CHAPTER 90: CHAPTER 86 NO ONE HAS MY BACK ANYMORE

Yan An is no longer at Fenglin Villa, but Qiao Yuxian hasn’t left. She’s been waiting at Fenglin Villa.

Until eleven o’clock in the evening, Gu Yanjing returned, and Qiao Yuxian was already asleep on the sofa.

She was lying on the sofa, with a blanket covering her.

Gu Yanjing entered the living room and walked over to the sofa. As he was about to put down his coat, he saw the person sleeping on the sofa.

Qiao Yuxian also heard the footsteps and opened her eyes for a moment.

Her eyes suddenly opened, slightly bloodshot with fatigue, yet there was a sharp alertness.

It vanished in an instant when she saw Gu Yanjing and settled quietly.

She looked at Gu Yanjing and noticed there was no one else beside him. Then she closed her eyes again and turned over, facing the inside of the sofa to continue sleeping.

Aunt Mei came out, took the coat from Gu Yanjing’s hand, and whispered, "Sir, madam has been waiting for you."

Gu Yanjing lowered his eyes to look at the person curled up on the sofa.

Aunt Mei didn’t say anything further and left with his clothes.

The living room was quiet, with only a warm, dim light on, enveloping everything in warmth.

Gu Yanjing looked at her for a moment and called out, "Qiao Yuxian."

Qiao Yuxian didn’t move or respond.

Gu Yanjing called out again.

Qiao Yuxian covered her ears, and after a few seconds, shifted around and pulled the blanket over her head, hiding herself completely.

Her small back looked rather annoyed.

Gu Yanjing: "......"

He didn’t speak further, stood watching her for a while, then leaned down and directly lifted her up.

"Ah." Qiao Yuxian softly exclaimed, furrowing her brows.

Gu Yanjing didn’t say anything, carrying her straight upstairs.

Qiao Yuxian wrapped her arms around his neck, leaned against him, and murmured, "I’m so tired, I don’t want to move."

Gu Yanjing looked at her closed eyes.

"When is Aunt coming back?" Qiao Yuxian mumbled.

"I don’t know," Gu Yanjing replied, "she doesn’t want to come back for now."

Standing at her bedroom door, Gu Yanjing paused for a couple of seconds, then suddenly said, "Hold on tighter."

Qiao Yuxian, half-asleep, immediately tightened her grip on him.

Her warm breath scattered across his neck, causing Gu Yanjing’s gaze to flutter for a moment, hesitating for a few seconds. One arm supported her knees, while the other released her to turn the doorknob, entering the room.

Turning on the light, he placed her on the bed.

As soon as she lay down, Qiao Yuxian rolled herself up in the quilt, lying face down on the bed.

She sighed lightly, kept her eyes closed, opened and closed her lips as she said, "What do I do? Without Aunt, there’s no one to back me up. You’ll bully me."

Gu Yanjing: "......"

"Don’t bully me," Qiao Yuxian’s voice came out muffled.

"Weren’t you the one who started it first?" Gu Yanjing retorted with a light tone.

Every time, she would be the one to ’stir things up’. When Gu Yanjing showed even a slightly stern expression, she would shout and complain.

Qiao Yuxian fell silent.

Qiao Yuxian felt like she didn’t have the upper hand.

Qiao Yuxian buried her face in the pillow, trying to hide and avoid the topic.

Fearing she might stifle herself, Gu Yanjing leaned down to pull her out from the pillow, then lifted her off the quilt.

He let her lay properly on the bed and tucked the quilt around her.

Qiao Yuxian obediently let him fuss over her.

After settling in, she gazed at him, blinking her eyes, "Can I go see Aunt?"

"Yes," Gu Yanjing replied.

"Can I go anytime?" Qiao Yuxian asked again.

"Mm."

Qiao Yuxian smiled happily.

Seeing the smile on her face, Gu Yanjing said, "Go to sleep."

"Mm," Qiao Yuxian closed her eyes, "Good night."

"Good night."

...

For a few days after the school began, Qiao Lech didn’t attend classes.

The swelling on her face had subsided, leaving only a slight mark.

It’s not a big issue temporarily whether she goes to school or not.

However, she’s not contacting her classmates.

She doesn’t answer calls from her classmates or roommates, nor does she reply to their messages. Most of the time, she keeps her phone off and rarely touches it.

Her interaction with family is quite normal.

She just refuses to communicate with outsiders and doesn’t want to go out.

Qiao Yuxian has been worried about her situation, so whenever Shen Wenyan has time, she immediately goes to the Sixth Hospital.

She had agreed to inform him before going.

However, she didn’t say anything, timing her visit for midday.

Shen Wenyan is the youngest yet most authoritative psychologist at the Sixth Hospital.

His consultation isn’t expensive, but it’s very hard to get an appointment.

At eleven-thirty, nearing the end of office hours, Qiao Yuxian arrived outside his office.

It was almost twelve, when people inside started coming out.

Only then did Shen Wenyan officially finish work.

Qiao Yuxian holding a thermal box knocked on the door...

Standing at the desk removing his white coat, Shen Wenyan paused midway upon hearing the knocking, looking towards the door.

He saw a little head poking in.

First, he was stunned, then his face brightened with a smile, excitedly saying, "Whose child is this?"

Qiao Yuxian’s eyes curved with laughter as she entered, waving her consultation slip and saying, "Doctor Shen, I’m here for a consultation."

Shen Wenyan’s features were quite sharp, with some keenness, but his smiling eyes always carried a gentle look.

He removed his white coat, revealing a black shirt underneath, his physique looked great. He smiled, "No need for a consultation slip, I’ll examine you for free."

"Guess how much I paid for this slip?" Qiao Yuxian said as she walked in, placing the thermal box on his desk.

Looking at her, Shen Wenyan paused and said, "Did you get it from a scalper?"

"Yes," Qiao Yuxian said, a bit annoyed, "Five thousand one, just for this one slip! And that’s within five minutes. I hesitated a bit, and it went up by five hundred."

Shen Wenyan’s special consultation appointments cost five hundred.

Regular ones are only one hundred.

But outside, scalpers would always resell them.

Shen Wenyan frowned briefly.

His double eyelids were somewhat deep, without a smile, he appeared quite sharp.

"But I reported it and had the scalper caught," Qiao Yuxian said happily, "He sold the slip to me, and I called the police to catch him."

Seeing her smile, Shen Wenyan also smiled a bit.

Qiao Yuxian opened the thermal box, "Brother Wenyan, these are all your favorites, I made them myself."

The smile in Shen Wenyan’s eyes deepened, "Thank you."

"You’re welcome," Qiao Yuxian said, pulling a chair to sit down and have the meal with him. Watching him eat a piece of fish, she asked, "How is it? My cooking hasn’t deteriorated, has it? I haven’t cooked much recently."

"No, it’s even better than before," Shen Wenyan replied.

Qiao Yuxian smiled.

Shen Wenyan tried each dish, then took a gift box from his desk drawer, placing it in front of Qiao Yuxian, "My mom asked me to give you this gift."

"Hmm?" Qiao Yuxian put down her chopsticks, opened the gift box, and found a pair of pearl earrings inside, "You met Aunt?"

"Yes," Shen Wenyan said, "She was on a business trip, we met briefly."

Qiao Yuxian directly put them on her ears, shaking her head from side to side, making the pearls sway, "Do they look good?"

"Yes," Shen Wenyan said with a smile.

Qiao Yuxian shook her head again, "Help me thank Aunt."

"I will definitely convey it," Shen Wenyan said looking at her.
