The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad
Chapter 103: Outburst
CHAPTER 103: CHAPTER 103: OUTBURST
At first, she always evaded Hugo Quinn’s approaches, but because the web this man wove was so extensive, unknowingly, her thoughts completely changed.
Now, she can calmly adapt to this man’s occasional affection.
She carried Marcus to the bed, seeing the child was about to wake up, she hurriedly patted him softly twice and then walked out of the room, gently closing the door.
The more Hugo Quinn looked, the more he felt this woman was Marcus’s real mother.
"We have work tomorrow, go to bed early."
She rubbed her temples and slowly walked towards her room.
Hugo Quinn smiled, placing a cup of hot milk in front of her, "Drink this, I find it quite effective. After drinking it, sleep is much sounder."
Eleanor Hollis took it and sipped it slowly twice, then placed the cup down.
"Thank you."
She continued to walk towards her room, suddenly feeling that her mood today seemed rather low, probably because of the things Old Master Quinn said.
After that conversation, she finally understood that the Old Master was no easy character.
Anxiously lying in bed, she also worried about her grandmother in the countryside, wondering if the Old Master would act despicably like those people, starting with her grandmother.
Her grandmother’s health was slowly recovering, she really couldn’t handle any disturbances.
She picked up her phone and immediately called the elderly woman.
"Luna."
Bridget Sutton was very happy, her voice carrying a hint of joy.
Knowing she was fine, Eleanor Hollis breathed a sigh of relief, chatted about other things, and finally gave a slow warning.
"Grandma, don’t go out alone recently. Didn’t Hugo Quinn send people there to watch over you? It’s best if you stay with them."
Her tone was very serious, causing a pang of worry in Bridget Sutton’s heart.
"Luna, has something happened? Did you offend someone? If Serenford cannot accommodate you, come back to the countryside, I feel it’s still quite good here."
Hearing her concern, Eleanor’s eyes quickly welled up with tears, "It’s nothing, Grandma. I’m just worried about you, just listen to me."
"Alright, alright, I will listen to you, come back during the New Year."
It’s still a long way till the New Year, Eleanor smiled, "I will come back."
After hanging up, her unease dissipated a bit. She washed up and fell asleep.
However, even in her dreams, she never thought that the target Old Master Quinn wanted to strike wasn’t her grandmother, but her friend, Gloria Galloway.
The Quinton Group holds a significant position in Serenford, and Gloria Galloway’s company happened to be collaborating with The Quinn Group.
Originally, with Gloria’s return after three years, company regulations dictated she should be promoted.
But the supervisor called her to the office for a careful persuasion, which was essentially just a sales-pitch, suggesting that she should continue working from the bottom.
Gloria’s face turned pale, and when she left the office, she could still hear the sarcasm around her, as if everyone was mocking her overestimating herself.
Back then, she fought with all her might for the opportunity abroad and worked diligently for three years, managing everything there meticulously.
She thought she would return triumphant, making those who looked down on her reassess her, but all those efforts were not worth a supervisor’s casual sentence.
"We still think you’re too young, young people are more restless, we’ll assign someone else to that position. Let those three years be your training, you have potential, so even starting from the bottom, you’ll soon be favored."
Ha, then what is her three years of hard work? Who will compensate for her three years of youth?
Gloria seldom cried, this was her first time sobbing uncontrollably in front of Samantha Sullivan.
Samantha felt frustrated and called Eleanor Hollis out.
Just yesterday, the two were teasing about Gloria’s promotion, only to hear this news the next moment.
"Damn it, those managers are complete bastards!!"
Samantha’s fiery temper was almost uncontrollable, wasn’t this clearly exploiting employees?
Three years, back then Gloria left her home, and in the end, she only received a casual verbal praise, not even considered as such.
"Come! Let’s go to the company and help you get justice!"
Samantha pulled Gloria towards the car, but Gloria only knew how to cry, crying so much that her makeup got messed up.
She was unwilling, really unwilling.
Eleanor stood to the side, suddenly feeling chilled to the bone, she had a strong intuition that maybe this matter was related to the Quinton Family.
That day, the Old Master had more or less threatened her openly and secretly, saying if she didn’t reconcile with Nathaniel, he would take other measures.
And those other measures meant retaliating against her friends.
Gloria’s sobs were still echoing in her ears, she felt like a sinner, too scared to tell the other what she knew.
Eleanor’s chest was filled with rage, all her feelings towards the Quinton Family gripped by a large hand, abruptly stopping.
"Eleanor, what are you daydreaming about, quickly come and help me comfort her."
Samantha was hot-tempered, worst at consoling people, and seeing Eleanor standing there like a block only intensified her headache.
Eleanor’s nails dug deep into her flesh, feeling it was laughable, pitiful.
Three years of hard work, those high and mighty people just needed a single sentence to destroy, is there no human rights!
"I have something to do, Samantha, please take care of this for a bit."
She took a cab and immediately headed to the hospital, her chest felt like it was about to explode, it was extremely uncomfortable.
Arriving at the ward door, she didn’t show the politeness from last time. She bit her tongue hard, then forcefully pushed the door open.
"Bang!"
Everyone in the ward looked over, great, they were all from the Quinton Family.
"Old Master Quinn, I want to know if what happened to Gloria was your doing?"
She wasn’t a pushover; if this person really thought strong-handed means could subdue her, he could try.
Old Master Quinn was listening to the butler’s report, and seeing Eleanor Hollis barging in so rudely, he was somewhat displeased.
"I warned you long ago, if you don’t reconcile with Nathaniel, I would adopt strong-handed measures."
So it was him.
Eleanor Hollis’s eyes slightly reddened, letting out a cold laugh, "Strong-handed measures? Are imposing your so-called authority to oppress a diligent and driven girl what you call them? Old Master Quinn, does having arbitrary control over others’ lives and deaths feel good?"
Elder Quinn didn’t expect the always obedient Eleanor Hollis to react so sharply, with every word laced with thorns.
"Eleanor Hollis!"
He growled lowly, his face full of anger, didn’t this person recognize the difference between the elder and junior?
Eleanor saw the flowers she had brought were still in the vase; she quickly walked over, tore them out, and tossed them into the trash can beside.
"I only respect those worthy of respect. If someone is not worthy of respect, there’s no need for it either! Old Master Quinn, aren’t you just afraid of me being with Hugo Quinn? Were you irritated by what Hugo and Marcus said last time? Did it upset you? Rest assured, however much pain my heart feels today, I will use Hugo Quinn to repay you a hundredfold. I must tell you, your younger son likes me so much, this time, I was still hesitating to agree, but today your actions have made me think it through. Since you want to deal with me, I will use the pillow-talk of your sons against you, while I sit back and watch the fun unfold. Old Master Quinn, farewell."
