The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad
Chapter 108: Classmates Reunited
CHAPTER 108: CHAPTER 108: CLASSMATES REUNITED
While passing by the supermarket, she went in to buy some groceries.
The cola chicken wings she made last time were quite good, Marcus seemed to really like them, so this time she bought a few more.
"Eleanor, it’s really you!"
A woman’s voice rang out, though it was unclear whether she was surprised or sarcastic.
Eleanor Hollis turned her head and found it was her high school classmate Sasha Morgan.
Sasha Morgan was dressed fashionably, her skin was snowy white, apparently she hasn’t skimped on maintenance over the years.
Eleanor remembered her skin wasn’t as white back then, and she was quite short. Who would’ve thought after so many years she’d turn out like this.
Now Sasha Morgan drew a lot of attention, with her exquisite makeup, covered head to toe in brand names.
Sasha Morgan took off her sunglasses and gave Eleanor Hollis a once-over, then slightly curled her lips.
"Eleanor, I heard you went to a good university back then. I wonder where are you working now? If you have time, we can get together more often."
Eleanor didn’t say anything, she didn’t see any need to meet up with this person, especially since their relationship in high school wasn’t good.
Sasha Morgan is now quite tall, about 172cm, four centimeters taller than Eleanor Hollis.
And with high heels, she has a more overbearing presence.
"But what I heard was, you dropped out of university because of pregnancy. It’s really shocking that the good girl in high school got pregnant in university and delayed her studies. Eleanor, you really surprised me."
Sasha’s tone was sarcastic, she circled Eleanor, noticing her clothes were all common brands, and laughed quietly.
"Nowadays, without a university degree, it’s hard to find a job. I think you’ve had it tough these years, haven’t you? People tend to make mistakes when they’re young. I wonder if the high school teacher saw you now, would they still want me to learn from you."
In high school, Eleanor Hollis had excellent grades, was well-behaved, and good-looking, the teacher’s top student.
Whereas Sasha Morgan was a bit of a rebel, and being desk mates with Eleanor inevitably led to comparisons.
"Sasha, you’ll be a social leech in the future, making money with your looks. If you don’t work hard, you won’t even be able to get into college. Look at Eleanor Hollis, she’s better looking and works harder than you."
This was what the teacher often said to her.
Sasha sarcastically put her sunglasses back on, "Who would’ve thought, we all thought you’d be the most successful among us."
Eleanor still didn’t respond because such verbal sparring is really boring.
She grabbed her things to leave, but Sasha reached out to stop her.
"Seeing me now, do you feel ashamed? Eleanor Hollis, there’s a high school reunion in a few days, I wonder if you dare to come."
Since graduating, Eleanor Hollis had never attended any reunions, so no one knew about her current situation.
Sasha didn’t expect to run into someone familiar here, especially someone she loathed.
"Let go!"
Eleanor’s tone was sharper, startling Sasha.
By the time Sasha reacted, Eleanor had already left.
Sasha snorted coldly, opened the high school group chat, and typed a message.
"Guess who I ran into at the supermarket?"
Now in high school, Sasha Morgan was the most successful; she owned a company and her boyfriend was rumored to be a rich second-generation.
So when she spoke, the group chat instantly became lively, with everyone asking who she met.
Sasha snorted coldly and began tarnishing Eleanor Hollis’s image.
"It’s Eleanor Hollis, didn’t she drop out of college? She looks quite pitiful now, wearing common brands, her skin isn’t great, completely different from the goddess she once was. I heard she dropped out due to pregnancy."
No one knew Eleanor dropped out of college, so Sasha’s revelation caused a stir in the group.
"Eleanor Hollis, the good girl, actually had an unplanned pregnancy?! And dropped out! Wow, that’s major news."
"She was well-behaved and obedient in high school, the teacher always praised her. Unexpected she did such a thing in college."
"Humph, maybe deep down she was like that all along. Who even knows if the man who got her pregnant is her husband now."
Everyone’s gossiping instincts were triggered, they started discussing Eleanor.
Sasha felt immense satisfaction seeing everyone speak ill of Eleanor.
Back in high school, she hated Eleanor Hollis and those who compared them.
She lived under Eleanor’s halo, humble and pitiful.
She hadn’t expected Eleanor to fall so low while her status skyrocketed.
If those teachers knew about their current gap, they might be furious.
But no matter what Sasha’s internal gripes were, Eleanor Hollis didn’t care about any of it. After buying groceries, she went straight home.
Hugo Quinn and Marcus were already back, it looked like they had just arrived.
Eleanor Hollis put down the groceries and started putting on her apron.
"Why are you back so late?"
Hugo Quinn, standing behind her, saw her tying the apron and quickly reached out to help her fasten it.
From Marcus’s angle, the two looked like they were hugging.
"I got delayed in the supermarket. Are you hungry? I’ll cook right away."
Hugo saw her face wasn’t looking great, wanting to ask if something had happened, but knowing this woman always kept things bottled up.
If she didn’t want to talk, asking wouldn’t help.
While Eleanor cooked, she was constantly distracted, thinking about Sasha Morgan mentioning the reunion.
She had never attended past reunions, but this time seemed different.
Because this reunion was organized by the teacher she most adored in high school, who reportedly has cancer and not much time left.
That teacher was very fond of her back then, she surely had to go for what might be the last reunion of a lifetime.
After dinner, she checked the high school group chat and found the messages were over ninety-nine plus.
Opening them, her gaze grew sharper before she sighed and set the phone aside.
She always knew Sasha had grievances; after all, at seventeen or eighteen, they couldn’t handle such ridicule.
She had carefully discussed pulling teachers aside, hoping they wouldn’t compare them, but the teachers never listened.
