Chapter 37: The Frustrated Susan
CHAPTER 37: CHAPTER 37: THE FRUSTRATED SUSAN
Lin Xiaoyan’s mind was constantly flickering with these questions.
Until after work, she saw Doctor Yang at the company!
"Hey, long time no see, Xiaoyan." Yang Lin waved and greeted Lin Xiaoyan.
"Doctor Yang? What are you doing here?" Lin Xiaoyan looked at Yang Lin, her face full of surprise.
Yang Lin was currently at the elevator entrance on the floor where Lin Xiaoyan and her colleagues worked.
He had just come down from Jing Yi, specifically waiting for Lin Xiaoyan here.
At this moment, the colleagues coming and going saw Yang Lin and Lin Xiaoyan and kept glancing at them.
Ai Lin walked over, puzzled at Lin Xiaoyan talking to a man.
"Xiao Lin, who’s this?"
Lin Xiaoyan turned around and saw Sister Lin walking over, noticing the inquiring looks from others at the same time.
Lin Xiaoyan ignored everyone else, smiling as she introduced, "Sister Lin, this is an ophthalmologist from the Central Hospital, Doctor Yang, who healed my eyes before."
Ai Lin’s face instantly lit up when she heard the man in front of her was a doctor from the Central Hospital, "Hello."
Yang Lin also smiled, "Hello."
"You guys chat; I’m heading home!"
Ai Lin said no more; the elevator had arrived, and she quickly entered the elevator.
The elevator had just gone down when Susan came out of the office.
She immediately saw a well-dressed, handsome man talking to Lin Xiaoyan.
A shadow passed through her eyes as she stepped forward, her gaze stopping on the man, intimately linking her arm with Lin Xiaoyan’s.
Lin Xiaoyan was startled by someone linking her arm; she instinctively withdrew her arm and stepped back.
Susan saw Lin Xiaoyan as if avoiding poison, a hint of anger flickering in her eyes.
Then she complained with a sweet voice, "Oh, Xiaoyan, what’s wrong with you?"
Lin Xiaoyan looked at the coy Susan, goosebumps instantly surfacing, raising her head to look above. There was no air conditioning vent, so why suddenly so cold!
Seeing Susan acting essentially the same as she had lately, Lin Xiaoyan expressionlessly watched her performance.
"Xiaoyan, who’s this...?"
Susan shyly looked at Yang Lin, inquiring Lin Xiaoyan.
Yang Lin glanced at Susan, ignoring her, having seen lots of people like her since he was young.
He looked at Lin Xiaoyan, still gently said, "Let’s go. We’ll head to the restaurant first; Jing Yi will join us after a small meeting."
Lin Xiaoyan nodded, and the two went down by elevator together.
Susan stood awkwardly on the spot; she walked into the elevator at the last moment before it closed.
Seeing Susan enter the elevator, Lin Xiaoyan lowered her eyelids, not wanting to deal with Susan.
To those kind to her, she gave back a hundredfold sincerity.
Conversely, with those unkind, she didn’t even maintain appearances.
Susan stared directly at Yang Lin more and more, feeling he was suitable for her.
"What’s your name? I’m Susan, twenty-four years old, single..." In the small elevator, Susan alone eagerly introduced herself.
Lin Xiaoyan lowered her head without speaking.
Yang Lin glanced at Susan, his heart disliking her gaze on him.
Nevertheless, due to his upbringing, he didn’t say anything unpleasant.
Susan saw Yang Lin staying silent, her eyes deepened, and she turned towards Lin Xiaoyan, speaking somewhat sharply.
"Xiaoyan, are you still mad at me? I’m just speaking the truth; something with the manager happened recently since you’ve been taking leave..."
Lin Xiaoyan suddenly raised her head, coldly staring at Susan, "You..."
Beside her, Yang Lin also hardened his face, sternly saying, "Miss, mind your words. What you just said can entirely be charged as slander!"
Susan faltered, not expecting the man to speak for Lin Xiaoyan.
She looked sadly at Yang Lin, "I didn’t; everyone in our office says so. I don’t know..."
Yang Lin’s eyes flashed sharply, "You should get a mirror and look at your face right now; it’s extremely annoying!
Not only do your words irritate others, but your pretentiousness also bothers their eyes."
Lin Xiaoyan was surprised at the always gentle Doctor Yang, not expecting him to say such stinging words.
Her peripheral vision caught Susan’s contorted expression, and Lin Xiaoyan mentally awarded Doctor Yang a big cheer!
"Ding"
The elevator door opened, Yang Lin’s unfriendly gaze turned to Susan, "He who sins dies a natural death; this advice is for you."
Then he turned, his face gentle again as he looked at Lin Xiaoyan, "Let’s go."
Lin Xiaoyan glancing at aggrieved Susan felt a sense of satisfaction, leaving the elevator with Yang Lin.
Yang Lin had driven here; he took Lin Xiaoyan to Sea City’s Four Directions Restaurant.
Four Directions is a private dining restaurant; it’s said the chefs inside inherit skills from ancient imperial chefs.
Its headquarters are in Beijing; Sea City is a branch. Reservations are needed a week in advance to dine at Four Directions.
Furthermore, the dishes inside are very pricey, catering only to elite classes.
Lin Xiaoyan didn’t know about Four Directions before, only learning from colleagues chatting after starting work.
The two quickly arrived at Four Directions.
"Hello, please show your QR code."
Yang Lin revealed his phone; the guard scanned it, smiled widely, inviting the two in upon seeing the reserved private room.
Yang Lin considerately led Lin Xiaoyan into Four Directions. Upon entering, Lin Xiaoyan was captivated by the scenery inside.
The entire Four Directions decor is ancient style, be it architectural design or courtyard setup, all very splendid.
Moreover, this decor exceeds the beauty of architectures seen in period dramas.
What’s more, every aspect here exudes nobility.
Lin Xiaoyan felt a bit nervous, entirely mismatched with this place.
"Hello, this way please."
A waiter came, respectfully guiding the two to the private room.
Yang Lin noted Lin Xiaoyan’s nervousness towards the decorative surroundings and slowed his pace, gently explaining it to her.
"Isn’t it beautiful here?"
Lin Xiaoyan slightly raised her head, nodding, "Yes."
"Look here, this comes from..."
Lin Xiaoyan slowly got drawn into Yang Lin’s intriguing commentary, her nervousness fading away.
"Beijing’s Four Directions is even more interesting than here; if we get a chance to go there, I’ll take you to have fun."
Yang Lin said smilingly.
Lin Xiaoyan gently nodded, a smile appearing, "Okay, if we get the chance."
The smiling waiter waited beside throughout; seeing them finish talking, she continued guiding them to the private room.
"Please take a seat, are there more guests coming?"
Yang Lin nodded, "There’s one more not here yet, please leave us for now."
"Alright, enjoy your tea, I’ll be by the door. Call me if you need anything..."
"Alright, thank you."
"You’re welcome."
After the waiter left, Lin Xiaoyan slightly relaxed, her body unwinding a bit, finally raising her head to view the surroundings.
