The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two
Chapter 32: Yvette Aston Is Quite Scheming
CHAPTER 32: CHAPTER 32: YVETTE ASTON IS QUITE SCHEMING
Yvette Aston stood there feeling very uneasy, nervously clenching her hands. She didn’t dare to get in the car; she was dirty.
"Th...thank you, n-no need to trouble yourself," Yvette awkwardly waved her hand.
Ethan didn’t say much either. He originally wanted to leave directly, but seeing Yvette’s limping figure in the rearview mirror, he felt inexplicably irritated.
...
Yvette did not go home.
In her disheveled state, with injuries on her face and hands, if Caden saw her, he would definitely be worried.
In a situation where she couldn’t change her circumstances, to make her family worry would just add more trouble.
In the past, Yvette was the cherished princess of The Aston Family, so she hadn’t faced much injustice or grievances in her life.
She was too well-protected, growing up in the sunlight, unfamiliar with the darkness at the bottom rung of society.
After losing everything, she realized how ridiculous it was for someone without a background to rebel.
Finding a bench in a nearby park, Yvette raised her hand and touched her forehead, slowly lying down.
Her head was so dizzy.
Like this, she might die a bit faster.
Looking at the scalded back of her hand, Yvette’s gaze became somewhat stagnant.
Does it hurt? She’s already numb to it...
When Jayden Grant had misunderstood her in the past, she was truly desperate; now it seemed quite ordinary.
Once thought they loved each other deeply, yet it only led to such disgraceful and venomous treatment.
Sometimes Yvette also contemplated, back in high school, if she wasn’t the Aston Family’s eldest daughter, if Jayden Grant hadn’t liked her, he would have surely been one of those leading the bullying against her.
His nature was never kind.
"Yvette, you’re such an actress, pretending to be pure, every day just knowing how to seduce boys. Strip her clothes off, let’s see how she seduces them then."
"What do you all want to do? I’ll report to the teacher."
"I heard you’ve got several boyfriends off-campus, what are you pretending for?"
Back in high school, rumors and slanders were enough to destroy a person.
Some envied her looks, others envied that the teachers liked her.
"Yvette Aston, she’s with me, Jayden Grant. So anyone who dares touch her, try it and see."
Jayden Grant once protected her.
"Let’s date." Later, Jayden sat on her desk, extending his hand towards her.
Yvette cautiously raised her hand, only to be suddenly pulled into the abyss by Jayden.
"No!" Yvette had a nightmare again.
Dreaming of past events.
The winters in Meridia weren’t very cold, but the wind at night was biting.
Yvette curled her body, wrapping herself tightly.
"Get up."
In her daze, Yvette seemed to see a figure, standing under the park’s light, backlit, like a deity come to take her away from hell.
"Are you going to take me away?" Yvette asked hoarsely, thinking she might be hallucinating from a fever.
"Yes." The man’s voice was deep.
Yvette drowsily closed her eyes. "I’m probably going to hell..."
"Why?"
"I should have died long ago..." Yvette’s voice was hoarse.
If it weren’t for her birth mother forcibly swapping her life with Charlotte Summers’, if she hadn’t stayed with the Aston Family for heart surgery, she would have died long ago.
This was an act against fate.
So she would go to hell.
"You’re not dying yet." Ethan touched Yvette’s forehead and frowned. "Christopher, call the family doctor."
The warmth around her grew stronger, and Yvette instinctively nestled into the warmth.
Ethan looked at Yvette nestled in his arms, his facial expression not showing much change.
Christopher, called out in the middle of the night, was trembling. He previously wanted to deny it, but now it seemed, their Mr. Grant’s discernment was quite precise; he surely had taken a liking to this woman named Yvette Aston.
Otherwise, given their Mr. Grant’s character, he would absolutely not let a woman casually get close to him!
Somewhat surprised by their Mr. Grant’s taste, why did he specifically fancy someone like Yvette?
Not to say her looks, she certainly was beautiful, no doubt, with fair skin...
But that’s not the point; the point is this woman was no easy game.
In Christopher’s view, Yvette frequently appearing pitiful in Ethan’s sight was just a deliberate act to gain sympathy.
In Meridia, everyone knew Yvette was a fraud, having swapped identities with The Aston Family’s real heiress to enjoy riches and was exposed, leading to her current miserable state.
She was also driven to despair and sent to jail by her fiancé Jayden Grant due to her questionable personal life.
Now out of prison, both the Grant Family and the Aston Family would not spare her easily. If she wanted to continue living a rich life, besides Ethan, no one else in Meridia could protect her.
This woman was truly smart.
"Mr. Grant... don’t you think her appearing before you time and again doesn’t seem coincidental?" Christopher asked in a low voice, trying to warn Ethan not to be deceived. "This woman, she’s quite cunning."
