The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two
Chapter 37: Summers Came Looking for Daddy
CHAPTER 37: CHAPTER 37: SUMMERS CAME LOOKING FOR DADDY
Downstairs.
Summers had been looking for his mother for a long time but couldn’t find her, so he sneaked out while his uncle wasn’t paying attention.
Relying on memory, he went to the villa where Jayden Grant had taken him and his mother, but the security wouldn’t let him in. With no other option, he came to find Ethan Grant.
He had seen on the news that everyone knew Ethan Grant was the most powerful man in all of Meridia.
So he surely could save his mother.
"Kid, how old are you? You can’t just randomly recognize someone as your dad, you know?" The security guards were teasing the little guy, after all, five-year-old Summers was at his cutest, with his handsome and adorable looks, he was quite likable.
"He is my dad," Summers said innocently.
Perhaps it was a child’s obsession with the strong; he just wanted the most powerful man to be his dad so he could protect his mom.
"This kid is a talent," the security guard laughed at the receptionist girl.
The girl, however, looked disdainful. "Look at his clothes, they’re washed so colorless. He’s definitely a poor family’s kid. Mr. Grant is busy every day. Just hurry and get him out."
Summers held the already washed-out plush doll in his hands, lowering his head in silence.
"Ugh, it’s so dirty, just throw him out already," the reception manager said angrily, instructing people to chase Summers out. "This is the company; how is the security department doing their job? Even kids can just walk in?"
Summers looked down at the doll in his hands and said softly, "It’s not dirty, my uncle made this Ultraman for me."
The security guard took a closer look at the doll in Summers’ hand and realized it was a handmade, incredibly ugly Ultraman.
The security guard was amused by Summers and pleaded softly, "Manager, I’ll take the kid out now. He’s still young; please don’t be so harsh."
"Harsh? This is a company! Get him out of here. Who knows where this kid came from, or if he’s even clean, or if he has any diseases? If Mr. Grant sees him, don’t even think about keeping your job," the manager scolded angrily, muttering under their breath, "These days, people come for all sorts of reasons, even to claim parentage. Who wouldn’t want Mr. Grant as a dad? I want my son to call Mr. Grant dad too."
With tears in his eyes, Summers turned to leave, clutching the plush doll close to him.
He’s not dirty. His uncle washes his clothes every day; they’re clean and even smell nice.
"Summers?"
Ethan Grant walked out of the elevator, looking at the little boy’s disappointed back. Unknowingly, his heart felt a bit tight.
Summers turned back, his eyes red, looking at Ethan Grant with his head down in grievance.
"Mr. Grant..." The security guard quickly stepped aside, scared.
The receptionist and manager were also taken aback; Mr. Grant actually knew this kid.
"Where’s your mom?" Ethan Grant glanced around, finding it was just the little guy alone.
"Bad people took mom away. Daddy, come with me to save mom." Summers handed his small Ultraman plush doll to Ethan Grant. He really liked Ethan Grant, which is why he offered such a treasured toy. "Daddy fights the monsters, protects mom."
Christopher Carter looked at the plush doll disdainfully, wanting to throw it away. It was too dirty and obviously made from old clothes. Their Mr. Grant was known for having a cleanliness obsession.
But Ethan Grant took the doll, examined it, and asked, "Who made this for you?"
"Uncle," Summers answered cautiously, looking at Ethan Grant. "If you come with me to save mom, I’ll give it to you."
Ethan Grant paused for a moment, understanding that the child really cherished this doll.
"Come on, let’s go find your mom." Ethan Grant lifted the child with one arm and walked out.
Christopher Carter was shocked almost to the point where his jaw dropped. This was unusual. If Mr. Grant was special to Yvette Aston because she could be used, then what about this little kid...
Wasn’t Mr. Grant the one who disliked kids the most?
Chelsea Grant’s child would cry when seeing Mr. Grant.
Aside from Christopher, the manager, and the receptionist were also too stunned to breathe.
This dirty kid actually called Mr. Grant dad?
When did Mr. Grant become a father?
"Assistant Carter, what’s going on..." the receptionist asked nervously.
Seeing Ethan Grant carrying Summers out, Christopher Carter casually replied, "Recently, Mr. Grant is interested in poverty alleviation!"
The receptionist suddenly understood—it turned out to be a child sponsored by Mr. Grant.
What good fortune.
Being carried by Mr. Grant, this kid must have saved the galaxy in his past life.
"They all say our Mr. Grant is aloof and hard to approach, but look how warm he is holding the child."
"I’ve started wanting to have a child with Mr. Grant..."
The receptionist girls started to swoon.
Meanwhile, Christopher Carter was anxious. "Mr. Grant, you have a meeting."
"Reschedule it."
Ethan Grant got in the car, looking at Summers. "Did your mom tell you to find me?"
Summers shook his head, "Uncle’s phone, looked up dad’s information; that’s how I found here."
Ethan Grant raised an eyebrow, "Who taught you that?"
