The Headline Queen: President Hawthorne is Her Die-Hard Fan!
Chapter 559: Be a Little More Merciful
CHAPTER 559: CHAPTER 559: BE A LITTLE MORE MERCIFUL
Just a few days before Julian Hawthorne and Paige Sterling’s wedding, Julian suddenly received a call from Helen Hale.
Because of the wedding preparations, Julian had been receiving many unfamiliar calls lately, mostly from people involved in the wedding.
Therefore, when another unfamiliar number called, Julian didn’t think much of it and answered.
But to his surprise, it was Helen Hale’s voice on the other end, and Julian was about to hang up immediately.
Helen quickly said, "Julian, don’t you want to know where my brother is?"
As expected, Helen succeeded, and Julian didn’t hang up.
Helen said, "I know you won’t be at ease if my brother is alive. If you want to know where he is, you should come to me right now."
Helen gave Julian an address and then hung up.
She was confident Julian would come because her brother’s presence would leave Julian constantly on edge. If her brother was alive, Julian would undoubtedly be the one most eager to find out his whereabouts.
Helen thought Julian wouldn’t tell Paige about this. After all, their wedding was around the corner. Any normal man meeting a woman he had previously had an intimate relationship with would surely be secretive about it and not let his wife know, right?
However, Julian did tell Paige about it.
Henry Hale was such an enigmatic person that whether he was truly dead remained a mystery.
And if he wasn’t dead, would he come back for Helen?
This was indeed hard to say.
But if he was really alive and had told Helen his whereabouts, and now Helen was using this information as bait to lure Julian out, who knows what Henry would think.
Paige said, "Do you want me to go with you?"
Julian shook his head, "If you’re okay with it, I’d prefer to go by myself."
Paige raised an eyebrow. "Okay with what?"
Julian replied, "Okay with my safety. What else would you be concerned about?"
Paige, "..."
Seeing Paige’s speechless expression, Julian chuckled, "Are you thinking wildly again?"
Paige’s mouth twitched. Who on earth is overthinking here?
She said, "You should go, and be careful."
Julian gave her a peck before leaving.
Regardless of whether the news Helen released was true or false, it was worth investigating.
Because Henry Hale was indeed a major source of unease for Julian, and unless he saw Henry’s corpse with his own eyes, he would never be at peace.
At this moment, Helen was preparing at the hotel.
She wore the most seductive silk nightgown and spread rose petals all over the bed.
The table was set with candles and red wine, creating the perfect atmosphere.
She was determined to succeed this time, no doubt about it.
No man can resist this kind of temptation from a woman.
If it still didn’t work, she would just make Julian drink that glass of red wine to achieve her goal.
If Julian would then divorce Paige, that would be ideal; if he refused, she’d send the intimate photos she took to Julian.
Either way, today, she must achieve her goal.
Helen showed a determined smile.
Soon, a knock on the door sounded, and Helen, after checking herself in the mirror and spraying some perfume, opened the door.
Sure enough, it was Julian standing at the door. Helen gave a bewitching smile and posed alluringly, "Julian, you finally came, I’ve been waiting for you for so long..."
As she spoke, she reached out to pull Julian.
But Julian avoided her hand, looked at Helen, and asked, "Where is Henry Hale?"
Seeing that Julian asked about Henry’s whereabouts immediately upon arrival and didn’t let his gaze linger on her alluring body at all, Helen felt a bit disappointed.
"Julian, that’s not a very polite way to ask someone for something."
She laughed, "Come in first, and we can talk slowly. You can ask me anything you want to know."
Helen didn’t reach out to pull Julian again but instead stepped aside to signal him to enter.
Julian glanced at her, and finally went inside.
Helen quickly closed the door behind her.
She looked at Julian’s tall figure, and couldn’t help but reach out, wanting to hug him.
She threw herself towards Julian, aiming to wrap her arms around his waist.
But as she pounced, Julian dodged, and she almost stumbled to the ground.
She looked at Julian with some grievance, "Julian, you are so heartless. I only have eyes for you, now I just want to get close to you, and you refuse..."
Seeing Julian’s expressionless face, her resentful demeanor suddenly seemed a bit awkward.
"Julian, look at this, I prepared all of this for you, do you like it?"
She said, "Every single rose petal here was picked by me, I’ve envisioned this day for so long, Julian..."
She was full of deep emotion, her eyes brimming with tears; her appearance was quite pitiful.
Julian only asked, "Where is Henry Hale?"
Helen, wounded, said, "Julian, are you only going to keep asking about my brother’s whereabouts? Can’t you care about me at all? I really need you..."
Tears fell silently down her cheeks, "Watching the man I love about to marry another woman, do you know how painful it is for me? I just wish for a word of comfort from you; why is it so difficult? Julian, I’m just an ordinary woman deeply in love with you. Can’t you be a bit more compassionate towards me?"
Julian, "It seems you don’t know where Henry Hale is."
With that, Julian turned and walked towards the door.
Helen panicked, hurriedly blocking the door and said, "Julian, I know where my brother is. I’m his sister; of course, he contacted me first when he was safe."
She looked at Julian pitifully, "Julian, let’s sit down and have a drink, talk over some wine, okay?"
Seeing Julian unmoved, she added, "Julian, I told you, I’ll tell you whatever you want to know, but you need to show some sincerity, don’t you? It’s just keeping me company for a while, is it that hard for you?"
She cautiously approached Julian but didn’t dare get too close. After all, she heard that even Maeve Yardley from the Yardley Group had been dealt with by him; if he suddenly acted against her, she couldn’t defend herself.
Even though she was confident that Julian couldn’t possibly hurt such a beautiful and graceful woman like herself, she still didn’t dare get close to him.
But she desperately wanted to get close to Julian—the man of her dreams.
"Julian, can you at least hug me?"
With a choked voice, she said, "Julian, I will die without you. I really need you to warm my heart, heal my pain. Please pity me, can you just hug me?"
Julian frowned, "Helen, did you call me here just to say these useless things?"
Helen’s expression turned stiff. To her, these were vital, worth trading a lifetime of happiness for just a moment, and Julian regarded them as useless?
She looked heartbroken, "I know, Julian, you’re now as coldhearted as a wolf. You’ve got better options, so you won’t love me. I never dared to expect more; I only seek these brief moments together, so that in future reminiscence, I have some beautiful memories to cherish."
She took a deep breath and picked up the two glasses of red wine from the table, handing one to Julian.
"Julian, drink this glass of wine, and I’ll tell you where my brother is."
Seeing Julian not reaching out, she said, "I took the risk of betraying my own brother to call you here, and yet you won’t even share a glass of wine with me? Julian, do you really have to be so cruel to me?"
Julian chuckled, "What did you put in the wine?"
