CHAPTER 47: CHAPTER 47: SUMMERS LOOKS LIKE ETHAN GRANT

Ethan Grant didn’t explain; he just glanced at Christopher Carter. "Send someone to find them."

His gaze fell on Summers’ cheek, and Ethan’s expression darkened. "Who hit you?"

Summers lowered her head, remaining silent.

Caden Summers sneered. "Mr. Grant, what do you mean by this? Isn’t it people like you who trample others beneath your feet?"

Summers looked up at Ethan, her eyes red.

Suddenly, Summers felt a warmth in her nose, and dark red blood gushed out again.

Frightened, Summers raised her hand to cover her nose and turned around to squat on the ground, not daring to let Ethan see, fearing it would scare him.

"Summers." Caden dropped the stick in his hand and hurriedly took a tissue to wipe Summers’ nosebleed, but his injured hand was clumsy, and he smeared it everywhere.

Christopher tried to rush over to help, but Ethan beat him to it, taking the tissue to wipe Summers’ nosebleed.

"To the hospital." Seeing Summers’ nosebleed wouldn’t stop, Ethan frowned and spoke, feeling a bit anxious inside.

"Give me back the child." Caden looked at Ethan warily, not knowing what he intended to do, charity perhaps?

"Mr. Summers, our Mr. Grant is doing this for the child’s good. You should come to the hospital too; now is not the time to be stubborn." Christopher reminded, opening the car door for Ethan.

Caden hesitated for a moment, dusted off the dirt from his clothes, and got into Ethan’s car.

Christopher glanced at Ethan through the rearview mirror—it was all too strange...

Moreover, he had a bizarre feeling, as if Summers and Ethan looked somewhat alike.

Could it be six years ago...

Startled by his own thoughts, Christopher quickly shook his head. No, Dylan Fischer was the mastermind back then. He said it was Wendy Bell, and Wendy herself admitted it, moreover, she could indeed recount the details and room number from that night.

A girl likely wouldn’t joke about her own reputation.

Besides, if the person that night was really Yvette Aston, how could she not recognize Ethan?

In Meridia, what woman wouldn’t recognize Mr. Grant?

Shaking his head again, Christopher thought he might be overthinking it. Maybe Mr. Grant simply liked Summers as a child.

"Dad..." On the road, Summers obediently sat by the side with a tissue blocking her nose, calling softly.

Ethan ruffled Summers’ hair. "Don’t be afraid, we’ll be at the hospital soon."

Summers looked at Ethan with red eyes. "Dad, where did Mom go?"

"Mom went to buy toys for Summers, she’ll be back soon." Ethan signaled for Christopher to quickly find Yvette.

Christopher nodded.

Today’s nosebleed was too severe, combined with being hit and frightened, Summers felt a bit dizzy.

Caden nervously looked back at Summers, seeing her drooping spirit, he softly asked, "Mr. Grant... is there any food in the car? Summers might have low blood sugar..."

If it weren’t for having no other choice, he really wouldn’t have asked Ethan for help, but he was in such a hurry to get in the car that he forgot to grab something for the child to eat.

Ethan paused for a moment, he had mysophobia... usually, he kept nothing in the car.

Christopher also nervously shook his head. "Mr. Grant, there’s nothing in the car."

"We should keep some snacks in the car from now on." Ethan frowned, making a comment.

Christopher had been so startled by Ethan lately that he nodded repeatedly, his tongue too scared to make a slip.

...

At the hospital.

Ethan carried Summers for the check-up, and Caden was also taken by a doctor to have his injured hand forcibly treated and x-rayed.

"Medical fees? And the check-up fees for the child? Sir, they’ve already been paid." The cashier informed Caden, after his hand was bandaged and he went to pay, that it had already been settled.

Frowning, Caden didn’t understand what Ethan meant by this.

Ethan was a member of The Grant Family too.

Back then, it was The Grants and Aston Family that nearly destroyed their home.

Caden couldn’t possibly have a good opinion of The Grants, but someone as powerful as Ethan had no reason to seek any benefit from Summers, and his concern seemed genuine.

"How much was the total cost?" Caden asked in a low voice.

The lady at the counter glanced up. "Sir, the total for the medical and check-up fees is sixty-seven hundred."

Caden froze for a moment, sixty-seven hundred... he didn’t have that much money to repay Ethan now.

"Mr. Summers!" Christopher approached, having bought snacks for Summers, looking serious. "We need to discuss Summers’ condition—checks revealed she has hemolytic anemia, were you aware of this?"

Caden nodded.

"Is it hereditary? Who is the child’s father?" Ethan sought an expert consultation. The specialist still recommended involving the biological father for further investigation to pinpoint the exact cause and assess the need for non-identical genetic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

"Heh... I’d also like to know who that bastard is." Caden whispered.

Christopher looked at Caden in shock—Yvette wouldn’t joke about the child’s health condition; the biological father’s cooperation was essential.

Could it be that Yvette really didn’t know who the child’s father was?
