CHAPTER 14: CHAPTER 14: CELEBRATING YOUR SINGLENESS

Samantha Sullivan helped Eleanor Hollis inside, noticing that she was trembling all over and her clothes were wet, quickly pushing her into the bathroom.

"Go take a hot shower. I’ll go down and buy some bottles of beer, let’s celebrate your return to singlehood!"

Eleanor Hollis tugged at her lips with a smile, understanding that her friend was genuinely happy for her. She had finally escaped that cage known as the Quinton Family.

While showering, she lowered her head and saw the stretch marks on her belly, recalling that child, her eyes reddened again.

Pregnant for ten months, right before delivery she could feel the baby healthily kicking inside her, how could it suddenly be gone?

With this damaged body of hers, she estimated that truly no man would want her.

"Eleanor, I’ve bought beer and barbecue, hurry out."

Samantha called out from outside, placing things on the table.

Eleanor Hollis wore the clothes prepared for her, wiping her hair as she sat on the carpet, quietly taking a sip of beer, her whole demeanor lifeless.

"Samantha, do you really think no man will want me?"

After a few sips, she said with reddened eyes, finding the beer in her mouth somewhat bitter.

"Nonsense! You’re so beautiful, plenty of men will like you, don’t doubt yourself because of that scumbag!"

Eleanor Hollis was indeed very beautiful, with a delicate oval face and slightly matured yet exquisite features that were still charming.

Probably due to the lack of sleep these days, there were dark circles around her eyes, and her cheeks were noticeably sunken, leaving her looking worn out.

"Take a good rest for a few days, don’t think about anything else."

Samantha brought out two cold pills, poured a glass of water, and placed it in front of her, "Take these, you were caught in the rain tonight, better to be safe."

Eleanor Hollis was indeed very tired, after eating, brushing her teeth, she lay down on the bed.

She slept for two whole days and upon waking up, saw missed calls from the hospital on her phone, quickly dialing back.

"Miss Hollis, you’d better come quickly, your uncle and others caused a ruckus at the hospital early this morning, and they even said they want to take your grandmother to the countryside. The elderly can only survive with the dialysis tube, and moving her out of the ward could be life-threatening."

Eleanor Hollis’s eyes were full of anger. All these years of her grandmother’s illness, the family had never inquired even once. Her uncle and aunts had been shirking responsibilities, refusing to contribute a single cent, and now they had the audacity to create trouble at the hospital!

She quickly got washed up, skipping breakfast, and headed to the hospital.

"That’s my mom! What’s wrong with wanting to take her back?! Do you doctors have any right to interfere! Get out of my way!"

"Exactly, we’re the patient’s family, wanting to take her to the countryside to enjoy her old age, you doctors have no right to stop us."

As soon as Eleanor Hollis arrived at the hospital, she heard the voices of her uncle and aunts coming from inside, feeling a surge of anger, she quickly pushed through the crowd and squeezed inside.

Stella Lynch and Liam Lynch immediately spotted Eleanor Hollis, their eyes lit up, "Eleanor, you’re here, how come you’ve gotten thinner?"

Eleanor Hollis pushed past them, seeing that her grandmother was still inside, she let out a slight sigh of relief, her face full of disgust, "Why are you here?"

Stella Lynch and Liam Lynch exchanged a glance, they already knew that she had gotten hold of five million.

That was five million, something they could never earn in a lifetime.

"Eleanor, what kind of talk is that, lying there is our mother, isn’t it natural for us to be at the hospital?"
