Mia has to tell Esther ckwell about her dream. She has to. It doesn’t matter how ridiculous it sounds.
She has to tell her today, if she dys further it will be dangerous.
Mia has seen how it will happen, from the phone call, to them getting into a car and driving there.
She has to find a way to tell her today…..
They cannot go for that deal. They can’t….
She has to tell her…
It was tormenting her beside it’s not something that will just go away if she decides not to tell her.
She has to warn her.
As much as she believes in those dreams what if this time she’s wrong…
What if she fails to stop it.
Her chest feels tight just thinking about that.
Still, she pushes it to the back of her mind as she focuses on her job. The office is busy today, people rushing up and down
the hallways with papers.
Mia hides herself in her work.
She keeps reminding herself…ter. She has to tell herter.
But how?
Her heart races just irnagining it. What if Estherughs at her? What if she doesn’t believe her? Or worse, fires and kick her
out.
The thoughts almost consume her, but then the calles in. A meeting, everyone is required.
Mia stood up immediately, smoothing her skirt before she stands. She joins the other workers heading into the sub conference room.
People shuffle to their seats, murmurs fading as the sound of Mr. Cruz’s voice takes over.
Mia slips quietly into a chair at the back almost relieved that nobody seems to notice her. She likes it better this way… hidden, blending in, out of sight.
She clutches her notebook tightly to her chest for a second before setting it down, pen in bhand/b.
Mr. Cruz clears his throat, his deep voice fills the room.
He began talking about the new contract they are trying to get.

He exins how the deal, if sessful, will help with the marketing of the new product ABL is preparing tounch. Apparently, thepany they are targeting has strong tforms, strong sites that will carry ABL’s name to ces they can’t yet reach on their own.
“This is more than a partnership,” Mr. Cruz says firmly. “It’s an opportunity to ce ABL in front of the right audience, at the right time.”
Mia listens carefully, jotting down what she can jot down. She writes quickly, her notes messy but enough for her to make sense ofter.
Yet as focused as she tries to be, there was something else making the hair on her body stand.
The feeling of eyes on her.
Mia shifts ufortably in her chair, her fingers tightening around her pen. She tries to ignore it at first, convincing herself it’s nothing. Maybe someone is just looking around the room. Maybe she’s being too self–conscious.
But the feeling doesn’t go away.
Her pulse speeds up. Finally, against her better judgment, she gives in and lifts her eyes.
Esther ckwell.
Their eyes meet across the room, a sharp, startling eye contact that knocks the air from Mia’s lungs.
Esther’s eyes seemed soft, nicer?
Mia looks away immediately, her cheeks burning. Her heart ms inside her chest,
Why? Why is Esther ckwell staring at her like that?
Did she do something wrong?
She lowers her gaze to her notebook again, staring so hard at the words she’s written that they almost blur together.
Then she feels them again…
Mia dares not look back, but it’s as if her whole body is aware of it. Her skin prickles, her back stiffens, and she feels like she could crumble under the pressure of being seen.
Finally, she gives in again, just a quick nce.
This time Esther isn’t looking at her. She’s looking somewhere else, her face unreadable.
Mia exhales shakily. Maybe she imagined it. Maybe she only thought Esther had been staring at her because she was so nervous about everything else–the dream…..
Yes. That must be it. She’s imagining things.
She shakes her head slightly, trying to ground herself. She is losing it.

She forces herself to pay attention, to listen to every word Mr. Cruz says about the marketing n. She writes down more notes, anything to keep her hands busy and her mind upied.
The meeting stretches on. Mia feels like she’s floating in and out, one moment she’s sharp and aware, the next second she’s trapped in her own thoughts.
And yet, even after she convinced herself she was imagining it, the unease doesn’t leave her. It lingers, making her restless.
in her seat.
Did she do something to Esther ckwell?
By the time Mr. Cruz finishes, her shoulders are stiff from sitting so rigidly.
The moment he dismisses everyone, chairs scrape against the floor, people begin to file out.
Mia is quick to stand, eager to disappear with the others, eager to breathe freely.
She moves with the others toward the exit, her steps quick, almost rushed.
“Miss Rivers, see me in my office,” Esther ckwell says.
Great……
What did she do now?
