CHAPTER 145: PRACTICAL ENTRANCE EXAM

Thousands of applicants were lined up, taking their entrance exam, trying their hardest to pass the test. Some people couldn’t even make it to this step if they didn’t pass the first test, which was filling out their information.

A lot of people didn’t know that the information they wrote down on the paper that was given to them was a part of the test. Normally, it would take a few days for a background check to be done, but because Janna vouched for Kai and because he had his Hunter/Adventurer’s license, he was able to move on to the next step faster than normal.

"Your number is 2187. When they call you, go up the the platform and they will instruct you on what to do. I’ll be here watching you since I was the one who handled your paperwork."

"Thank you, miss..."

"Rose."

"Thank you, Miss Rose." He smiled.

Rose smiled back. ’I wonder if he’s into older women.’ She thought to herself.

While he waited, Kai looked around to see what type of tests the applicants were taking. They all ranged from tests of strength, speed, precision, critical thinking, magical abilities, combat prowess, obstacle courses, and how much strain their body and mana could take.

He saw tons of people fail, a lot pass but barely, and a few pass with flying colors. However, the ones that passed were a handful compared to the ones that failed.

"Is there another test after this?" Kai asked Rose.

"That’s right. A monster test. You will have to fight a monster related to your own strength. If you fail that test, then you can’t join the Academy." She informed him.

"I see. So, after that test, does that mean you are a student?"

"Yes. However, you could still get kicked out of the school. If you fail the majority of your classes, you’ll be kicked out. If you get into an unauthorized fight, you’ll be given three strikes, and after the third one, you’ll be kicked out. But depending on how severe the battle is, you could be kicked out without any warnings."

’That seems reasonable.’ Kai nodded.

"But that’s not all. Our school has a point system. Each range of points relates to the class you are in. The more points you earn, the higher the class you’ll be in and the more benefits you get at school. But if your points reach zero, then you’re kicked out."

"How do you lose or gain points?" He asked

"You gain points by going to class, so attendance, participating, answering questions correctly, passing tests, winning duels, joining clubs, and things like that. Basically, anything positive you can do in school."

’That’s actually a pretty cool system. You can earn a shit ton of points with ease.’

"As for losing points, if you answer questions incorrectly, fail tests, lose duels, start fights, be rude and disrespectful to anyone, and so on. Your points are also used to buy lunch and other school items."

’Ahh, now I can understand if people happen to stay in the same class they started in.’

"Applicant 2187, to the platform!" An instructor called.

"That’s me. Wish me luck." He winked at Rose.

"Good luck!" She smiled back.

Kai started flying up to the stage just to show off. Everyone turned to him in awe, while others knew that he was just trying to show off.

"I read the file on you. Do you think you’re any special?" The instructor asked with a cold tone.

"Shouldn’t everyone think their special? I mean, they’re special to someone, whether that’s their mom, dad, sister, brother, friend, or lover." Kai responded.

"Heh, getting all smart with me, huh?"

He smirked, "Nah, just answering your question."

"I wonder how long it will be until that smile on your face fades."

"Let’s find out."

Kai’s first test was of strength. He was forced to lift a large weight that scales with the user’s mana. The more mana the weight absorbs, the heavier it becomes. So, Kai went all out from the start.

He didn’t use all 200k of his mana, just 10,000. Why only 10K? Well, that was because 10K mana was the threshold for Tier-10 warriors or mages.

So, to show off once more, he lifted the weight with one finger.

"What the hell?!"

"S-Sir! The mana reading is coming back as 10,500!"

’He really is a Tier-10 warrior! And he’s casually lifting a weight that’s equal to his own mana? That’s insane!’

Mana power was stronger than physical power. So Kai was lifting not only his own mana power, but his own physical power, because you use mana to boost your strength. Still, Kai wasn’t going all out, so it was light to him.

"L-Let’s move on!"

His next test was about speed. He needed to move as fast as he could to break the mana targets that were placed around his stage in a certain amount of time.

’I’ve placed over 1,000 targets for him to hit. No way he’ll break them in time!’ The instructor chuckled and told Kai to get ready.

"Go!"

In literally 0.5 seconds, Kai broke all of the targets. This not only counted for his speed test, but precision test.

Everyone was left stunned. There had never been an applicant who moved this fast before. Scratch that. They never had an applicant who was a Tier-10 warrior before.

"What in the actual fuck?!"

For the few tests that Kai had to take, he passed them all with flying colors, excelling at all of them. No one in the history of the Hero Academy had gotten a perfect score in every category, but here Kai was, creating history.

Rose shifted in her seat, her expression a mix of shock and excitement. She knew Kai was special from what he wrote down and Janna’s vouch, but she didn’t expect him to be this impressive.

Now, she really wanted to get on Kai’s good side and help him out in any way she could.

"Y-You can move on to the next test now." The instructor announced, crying as he lay on the floor in defeat.

"Cool."
