The Last Gentleman
Chapter 692: 690: Going Ashore
"In a Silver Sea where even death struggles to spread, there lies an island that appears relatively normal. Is William’s old flame hidden within?"
Yi Chen shifted his body to sit as close to the bow of the boat as possible.
Since he was wearing the Abyss Mask, only his mouth was exposed for speaking, while his vision was blocked.
Therefore, he could only provide vision through the ’Second Body’ lying on his back, which looked like an underdeveloped humanoid form peeking from behind his shoulders.
As the outlines became gradually clearer, an island covered with green vegetation came into view, so vast that it completely filled the fan-shaped field of view provided by the eyeballs.
Looking down at the sea was risky, so Yi Chen could only look up at the ’harmless sky’.
The sky here was also quite strange,
It was currently night, without a moon or stars. Logically, this area should have plunged into total darkness, yet the sky still offered a low brightness of white light... or perhaps, moonlight.
It seemed as if light shot upward from the Silver Sea illuminated the black sky, and then partially reflected back to illuminate the island.
It felt like a moon night without the moon.
Although the overall lighting on the island was dim, it was still clear enough that Yi Chen considered releasing Thirteen from the ’Circus Tent’ to provide illumination.
The group stepped off the boat one after another, treading on the moist and soft sandy ground.
Rustle rustle rustle~
A sudden gust of sea wind blew, causing nearby leaves to flutter as if a group of native islanders were clapping their hands to welcome the visitors.
Just as everyone was about to walk towards the interior of the island, their steps suddenly halted,
whether it was Desline’s Star Sensing, William’s killing intent fluctuations, or Dentist Jessica’s teeth perception, they all detected an unusual individual not far away.
A girl wrapped in a plain white long dress with long hair was playing with sand by the sea, seemingly building something.
Desline’s lips twitched slightly, "When we were on the boat just now, I didn’t see anything, which means that something changed in the interval between ’boarding’ and ’disembarking’, or during ’Island Landing’... or perhaps we have fallen into a deeper reality of Illusion Realm.
The first layer of illusion should be set at the junction between the outer ocean and the Silver Sea,
The second layer of illusion is at the boundary between the Silver Sea and the island, reaching the shore means we have fallen deeper. If I am not wrong... the boat we were riding might have disappeared."
Following Desline’s reminder, everyone’s gaze rapidly shifted to look behind the girl.
Indeed, the star-coated wooden boat had vanished, the route back was completely cut off.
This left only one option for the group, which was to initiate a complete exploration of the island, to uncover its secrets, and to break the illusion originating from the Silver Sea Domain.
Of course, before officially stepping into the dense jungle of the island, the girl playing with sand by the sea needed to be investigated.
Desline attempted to identify the girl’s identity through Star Divination,
but when the star particles emerged from her palm, they were immediately disturbed by some unknown magnetic field, disrupting the stars and interrupting the divination.
"Hmm? Magnetic field..."
Desline couldn’t help looking down at her feet, beginning to doubt what the island was really made of.
Just then a dark figure brushed past Desline, heading straight for the girl playing in the sand,
with his hands behind his back, seemingly holding a pitch-black vertebra, exuding an extreme killing intent, one that was unlike any William had ever exhibited.
Desline could even see countless viscous dead bodies clinging to his body, entwining around him, governed by the killing intent.
"Yi."
When the principal called out this name, Yi Chen’s hand gently swung, signaling them to stay put while he investigated.
"Be careful."
The principal uttered a concerned reminder before retreating to Jessica’s side,
Dentist Jessica had been standing motionless since disembarking the boat, constantly grinding her teeth. As a physician, she was accustomed to staying behind to observe and provide help when appropriate.
Like this, Yi Chen alone, left thick shoe imprints on the sandy beach as he approached approximately twenty meters from a mysterious young girl.
Yi Chen chose to stand beside the girl, his gaze fixed on her tiny neck while he kindly asked,
"Hello, little sister, how much do you know about this island? Can you share it with me? If possible, could you take us to meet the master here?"
This seemed like an ordinary question,
but from afar, in the eyes of Desline and Jessica, Yi Chen looked like an executioner, ready to execute the girl kneeling before him at any moment. They could even vaguely make out a ’guillotine’ of killing intent that had already secured the girl in place.
Facing Yi Chen’s question, the girl stopped what she was doing.
She didn’t respond, perhaps because she lacked the ability to speak, and slowly turned her head to face Yi Chen.
There was no face, just a bald surface full of round indentations... or perhaps moon craters, giving the entire face the appearance of a moon.
A bizarre illusion technique instantly swept through Yi Chen’s brain, just before his Madness Brain was breached.
[Axes]
Yi Chen decisively swung his hand axe, where killing intent and death merged to form a guillotine... Snap! The girl’s eerie head was completely severed, and the moon-structured head tumbled down the beach into the ocean.
The headless corpse knelt on the sand,
and just as the mixture of black liquid and Death Plague was about to devour the physical body, a strange thing happened.
A mass of dead fish burst forth from the neck, falling to the ground and turning into a pile of extremely foul-smelling dead fish.
These fish took away all the death components from the neck region, leaving the headless body unaffected.
Soon after, the next mutation occurred.
Creak, creak~
Rows of silver tendrils emerged from the neck area, so numerous and dense, looking both like human intestines and forcibly elongated fingers, or tongues cut into strips.
They weaved into each other in bizarre and even chaotic patterns,
creating a structure reminiscent of a sunflower atop the small girl’s neck, measuring a full five meters in diameter.
At the center of that silver sunflower, crowded together were the bald heads of young girls, densely packed like seeds, causing discomfort.
To support such a sunflower structure, the girl’s frail body grew several additional legs that even rooted into the beach.
Yi Chen, with his extensive knowledge, recognized the essence of this creature at a glance.
"Oh? Did my good intentions backfire? That moon-shaped head of the girl might have been a ’Restriction Device’. After being beheaded by me, her chaotic essence has now been revealed.
This creature, which does not belong to the Old World, exudes an aura of confusion and loss of control, could it be one of the lifeforms governed by that Insomniac, Galon?"
Just as Yi Chen was preparing to kill again,
Giggle~ Ha ha~
The heads growing on the sunflower structure began to emit child-like laughter, and then each head detached itself and shot out,
falling to the ground like seeds,
swiftly moving using the silver fingers, intestines, or snail-like soft tissues linked at the neck into the nearby ocean.
The heads floated on the surface of the Silver Sea, resembling a group of children playing in the water, even casting grateful glances toward Yi Chen on the shore.
But the next second, an unnatural disturbance appeared on the sea surface.
Some kind of colossal, translucent creature abruptly emerged, and in one gulp, devoured all the children’s heads, and in an instant everything returned to peace.
Leaving behind only the rooted silver sunflower on the beach with its seeds hollowed out, alongside three people with varying expressions.
