The Grants: Choosing One Between The Two
Chapter 46: Summers Calls Ethan Grant
CHAPTER 46: CHAPTER 46: SUMMERS CALLS ETHAN GRANT
Grant Group.
"Mr. Grant, about this quarter’s..."
Ethan Grant was in a meeting when suddenly, a phone rang.
The conference room became dead silent in an instant.
Everyone looked at each other in fear, wondering who dared to forget to silence their phone during an internal meeting and even brought it in...
Just as everyone was trembling with fear, Ethan Grant took out his own phone.
Everyone sighed in relief.
Ethan Grant frowned slightly as he looked at the unfamiliar incoming call on his personal phone. There weren’t many who knew this number.
"Hello?"
On the other end, an innocent voice tinged with tears spoke. "Daddy, please come save me, sob sob..."
It was Summers, crying and calling for her dad to save her.
The conference room was so quiet, everyone was shocked as they looked at Ethan Grant.
Since when did their Mr. Grant have a child? Is this a hidden marriage?
Listening to the crying on the phone, Ethan Grant felt a pang in his heart and suddenly stood up.
He gestured for the deputy to continue the meeting and walked briskly outside. "Summers, what happened?"
"They, they set the house on fire, I’m scared..." Summers was crying so hard she could barely catch her breath. "Daddy, they hit me, there’s so much blood, it won’t stop. They also hit uncle, uncle’s hands are all bloodied, sob sob... Mommy is missing."
Ethan Grant’s expression turned extremely grim, and the pressure was intensely low.
Everyone in the conference room looked at Ethan Grant in fear, wondering if their Mr. Grant was about to go commit murder.
Outside, Christopher Carter, holding coffee, was stunned for a moment. Seeing Mr. Grant’s enraged expression, he handed the coffee to someone beside him and quickly followed. "Mr. Grant, what happened?"
"Get the car!" Ethan Grant’s emotions were somewhat out of control.
Christopher Carter hurried into the elevator, pressing the buttons frantically, anxious to get to the underground parking lot to get the car, thinking something major had happened.
"Don’t be afraid, I’ll be there soon." Ethan Grant softly soothed Summers’ emotions.
Was it really his mistake...
If Yvette Aston hadn’t told the police about her connection to Charlotte Summers yesterday, would The Aston Family and Jayden Grant have left her alone?
"Daddy, I’m scared..."
Summers was still crying.
Ethan Grant wasn’t good at comforting children; after all, he had never done so before. "Summers, count to a hundred, and I’ll be there soon, okay?"
For some reason, Ethan Grant felt a stabbing pain in his chest.
He was never fond of children, yet he couldn’t bring himself to dislike Summers; he even felt a bit of affection.
"1..."
Summers started counting while sobbing.
Ethan Grant didn’t dare hang up the phone and quickly walked out of the company just as Christopher Carter arrived with the car.
"Mr. Grant, get in!"
With a press of the gas pedal, the car sped off, and Christopher Carter remembered to ask, "Mr. Grant, where are we going?"
"Caden Summers’ house."
Christopher Carter slammed on the brakes. "Huh?"
"Hurry up!"
Ethan Grant’s expression was very unpleasant.
Christopher Carter shivered with fear, not daring to ask more questions. He opened his phone to search for Caden Summers’ repair shop and sped off.
...
Demolition area.
Summers hid in a corner, looking at the charred house after the fire, crying as she counted. "15, 16..."
In the yard, Caden Summers didn’t dare let Summers see his injury and couldn’t bring himself to go to the hospital for an X-ray. He could only take a few wooden splints to immobilize his fingers and hand, clumsily wrapping them up.
"89, 90..." Summers cried as she counted, looking expectantly outside the door.
But her dad hadn’t arrived yet.
"98..."
"Summers!"
A black luxury car suddenly sped in, and Ethan Grant and Christopher Carter got out anxiously.
Caden Summers looked at the car and Ethan Grant getting out in panic, instinctively grabbing a stick beside him. "What do you want! Do you think having money and power means you can keep pushing people to their deaths?"
Caden Summers had seen Ethan Grant before, back when he went to the Grant Family to kneel and beg Jayden Grant to spare Yvette.
In Caden Summers’ view, these people were the same as Jayden Grant and Stellan Aston.
"Daddy!" Summers hung up the phone and cried as she ran out, throwing herself directly into Ethan Grant’s arms.
Caden Summers stared in shock at Summers and then at Ethan Grant, who was holding her. He looked like he had no ill intentions, but Caden Summers no longer trusted them. "Ethan Grant, what do you want to do! Summers, he’s not your daddy, come over here!"
Summers’ eyes reddened, looking at Caden Summers. "Uncle, Daddy can protect me and Mommy."
Caden Summers was stunned in place. A five-year-old child already knew to seek support from someone powerful...
This was all his fault, because he couldn’t provide the little one with a sense of security.
"Summers, he’s in cahoots with those bad people. Stay away from him, be obedient..." Caden Summers didn’t believe Ethan Grant could have good intentions. People like him had no heart.
"Mr. Summers, please come with us to the hospital first. Your hand looks seriously injured." Christopher Carter took a look at Caden Summers’ hand and inhaled sharply.
Caden Summers glared at Christopher Carter, hiding his hand behind him. "I don’t need your pretense."
"Where’s Yvette?" Ethan Grant frowned and asked.
Caden Summers sneered, sure enough, they were after Yvette. "Ethan Grant, Yvette hasn’t done anything against the Grant Family. Even if she did owe something, it was to The Aston Family. You have no right to go after her. Please leave."
Yvette had left. Her choice to escape Meridia might have been the right one.
To get away from these scumbags.
