Farris nodded weakly, his voice barely audible. “I willingly leave all my assets to Corrine Hond.”

Before the final syble left his lips, the door crashed open.

Tracy burst into the room like a tempest, addressing thewyer with barely contained rage. “Farris is delirious from his illness. His words are meaningless and legally invalid!”

Thewyer’s brow creased slightly. “I can assess hispetence myself, so your concerns are unnecessary.”

“You!” Tracy shot him a venomous re before swiveling toward the frail figure in the hospital bed. “Farris, your shares directly impact thepany’s stability. Had you bequeathed them to other family members, I wouldn’t protest, but how can you surrender everything to an outsider like Corrine? If not for her meddling, would the Ashton family have fallen so far from grace? Now you’re handing her the shares, deliberately sabotaging our legacy! Besides, Bruce was your chosen sessor. He has devoted years of his life to thepany. Others may remain ignorant of his sacrifice, but you know the truth all too well. How can Bruce possibly maintain his leadership if you transfer the shares to Corrine?”

As Tracy’s bitter usations filled the room, Farris felt a viselike pressure constricting his chest, each breath bing increasinglybored.

His face flushed crimson as the medical monitors surrounding his bed erupted in shrill, ominous rms.

Soon, the hallway filled with hurried footsteps.

Medical personnel in crisp white coats surged into the room. “Everyone out immediately. We need to perform emergency treatment.”

When the other Ashton family members arrived, they discovered Tracy hovering anxiously by the doorway.

“How is Farris?”

“Didn’t the doctor assure us his condition was stable? What triggered this emergency?”

Their questions tumbled forth in rapid session, faces etched with concern and tension.

Tracy lowered her gaze, panic shadowing her features as she mumbled, “How would I know?”

She spotted thewyer attempting to slip away and discreetly extracted herself from the gathered family to intercept him.

“Wait a moment.” Tracy positioned herself directly in thewyer’s path, her eyes fixed on his briefcase. “I overheard your conversation earlier. I don’t wish to create difficulties, but I must insist you allow me to see Farris’ will.”

Thewyer’s lips curved into a thin, professional smile. “I apologize, but that simply isn’t possible. Without my client’s explicit permission, no one may view the document.”

He sidestepped Tracy and continued toward the waiting elevator.

Tracy seized his arm with surprising strength and hissed, “Farris is merely delirious from his illness. He spouts nonsense, but if you enable his foolishness, your career will certainly crumble!”

Thewyer extricated himself from her grip, calmly adjusting his tie. “Thank you for the warning, Mrs. Ashton.”

Tracy’s face darkened with frustration. She yearned to press further, but the memory of Farris’ precarious condition forced her to reluctantly retreat. Deep down, she recognized that once Farrismitted to a decision, he rarely wavered.

Just as he had steadfastly selected Bruce and championed his ascension within thepany.

Thus, her only recourse was to focus her efforts on Corrine.

She couldn’t allow the Ashton family fortune to slip into the clutches of an outsider!

Miles away, Corrine felt a sudden chill of foreboding wash over her.

She nced at her watch, rose from her desk, and poured herself a ss of water.

At that precise moment, her phone trilled to life.

Noticing an unfamiliar number illuminating her screen, Corrine paused momentarily before answering.
