CHAPTER 102: CHAPTER 102: I JUST WANT TO HOLD YOU

Saying that Gloria Galloway is a beautiful girl is not an exaggeration at all.

She started school very early. Originally, Eleanor Hollis thought she started school early enough, but Gloria was two to three years younger than her peers. I heard she skipped grades all the way through school, just like playing a game.

"Gloria, I’ve missed you so much!"

Samantha Sullivan got out of the car and ran towards Gloria.

Gloria was shoved into her ample bosom, almost suffocating.

Samantha always had a great figure, and in the dorm, her chest was the biggest.

Unexpectedly, her size had changed again, and Gloria curiously gave it a poke, "Aren’t these two a bit heavy for you?"

Samantha snorted, slapping her hand away.

When Gloria saw Eleanor, her eyes curved into a smile.

"Gloria, welcome back."

Compared to Samantha’s enthusiasm, Eleanor’s greeting was too formal.

Gloria used to work in Serenford, but the opportunity for an overseas assignment was rare. As long as she stayed there for three years, she would have more promotion opportunities than her peers.

So, at that time, she went without hesitation.

"Come on, let’s find a place to eat. I’m starving."

Gloria threw her suitcase into the trunk and stretched out in the car.

"It’s a bit hot today. We were planning to eat Sichuan cuisine, but now I think we’d be drenched in sweat. Why don’t we have Western food instead?"

Samantha generously treated them, and as the three sat down, Gloria started to chatter.

"Eleanor, how are you getting along with your husband? When I left, you two were like water and fire."

Gloria had left here for three years.

When she left, Eleanor and Nathaniel Quinn had been married for more than two years. At that time, she was still in turmoil from losing her child, and her relationship with Nathaniel had deteriorated to the extreme. She often vented to her two friends.

These years, Gloria fought hard outside, never really hearing about Eleanor’s situation with Nathaniel.

"I divorced him."

Gloria’s eyes widened in surprise, then she nodded heavily.

"It’s good to split. Let him get together with that slut Grace Lynch early. Isn’t there a saying like ’couple a bitch with a dog, and they’ll last forever’? Eleanor, you deserve better."

Both Gloria and Samantha knew about the absurd things Nathaniel did. They had advised Eleanor to break up with him more than once, but she insisted on improving their relationship. They really couldn’t understand her stubbornness.

Samantha saw Gloria’s furious expression and gently patted her hand, "Calm down. Although she divorced Nathaniel, she managed to snag his uncle, Hugo Quinn, that guy who’s always in financial magazines."

Gloria was even more shocked, "Whoa! Wow!"

She didn’t care that it was a Western restaurant. After roaring those words, she patted Eleanor’s shoulder excitedly.

"I always knew you weren’t one to just go along with things. I didn’t expect such a spectacular comeback this time. Now that scumbag Nathaniel is your junior, just thinking about it is satisfying."

Eleanor moved her lips, wanting to say she wasn’t entangled with Hugo to get back at Nathaniel and Grace, but if she said that, the two would probably pester her with questions, so she decided to let this beautiful misunderstanding continue,

"Gloria, how about you? Now that you’ve been transferred back, are you getting promoted? After all, you’ve held it in for three years, determined to rise."

Samantha smiled and said, knowing Gloria is not one to accept defeat.

Her appearance was deceiving, so when she initially submitted resumes, many companies politely rejected her, thinking she looked too cute and couldn’t handle the pressure.

Gloria proudly held her head up. Those who underestimated her were going to eat their words. She achieved great things for her company in those three years abroad.

When the food arrived, the three stopped talking.

After the meal, as they walked out of the restaurant, Gloria was still immersed in the joy of the upcoming promotion.

"Why don’t you stay at my place tonight? You haven’t found a place yet, and I’m close to your office."

Samantha suggested, and the three got back in the car.

But Eleanor’s phone rang, and she found it was Hugo calling. She felt a bit embarrassed, especially with her two friends staring at her under intense scrutiny, making her head tingle.

"Mommy, when will you be back?"

Marcus’s gentle voice came through.

Eleanor’s heart instantly softened, "Soon, we’ve just finished dinner. Have you and Dad eaten yet?"

"We had takeout."

"Okay, I’ll be home soon."

The gentleness on Eleanor’s face was enough to drown someone, making Gloria stare in a daze.

After she hung up, Gloria sidled over secretively, "This kid isn’t Grace’s child, is it? Wow, Eleanor, you really did it. Not only did you snag her man, but the kid too. Grace is probably furious with you."

They had known how badly Eleanor had been bullied by Grace and had wished she could turn the tables.

"I’ll head home first; I won’t take your car."

Eleanor smiled, clutched her bag, hailed a taxi, and soon disappeared.

Gloria and Samantha also got into the car, and thus, the dinner ended satisfactorily.

Eleanor returned home and saw Hugo telling stories to Marcus, a rare moment of warmth.

She put the fruits she bought downstairs into the fridge and quietly poured herself a glass of warm water.

"Could you find me some stomach medicine?"

Hugo suddenly spoke up, having eaten too hastily while he was busy handling the contract, and now his stomach was a little uncomfortable.

"Okay."

Eleanor hurriedly fetched the medicine box at home and found a stomach pill for him.

Marcus had already fallen asleep on the sofa, and Hugo kindly covered him with a blanket.

"Let’s carry him to bed."

Eleanor adjusted Marcus’s blanket, finding the child sleeping peacefully.

Suddenly, Hugo bent down and hugged her waist from behind, the shameful posture instantly making her blush. Afraid of waking Marcus, she spoke softly.

"What is it?"

"Just suddenly wanted to hug you."

Hugo said with his face against her back. Her quietly sneaking in earlier looked so cute. Only someone who genuinely cared for Marcus would notice such details.

Eleanor thought this man could publish a ’Book of Sweet Talk.’ How had she not noticed his hidden romantic side before...

"Alright, I’ll carry Marcus to bed now."

She slapped Hugo’s hand away, completely unaware that their interaction was now like an old married couple.
