethan.
But now, it felt lively and warm.
"Summers, did you brush your teeth properly?" Yvette was making breakfast, hurriedly managing Summers.
Summers wasn’t tall enough to reach the wash area of the room.
Ethan walked down in casual clothes, his hair tousled in the morning light, the beige home wear adding a touch of warmth to his face.
Different from the icy demeanor in suits, this Ethan seemed more approachable.
"Dad, I can’t reach," Summers tilted his little head, seeking help from Ethan.
Ethan’s steps halted, his heart tightening.
That "Dad," it truly... made him want to give everything.
With one hand, Ethan picked up the little white ball of joy, reached for a new toothbrush, and applied toothpaste. "I’ll take you to buy a kid’s toothbrush after school."
Summers brushed his teeth earnestly in Ethan’s arms, speaking in a soft voice. "Dad, will you pick me up from school?"
"Mhm," Ethan nodded.
Summers was delighted, his eyes bright.
"Dad, will you always like me?" After brushing his teeth, Summers cautiously asked.
He was really afraid... afraid that one day Dad might not want him anymore.
"Yes," Ethan nodded.
"Can I always call you Dad?" Summers asked again.
Ethan ruffled Summers’s hair. "Yes."
"Then even if another child comes, you’ll still like me, right?" Summers seemed to understand everything.
Ethan was momentarily stunned. Another child?
Was Summers worried he might have his own child in the future?
Looking up at the mirror, Ethan was shocked for a long time.
The way Summers brushed his teeth, carefully cleaning the toothbrush, it was so much like him.
With a tight heart, Ethan instinctively pinched Summers’s chin, making him look in the mirror for comparison.
"Summers?"
Outside the door, Yvette called for Summers to eat, seeing the pair standing at the bathroom door, stunned for a long time.
Was it her illusion?
Summers in Ethan’s arms... They looked so much alike.
Summers’s hair messy, just like Ethan’s; the expressions on both of their faces were identical, at first glance resembling an enlarged and shrunken version.
Ethan came back to reality and looked at Yvette, letting Summers down. "I’ll have the butler redo the children’s room."
"No... It’s not necessary, my brother is on a business trip with the boss today, he’ll... be back tomorrow," Yvette nervously pulled Summers close, not daring to look up.
"Having a children’s room, Summers can stay wherever he wants, it’s more convenient, and he surely also wishes to spend more time with mom, right?" Ethan spoke softly.
Summers nodded vigorously. "Mom, Uncle rests on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday every week, can I stay here on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday?"
Yvette was a bit anxious; he even calculated the days. "But..."
"Then where will Summers stay on Sunday?" Ethan squatted in front of Summers, smiling as he asked.
"I’ll stay at Michelle’s sister’s place on Sunday," Summers replied earnestly.
"Oh?" Ethan raised an eyebrow, wondering how Michelle Lockwood managed to charm both Caden Summers and the little one.
"I’m a man, I have to take responsibility for Michelle, I kissed her, so I must visit her every week," Summers stated seriously.
Ethan was amused, only Michelle Lockwood could come up with such tricks.
"Summers..." Yvette’s face turned red from holding back laughter. "The ranks are mixed up, it’s Auntie Michelle, she’s Uncle’s girlfriend."
Summers blinked innocently. "But she told me to call her sister, said calling her Auntie made her feel old."
Yvette chuckled, it was indeed like Michelle Lockwood’s personality.
Ethan stood up, leading Summers to eat, suddenly remembering something, he quietly spoke. "It would be best... for Caden to stay away from Michelle."
It’s not that Michelle was bad, but there were things that Caden couldn’t bear.
The dangers around Michelle were far beyond Yvette and Caden’s understanding.
Yvette looked at Ethan nervously. "Michelle... she has a really nice personality."
She really liked Michelle’s personality.
"It’s not that she’s not good..." Ethan didn’t know how to explain it to Yvette, some things, if said, might frighten her.
"In any case, Caden and Michelle aren’t from the same world. It’s better not to have emotional ties." Ethan seriously reminded Yvette.
Yvette was taken aback, lowered her head, and said nothing.
Perhaps Ethan thought that with Caden and her background, they belonged to a different world from Michelle and him?
Actually, Ethan made sense; forcing people from different worlds together could be painful.
