Halsey’sshes fluttered. “What title would that be?”

    “You really don’t know?” Shaun asked. “Or are you just pretending?”

    Her heart skipped a beat. Of course, she knew exactly what he meant. Heat rushed to her cheeks, and she tried to get up. “Let me go!”

    Her skin was pale with just a touch of pink, soft and delicate. With her face glowing red, the tiny fuzz on her cheeks shimmered like ss in the light. It made him want ito /ikiss her, or maybe even bite her, just to prove she was real.

    Shaun only held her tighter, his strong arms locking her against him no matter how much she wriggled. His lips curled into a teasing smile. “Your lecturer asks you a questionb, /band you don’t answer? Don’t you think that’s a little rude?”

    She arched a brow. “Isn’t it even worse for a lecturer to be hugging his student right now?”

    Before she could say more, Shaun leaned down and caught her lips with his.

    “Mmph!” She pushed against his chest, trying to shove him back. “Let go!”

    But as soon as she opened her mouth, he deepened the kiss, taking full advantage.

    Halsey’s face burned. Embarrassed and annoyed, she bit down on his lip.

    Shaun hissed in pain and finally let her go. When he touched his mouth, there was already a tiny smear of blood.

    He chuckled. “You really broke the skin. What should I tell people if they ask about this?”

    Her eyes sparkled as she shot back, “Tell them it’s punishment for forcing a kiss!”

    “No,” Shaun said with a grin. “I’ll tell them it’s a mark from my wife.”

    Wife… He just called her his wife.

    Halsey’s heartbeat tripped over itself.

    “Who are you calling your wife?” she said, half sly, half scolding.

    “You, of course,” Shaun answered smoothly. “You’re my wife.”

    Warmth spread through her chest like honey. “I haven’t even married you yet. Don’t be so shameless.”

    He hugged her tighter. “Then when are you gonna marry me?”

    “That depends on how you behave,” she teased.

    “Then I’ll make sure I behave perfectly.”

    Just then, her ringtone broke the moment again.

    “I’ve got another call,” Halsey said.

    Shaun sighed. “You really are busy. Two calls already in just this short time. Who is it now?”

    She pulled out her phone. “Let me see… Oh, it’s Calvin!”

    Shaun’s gaze flicked to the screen too. Sure enough, it was Calvin.

    The reason he hade to Anteoch University today was partly because of Calvin. He knew Halsey and Calvin had grown up together, and the thought of losing her to that guy had haunted him. But after arriving, he hadn’t seen the two of them together, so he almost forgot about it until now.

    “Go on. Answer it,” Shaun said, wanting her to pick up in front of him.

    Halsey didn’t think twice, especially since she had nothing to hide. She tapped the button and lifted the phone. “Hey, Calvin.”

    Calvin’s warm, steady voice came right through the speaker. “Hey, Halsey. Did you finish ss?”

    “Yeah, I’m done,” she said.

    “Good. You didn’t forget about tonight, did you?”

    Because she was still sitting on Shaun’sp, he heard every word clear as day. The second Calvin mentioned “tonight“, Shaun’s eyes narrowed, sharp and cold.

    Halsey just smiled. “Don’t worry. I didn’t forget. promised to buy you dinner tonight. I already made the reservation. I’ll text you the address. See youter!”
