The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two
Chapter 30: Ethan Speaks Up for Yvette Aston
CHAPTER 30: CHAPTER 30: ETHAN SPEAKS UP FOR YVETTE ASTON
"How long are you going to hide?" In the study, Ethan sat by the desk, raised an eyebrow, and asked.
Yvette hid in the corner and only cautiously crawled out from behind the curtain after the noise outside had quieted down.
After applying some ointment on her hand, Yvette wanted to put the medicine back.
"Tha... thank you." Yvette bowed her head, feeling somewhat uneasy, and fished out the few dozen bucks from her pocket, which she had earned by collecting bottles and scrap. "That day... the little cake, thank you. Summers really liked it."
Yvette smiled awkwardly at Ethan.
The smile was a bit strained.
In Yvette’s eyes, Ethan wasn’t a good man, but compared to those villains, he was much better.
Ethan glanced at the money in Yvette’s hand and spoke in a deep voice, "You keep it. When I need money, I’ll come to you."
Yvette awkwardly held onto the money in her hand and quickly bowed her head and pocketed it.
Clearly, it was a joking statement, yet Yvette’s eyes reddened.
It had been a long time since she felt any kindness.
He was Ethan, how could he be short of money?
"Mr. Grant, goodbye..." Yvette bowed deeply, put down the burn ointment, and wanted to run.
"Take it with you. You’ve used the medicine, keeping it would be throwing it away," Ethan said calmly.
Every time Ethan gave Yvette something, it seemed to be irresistible for her.
Yvette was too sensitive, Ethan could tell.
Yvette carefully reached out and took the ointment. "Thank you."
Opening the study door, Yvette quietly ran out.
Just upon arriving at the living room, she ran into Charlotte standing on the stairs.
Yvette didn’t say anything; it was already time to leave work, she could go.
"Yvette, you came out of the study?" Charlotte squinted her eyes, asking in shock.
Yvette didn’t respond.
"Ha... you really are... incorrigible. You know who’s calling the shots in this house, so you go and try to seduce them, right?" Charlotte seemed intent on blowing up the matter, persistently.
Yvette ignored her, turned, and wanted to leave.
"Stop right there!" Charlotte stared at Yvette with intense anger. "Yvette, have you looked at yourself in the mirror? Look at what you’ve become, do you know Ethan is a germophobe? You might not even know how you’d die if you tried to seduce Ethan!"
Yvette kept her head down, saying nothing.
"Overestimating yourself," Charlotte said furiously and anxiously, fearing Yvette might have something to do with Ethan.
In the room, listening to the commotion, Jayden came out, draped a shawl over Charlotte. "What’s going on?"
"Her! She came out of your brother’s study! I told you she’s restless, too cunning, pretends to be harmless, but she’s actually very shrewd, knowing your brother is in charge, she wants to seduce him," Charlotte deliberately incited Jayden.
Clearly, Charlotte knew Jayden very well.
As soon as she finished speaking, Jayden’s face turned dangerously dark.
Letting go of Charlotte, Jayden looked down at Yvette, descending the stairs with a heavy presence.
"Explain," Jayden struggled to control his emotions.
Feeling the danger, Yvette retreated in panic, "No... no, I was just..."
"Just what!" Jayden slapped Yvette across the face. "You just lost your shame and wanted to seduce my brother?"
Yvette’s mind went blank, her vision darkened as she fell to the ground.
Her fingers stiffened severely, unable to clench her fist, her heart filled with despair.
"Yvette, I thought after five years in prison, you would have restrained yourself. You act so well! You know to seduce my brother? Do you think he’d even look at you? A woman like you would disgust him with even a glance, got it?" Jayden felt it was ironic, seeing those who tried to seduce Ethan often ended up miserably.
"I didn’t..." Yvette denied.
"Don’t be late tomorrow at 8:30 AM," Jayden sneered, pulling Yvette by the collar. "Since you’re so desperate for a man, I’ll make sure you get one."
Yvette hung her head, her tears scorching as they fell.
Jayden only felt disgusted, Yvette’s every move now seemed like a performance to him.
The performance was so good.
"Jayden," Ethan heard the commotion and came out, feeling uneasy.
Usually, he was unfazed by anything, yet today was an unusual day.
With cold eyes, he looked at Charlotte and spoke again. "Isn’t she physically unwell? I saw she had quite some strength when she was shouting."
Charlotte panicked and wanted to explain, this was Ethan... the one she couldn’t attain but wished to.
"Brother... no, I just... saw her coming out of your room, feared she had other thoughts about you. She’s Yvette, the one who, along with her mother, schemed to take away my life, that Yvette, her private life is unrestrained, very filthy." Charlotte quickly explained, knowing Ethan had a serious germophobia, she deliberately mentioned dirt.
Ethan frowned slightly. "From what I know, when the Aston girl was switched, both of you were newborns, just a few days old. At that time, she already had the cunning to replace your life?"
Ethan’s words left Charlotte speechless.
Yvette, dazed from the beating, still abruptly looked up at Ethan.
Her eyes welled with tears, her gaze flickering.
