?Chapter 1494:

He had dared to stand up to Jules and Corrine, thinking the Ford name would hold back—that they wouldn’t risk their reputation. But Jules’ words shattered that belief.

“For what you did to my aunt… if she hadn’t begged on your behalf, the Hond family would’ve been wiped out long ago,” Jules said as he stepped forward. He crushed the cigarette on Dewey’s chest. The burn pierced through the fabric and into his skin.

Dewey winced, clenching his teeth, his face twisted in pain.

Jules stared him down, eyes sharp and voice low. “Don’t take my warning lightly. Next time, you’ll be driven out of Pree City.” Then he turned and walked away.

When Kiley died, the Ford family never got to see her onest time. One day, a letter arrived.

In it, she asked Carl to forgive her stubbornness. She begged him to bring Corrine back to the Ford family and treat her well—so she could rest in peace. Herst request was that the Hond family not be harmed.

After reading the letter, Carl was furious. He skipped dinner and tore it to shreds in rage.

Later, Jayden investigated the Hond family’s affairs. He discovered Dewey had brought his mistress home not long after Kiley’s death—and even had a child with her. And still, Kiley had written that letter on her deathbed. It was heartbreaking—and maddening.

Even love shouldn’t make someone that foolish.

Yet, out of respect for her dying wish, the Ford family had remained silent all these years.

But Dewey’s actions today had crossed the line.

One more step, and Jules wouldn’t hold back. Kiley’s plea wouldn’t protect them anymore.

Dewey stood frozen, hand clutching his burned chest, eyes locked on Jules’ back as he walked away. His gaze turned cold. “Aren’t you curious why your aunt always protected the Hond family?”

Jules paused. Slowly, he turned around, expression nk.

“She cheated first,” Dewey said, taking a breath. His lips curled into a smug smile. “Before she died, she made a deal with me. How about we strike one too? I’m not asking much—just want to keep my current status. It all ties back to Corrine.”

Honestly, Dewey never thought the Ford family would value Corrine this much.

But the more they protected her, the easier it became to get what he wanted.

Jules’ face shifted, his smile turning sharp and dangerous. “Are you threatening me?”
