Gray Bear's shout attracted a few more Rune Zombies to bang on the door outside, but it also pulled everyone back to reality from their brief moment of despair.

The reality was: they were like clay Buddhas crossing a river, barely able to protect themselves, with no time to mourn the deaths of the two Lost Ones.

Gao Yang composed himself and analyzed, "I forgot to ask Teacher Li how long the second evening self-study session lasts. Generally, it's 45 to 60 minutes, so we still have some time to wait."

"Everyone, get ready and grab your most handy weapon," Nine Cold said as he walked to the iron cabinet storing medical supplies. He opened it and added, "Take some medicine, just in case."

"Alright," Gray Bear clapped his hands, "What are you all standing around for? Move it!"

"Before that, there's one more thing," Gao Yang paused slightly, his gaze serious, "Everyone check each other's bodies to see if anyone got bitten by the Rune Zombies. Be thorough."

The group was silent for a second, then nodded in agreement.

The men paired up and took turns "searching" each other, mainly checking the limbs, head, and neck. If any part of their clothes had bloodstains, they lifted it to ensure the blood wasn't their own.

Xiang Die, Tin, and Black Sparrow went to the bedside, pulled the curtain, and checked each other.

Soon, the inspection was over, and everyone was safe.

They sat down to rest, no one speaking. Some stared at the clock on the wall, while others took out their signal-less phones and wrote something, perhaps a final message.

Gao Yang also considered leaving a few farewell words for his family and friends on his phone but decided it was too ominous.

He chose to close his eyes and rest.@@novelbin@@
