CHAPTER 13: CHAPTER 13: UNDERHANDED TACTICS

"Mom, does Grandpa have a problem with us?"

Joelle said discontentedly, thinking it was because of Eleanor, and couldn’t swallow her anger.

Nathaniel sat aside, his face was also gloomy. Probably because Eleanor left with nothing, the old man felt he was too ruthless, so he didn’t want to see them anymore.

"I’ve really underestimated Eleanor. She’s advancing by retreating, and the old man probably feels sorry for her now. Joelle, don’t cause her any more trouble recently. Your brother is already divorced; she has nothing to do with us."

Beatrice said slowly, feeling suffocated thinking that she was thwarted by a little girl.

"Is the five million just going to be so cheap for her?! That bitch doesn’t deserve it! No way, I want to get the money back! Grandpa has never given me that much!"

Joelle shouted angrily, her eyes red. Since she was young, she wanted to show off in front of Grandpa, but his attitude was always lukewarm, and the gifts during festivals were just token gestures. Why could Eleanor pry five million from Grandpa’s hands?!

"Brother, don’t you think Grandpa is slapping you in the face? You made Eleanor leave with nothing, but he gave her five million! Doesn’t that mean he thinks you were too harsh?"

Joelle’s mind was quick to turn now, and she soon figured out the intricacies.

Nathaniel’s face darkened even more. He hated Eleanor and didn’t want to give her a penny, but he forgot Grandpa had special feelings for Eleanor. Knowing she left with nothing, he was certainly feeling sorry for her.

"The divorce is done, there’s no need to say anything more."

Next, he just had to wait for Grace to get divorced, then he could be with her openly.

Thinking of Grace, his face softened, and his heart felt slightly sweet.

"I won’t let that bitch get away with it! Hmph, if you don’t make a move, I naturally have ways to deal with her!"

Joelle couldn’t swallow this anger; no matter what, Eleanor had to be taught a lesson.

Beatrice casually rubbed her head, a hint of smile in her eyes, "She’s just a girl from the countryside, who suddenly got a five-million windfall. Do you think her country relatives will let her go if they find out?"

She had heard about those relatives. Each one was looking to take advantage. When Eleanor married into their family, those relatives even came asking for money, but were chased off by Quinton Family’s bodyguards.

Joelle’s eyes lit up. That’s right, if those poor relatives knew Eleanor was carrying a fortune, they would probably come asking for money in no time, wouldn’t they?

Eleanor didn’t know that several people already had such vicious ideas. She left Quinton Manor and realized it was already late, wanting to find a place to stay for herself first.

She took out her phone, looked through her contacts, and finally dialed Samantha.

She only had two friends. After all, she married too early, and due to depression related to the child in the first two years, she had long drifted away from her original circle, now only having two friends left.

"Samantha, I’m divorced and have nowhere to go. Can I crash at your place tonight?"

Samantha’s face was covered with a mask, feeling Eleanor’s tired tone, didn’t ask anything else, she quickly said, "I’ll come pick you up, where are you?"

"No need, I’ll take a cab myself, I know your address."

Eleanor rubbed her sore eyes, she hadn’t had a good night’s sleep for many days.

Twenty minutes later, she stopped in front of Samantha’s door, looking exhausted.

"Divorce is a good thing! I’ve long despised that scumbag Nathaniel. Getting involved with his own aunt, only you are generous enough to not expose those bastards and make them lose face!"
