CHAPTER 304: CHAPTER 304: LIN FU’S SEARCH FOR RELATIVES (2)
Aunt Lin quickly replied with a message, incredulously asking, "Really? Are you kidding me?"
Lin Mu: "Really, I came to Sea City to have some fun, and since I’m close to you, I thought I’d drop by. Big Sister, quickly send me your location."
Aunt Lin happily sent the location, "I’m getting your rooms ready now; you can’t leave tonight. Stay at my place for a while and have some fun..."
"Oh, and I’ll make lunch for you. Come and eat at my house. I’m going to start cooking now..."
Lin Mu hurriedly said, "No, big sister, we’re still far from you. Who knows when we’ll arrive at your place? We’ll eat lunch on the road, so don’t cook for us!"
Lin Fu also said, "Big Sister, let’s have a drink with brother-in-law tonight!"
...
Lin Xiaoyan sat in the passenger seat, watching her parents happily chatting with Aunt Lin and Uncle Lin behind her, feeling a warmth in her heart.
She also felt a bit happy that she could take her parents to visit Aunt Lin and Aunt together.
This was the first time visiting Aunt Lin’s home.
Also the first time to search for her Aunt.
If her parents were happy, she was happy too.
When they reached a town twenty minutes away from Aunt Lin’s house, Nan Xi parked the car by the roadside and said, "Let’s have lunch here."
Lin Xiaoyan nodded, "Okay."
Lin Fu and Lin Mu got out of the car, stretched their bodies, and curiously looked around.
"Let’s find a restaurant to order some food."
"Sure."
The four of them wandered around the town looking for a restaurant. "There’s a dumpling shop here."
Lin Mu pointed to a deserted shop and said.
Lin Fu looked around, then asked in surprise, "It’s already past twelve, why are the restaurants here so quiet?
Don’t the people here come out to eat?"
Lin Xiaoyan was also puzzled. She had been to some towns before, and although some places were remote, it wasn’t like entering a restaurant and finding no customers at all.
Nan Xi glanced around and then looked down at his phone, saying, "We’re probably on the outskirts of the town; not many people are around."
Lin Fu, hearing this, thought it could be true.
"How about we have dumplings then?"
"Okay."
They all went into the dumpling shop and saw a woman in her forties sitting inside, wrapping dumplings.
"Boss, four servings of dumplings," Lin Fu said to the woman in the shop, smiling, "What kind of filling do you have?"
The woman, hearing Lin Fu’s words, sized him up and said, "We only have pork and green onion filling right now."
Lin Fu, hearing this, looked at his wife, daughter, and Xiao Nan, and the other three nodded, indicating it was fine.
Lin Fu: "Alright, then four servings of pork and green onion dumplings."
Boss: "We don’t serve by servings; it’s by the piece!"
Lin Fu: ???
"By the piece? That’s fine; serve us four plates. If it’s not enough, we’ll order more."
"How many pounds do you want to eat?"
"How many are in a plate?"
"We don’t measure by plates; we don’t have that system. It’s either by pieces or by pounds!"
The woman’s tone was impatient, but Lin Fu didn’t get angry. He continued to speak kindly, "We’re not familiar with pounds, so how many dumplings roughly per plate here?"
Boss: "Six dumplings per plate."
Lin Fu was surprised, "Only six?"
The boss coldly replied, "Yes, six dumplings per plate, twelve yuan."
Lin Fu craned his neck to look at the dumplings the woman was making; they weren’t big, just normal-sized. Two yuan per dumpling?!
Lin Xiaoyan glanced at the woman’s indifferent face, tugged at her dad, and said, "Dad, let’s eat somewhere else. I don’t want dumplings."
Lin Fu nodded, "Alright, these dumplings are too expensive. Six dumplings for twelve yuan, I can eat twenty to thirty at a meal, how much would that cost..."
Lin Mu was also speechless, "Are things here that pricey? Two yuan per dumpling, more than our steamed buns back home."
Behind them, the boss, seeing them leaving, muttered under his breath, "Outsiders who can’t even afford dumplings, broke people!"
Lin Xiaoyan and her family didn’t hear this; they had already walked out of the shop by then.
Nan Xi found a restaurant on her phone and led Lin Fu and the others to it.
After crossing a traffic light, quite suddenly, there were lots of people on the street, bustling around, which made it feel lively.
Lin Fu sighed, "Seems like we were looking in the wrong place just now."
Lin Mu nodded, "There are plenty of people here, and a lot of restaurants too, though I wonder if they’re expensive..."
Lin Xiaoyan glanced at the surrounding restaurants and found a fast-food place, "Let’s just grab something quick for lunch, and take Aunt and them out for a proper dinner tonight."
"Okay."
The four entered the fast-food place and checked the menu; the prices were the same as back home, which relieved Lin Fu and Lin Mu.
Apparently, the two yuan per dumpling had startled them.
After finishing their meal, the four got back in the car and continued towards Aunt Lin’s place.
Twenty minutes later, they arrived on a country road.
Outside, it started to drizzle, and the air was very moist.
Lin Mu looked out the car window, "No wonder your Aunt Lin said it’s very humid here, look, the rain never stops."
Lin Xiaoyan nodded, "Yeah, it’s more humid than where we live. The air in Sea City is also quite humid."
"When I got back home for those few days, it felt so dry, waking up with a dry mouth every day."
Lin Fu: "You’ve probably gotten used to the humidity in Sea City after being there so long."
Lin Mu: "Oh, why is this road getting narrower?"
Lin Xiaoyan and Lin Fu quickly looked up front, and indeed, it was. But now, all around were fields, with no houses in sight.
"Mom, video call Aunt Lin to see if we’re on the wrong path." Lin Xiaoyan promptly suggested.
Nan Xi stopped the car, checked the map, and said, "It should be right; we just need to go another two kilometers..."
Lin Mu: "No rush, I’ll video call to make sure we’re not lost before continuing."
Nan Xi nodded in agreement.
Aunt Lin quickly answered the video call and immediately said, "Yes, yes, keep going forward, you’re almost at my place!"
Hearing this, Nan Xi started the car again and drove ahead.
Before long, they saw Aunt Lin standing at the village entrance, waving at them.
Lin Xiaoyan’s family successfully reunited with Aunt Lin.
In the evening, they had dinner with Aunt Lin’s family. Early the next morning, Aunt Lin had already prepared breakfast, and after Lin Xiaoyan’s family finished eating, they offered to leave.
Aunt Lin tried hard to keep them for a few more days.
But Lin Mu knew Lin Fu wanted to find his sister-in-law, so she said they’d come back on their way home.
Aunt Lin reluctantly agreed, having heard from her younger sister about it the night before, but since her brother-in-law’s sister’s married place was quite far from her, she couldn’t offer much help.
Lin Xiaoyan’s family set off again, aiming to reach the address left behind by Aunt today.
That day, Lin Fu barely spoke, driving for half the day, and in the afternoon, Nan Xi drove.
Around three o’clock, they arrived at a village.
This place was the address left by Aunt Lin many years ago.
