CHAPTER 154: THE DISCIPLINARY COMMITTEE

Kai smiled, recognizing the voice. There were only a few people who knew him personally in the school, and he knew that his girls weren’t there, so putting all that together only left him with one answer.

"Hey, Janna." Kai turned around and gave her a big hug.

She hugged him back, standing on her tiptoes, and gave him a kiss on the cheek.

"Watcha doing?" She wrapped her arm around his own and started walking with him.

"What does it look like?"

"It looks like you’re listening to people argue about which club you should join."

He nodded. "Fair enough. I’m looking for a club to join, but nothing caught my interest yet."

"What type of club are you looking for? Magic? Martial arts? The sleep club?"

Kai looked confused for a second. "The sleep club?"

"Yeah. The club is dedicated to people who don’t get enough sleep. So, they can sleep all they want in that club. It’s very popular."

"What the hell? That actually sounds fun as fuck. I may have to join that club. Also, isn’t pda forbidden in school? We could get in trouble."

Janna pouted and removed her arm from Kai’s own. "I know."

"Don’t worry, we’ll have plenty of time to hand out and show affection with each other some other time."

"I look forward to that." Janna giggled, leaning forward with her hands behind her back. "Oh, and speaking of trouble, why don’t you join the disciplinary committee?" She asked

"The disciplinary committee? What is that? Local school security?" He joked

"Meh, sort of. We’re in charge of enforcing the rules, handling duels, taking care of the bad students, and handling a lot of paperwork." She slouched when she said paperwork. Kai assumed that she hated that part of the job. He didn’t blame her either.

"No offense, but that doesn’t seem too interesting. I’m more of a rule breaker, not a rule enforcer. I’d be a bad committee member. Besides, people annoy me a lot, and I might just beat the shit out of them so bad that they don’t even come back to school."

"Heh, that would be great. Like you did with that bastard the other day. Blew his head off, boom! Just like that. It was awesome!"

Kai looked at Janna, not expecting her to have that reaction. Then again, he didn’t really know her that much, so this could be her true personality. If so, then that was cool in his opinion.

"What’s your role in that club?" He asked

"Vice President. Second in command."

"With how you’re trying to get me to join, I expected you to be the leader."

"Ha, no, I’m not the leader. The President is a strong, no-nonsense, upright woman who believes that justice is everything. Everyone is afraid to mess with her, and when they do, they get fucked up."

"Sounds pretty hot. Maybe I should join."

"Haha, really?" She punched his arm. "You’d join just to see the president? Are girls the only thing on your mind?"

"Absolutely. Like you." He looked down and smiled at Janna. She blushed and turned away.

"W-Well, if you do wish to join our club, just let me know. You’ll always be welcomed, and you’d make a great officer."

"If there’s any club he’ll be joining, it’s mine." A woman walked up to Kai and Janna with confidence in each of her strides. She was accompanied by two girls and two boys, all of them who looked smug and as if they owned the place.

"Ugh, Lissana. What do you want?" Janna scoffed

"Him, obviously." She pointed at Kai. "You declined my invitation a few days ago, but that’s okay since you don’t know who I am. But allow me to properly introduce myself. I’m-"

"Wanna grab something to eat?" Kai asked Janna, interrupting Lissana without any care.

"Sure." She smiled and walked away with Kai.

"W-Wait! Don’t leave! I haven’t finished introducing myself!" She grabbed Kai’s arm, but instead of stopping him, she was just dragged along.

It wasn’t until the other four people who walked with her stepped in front of Kai that he stopped.

"What?" He asked, slightly annoyed.

"The lady is speaking to you."

"And?"

"And? What do you mean by ’and’? You stay and listen when she speaks!"

"Whatever." Kai had patience. He also wanted to win the bet with Kyana, so he calmed himself.

"A-As I was saying. My name is Lissana Calaback, the first daughter of Duke Calaback. I’m the president of the student council. We work to better the environment for school, plan events, schedule outings, and act as the bridge between the-"

"Human and Spirit worlds?" Kai cut in.

"N-No, the administration and students."

"Oh."

"On the student council, you’ll be given a high position and a great deal of points. Also, I treat my people well, so if you join me, your future will be set." She held out her hand for Kai to take.

She was extremely confident that Kai would accept her offer. How could he not? She was smart, beautiful, powerful, the head of the student council, the daughter of a Duke, and was very interested in Kai. No one would say no to her.

"Now that I’m thinking about it, I met a girl who claimed she was the daughter of Duke Calaback a bit ago. She was surrounded by a bunch of knights and mages, had a high-pitched voice, and used her father’s influence to threaten me."

"Ahh, you must have met my sister, Susan. So you’re the boy who turned her down when she wanted to set up camp. The world is small. Well, I’m nothing like my sister, so will you join me?"

"Nah, I’m good. Your offer doesn’t sound appealing." He started to walk away with Janna.

"Stop!"

"Nope."

"H-Hey! Listen to me!"

The four people stepped back in front of Kai, but he pushed them aside with telekinesis.

"If you don’t stop right now, then I’ll make your life a living hell in this academy!" She knew she shouldn’t have said that, but that was the only way to get Kai’s attention.

Still, he didn’t stop and continued walking.

"Sure, sure, go ahead. I can’t wait to see what stunts you pull. After all, that doesn’t sound very Hero-like." He turned around to smirk. Since everyone was here to become a hero, threatening someone like this went against their entire policy and learning experience.

"Dammit! He’s not like those other commoners who just eat up whatever I tell them. Does he have a backer? But that shouldn’t be the case." She wondered.

"Maybe Janna is backing him."

"No, that doesn’t seem like the case. I looked at his file, and he doesn’t have her listed as one. There’s something else going on and I’m going to unvocer what it is. I need him on my side."
