CHAPTER 53: SERAPHINE’S FAVORITE

DAVINA

"Are you being serious right now?" I snapped back at Seraphine, while I paced around the ward room. "We attacked them. We should be taking responsibility."

"But it wasn’t our fault."

"What do you mean?" I stopped, glancing at the boys and Darius who were starting to look at me like I was crazy.

"Their father caused this and that woman—"

"She is my mother."

"I don’t consider her that." She snickered. "Anyways, I won’t do it! Unless you promise me one thing."

"What?"

"Kill that bitch! I hate that I had to be born into the world through her. Selene wouldn’t do anything to her and I can’t stay still. Someone has to take the brunt of what happened that night."

As expected, Seraphine was vengeful, and even though I tried to suppress that part of me, she had immense control over me.

I gritted my teeth, lips pursed in order not to speak, but the minute I let out a sharp breath, she pushed me.

"I will."

She squealed, "You just agreed—"

"No, you forced me...ahhh!"

My body spun in an instant, and I was dashing toward the boys.

"Stretch your hands!" She commanded. I did that on a whim, as I felt Shawn’s injuries.

"Close your eyes..."

She continued to dish out instructions, as she took over completely. At that moment, the air turned still as I began to trace the marks on his body like a dance I had practiced for years.

My fingers dug into his flesh, feeling the oozing blood and the heat from my hands spread into him.

"Fuck!" The sharp curse of pain, made my eyes fly open in panic.

"Girl! Concentrate! Your mates aren’t going to die..."

Seraphine was practically rolling her eyes and the next second, she forced me to continue what I started. Soon, I had left Shawn and Ethan and I came to Uriel.

I opened my eyes briefly to see him smiling warmly at me. In my head, he looked like a pet dog wagging his tail at me.

And he held my chin gently, "It’s so good to see you again..."

He wouldn’t stop staring and he wouldn’t let me go, as Seraphine willed my hand to his injury. And the next second, he pulled me onto him, straight to his thighs.

"You must be so tired..." He whispered, while wiping the streaks of sweat on my face. "Rest for a while before you continue..."

"Uriel..." I swallowed, as my cheeks grew rounder. "Don’t do this here... I need to heal you first."

"You can do that later..." He held my waist even tighter, as his lips hovered on mine, desperately begging for a kiss.

I glanced at Darius who quickly looked away and the boys even though they looked alright with it, the fleeting look of jealousy in their eyes couldn’t be ignored.

Seraphine who had been in control earlier had now completely relaxed while swooning in my mind.

"I like him..." She giggled. "He is not desperate and all he wants is you."

But then I pushed against him, "You need to stop..." I whispered as he held me tighter and his lips crashed on mine.

The last thing I heard was footsteps and the door closing while Uriel lay me on the bed. His hands never left me as his tongue slipped into my mouth tasting every inch of my warmth.

I settled into him, craving him just as much as he did for me. As I traced the marks on his skin, all I wanted to do was heal him but I also wanted to remain in his arms.

The mix of emotions, the longing, and the will deep in my heart surged through me harder.

I mimicked the same hand movements I did on Shawn and Ethan and every inch I touched on him felt the heat. His fingers dug into my flesh, to suppress the sharp pain he was feeling but he made sure not to hurt me.

Just at the last moment, when his injury had closed up, he held my hand. He pulled away, staring at me with starry eyes with tears at the edges.

"Thank you..." He whispered. "For coming back..."

"If I had lost you, I wouldn’t know my way anymore, Vina."

My heart tightened when I felt the warmth of his tears on my shoulders. His eyes were too heavy to even hold back the tears as he sank his head into my shoulders.

"I’m sorry. Did it hit you this hard?"

"Of course..." he laughed, hard and strained. "I am sorry for not rescuing you with Shawn. I promise never to let you out of my sight, again."

His words weren’t just a bluff, as I could feel the strong rhythm of his heart as he spoke.

Even Seraphine was down for him so bad, "Uriel is my favorite."

I stayed there, liking the warmth he gave after the feel cold hands of that Seer at the Alpha’s mansion gnawed my memories.

But the door opened and Darius appeared at the door.

"Come with me, Davina."

"Huh..." I glanced at Uriel who was deep asleep and slowly, I slipped away, going after Darius.

"Is anything the problem? Where are Shawn and Ethan?"

"They left for a while, to get your living space ready. You all will live at the pack for now."

I stopped, turning to look at him, "Is everything going to be alright? Is Alpha Diego going to come after us?"

"Don’t worry, you will be safe here—"

"I need you to tell me the truth, Darius." I cut in. "You and I know we are not safe. Diego is coming."

"Yes..." He sighed. "I guess I can’t lie about that anymore. But I promise, for now, you will be safe."

"Trust me."

I nodded, but the unease in my heart didn’t diminish at all. The words of the goddess and Seraphine’s thirst for vengeance weren’t going to just vanish because we were safe.

And Diego was after something too.

"Where are you taking me?" I asked as he ushered me out of the hospital into a car.

"To Alpha Damian."

"Ohh..." The fleeting look of suspicion and doubt in my eyes was caught by him.

And he let out a sheepish smile, "Don’t worry. You will be fine."

"Do the brothers know about this?"

"No..." Darius shrugged. "They don’t have to know for now. You can speak to them later—"

"Why?" I snapped. "They have to know! What if they get worried? What if Uriel wakes up and doesn’t see me by his side?"

However, he smiled wryly, "It’s not that deep, right?"

"It is..." I hissed while I glanced at the road. We were a bit far away from the hospital but then, I would willfully go back to my mates than go to an Alpha I couldn’t trust.

They were all the same. A bunch of power-hungry people. At least, I had to have my support before facing someone like him.

"Stop the car!"

"No, Davina. We will be done—"

"Stop the car!" I snapped, and at that moment, Seraphine came to the surface. My eyes were a ball of fire and I could see my reflection and the fear in Darius’ eyes.

He stepped on the brakes in the blink of an eye and I got out of the car, stomping on the road back to the hospital.

"Davina! Wait!"

He came after me, breathing hard and clasping his hands together, "I promise, you will be safe. The Alpha just needs to see you."

"I don’t want to see him without my mates! We have not even discussed what I am. How I came about this entity inside me, and you want to push me out there when I’m not even one bit prepared?"

"Why?" His brows creased. "You are the blood wolf, the one the Alpha wants to see. Not them."

I stood back, my brows creasing, "Why don’t you want them there?"

"Huh?"

"Are you scared that they won’t stand the Alpha if he talks out of line?"

"No, that’s not it..."

"I don’t believe you." I sneered.

He sighed, looking defeated, "I admit. I don’t want them there."

"The only reason why you all are still here is because of you. If the Alpha doesn’t get to see you tonight, you all might be thrown out of the Pack tomorrow."

"I tried everything I could to stop this, but I couldn’t..." His eyes turned blurry with a silent plea. "Just see the Alpha, only this time, huh? Trust me?"

I pursed my lips, as I felt the weight of his words on my shoulders. The burden pressed down on my chest and left a bitter taste in my mouth.

And even though Darius looked sincere, it would still be stupid of me to see the Alpha without my mates. They were my support, especially since I didn’t know the full extent of who I was yet.

I took a step back, "I can’t."

I hastened my steps, running from Darius. But then, the screech of car tyres echoed through the night and I saw a luxurious car coming at me.

I halted, and the next second, I had Darius by my side and he pulled me behind him.

"No matter what..." His eyes hardened. "Stay behind me."
