The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad
Chapter 326: You and Mommy Should Go Get Your Marriage Certificate
CHAPTER 326: CHAPTER 326: YOU AND MOMMY SHOULD GO GET YOUR MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE
"Alright, Dad, you said it yourself. If I get first place, you and Mommy will go register your marriage."
Marcus’s words left both of them stunned.
Hugo subconsciously glanced at Eleanor Hollis, wanting to know her reaction.
Eleanor blushed. How could Marcus, at such a young age, know so much? Would Hugo think that she taught the child to say this? It was really troubling.
Her face got redder and she didn’t even know how to respond to Marcus.
But Hugo put down the handkerchief in his hand and looked at him very seriously.
"If your mommy agrees, I have no problem with it."
The topic was thrown to Eleanor Hollis, and she found herself flustered under the gaze of the two, one big and one small.
Actually, she had thought before about getting the marriage certificate with Hugo. Anyway, they certainly couldn’t hold a wedding right now; otherwise, who knows what kind of crazy actions the old man of the Quinton Family might take. Although Hugo had already cut ties with the Quinton Family, if the old man really wanted to interfere, he would find a way.
"I..."
She uttered that one word but didn’t know what else to say, slowly lowering her head.
"You don’t want to?"
Hugo’s eyebrows knitted together, his heart pricked by a needle. Could it be that she had never considered getting the certificate?
The wedding will be made up later; he would definitely give her a grand wedding.
"It’s not that, I just..."
Eleanor hadn’t finished speaking before she saw Hugo stand up.
"Since you’re willing, let’s go register tomorrow. It’s for Marcus’s sake too."
Eleanor was taken aback. How did this involve Marcus?
As she was thinking, she felt a small hand grab hers. Marcus looked at her with a smile.
"If Mommy and Dad register tomorrow, then I promise I’ll get first place in all future exams."
Eleanor was just about to respond when a big hand wrapped around her waist.
"As adults, we have to make little sacrifices for the child. We’ll make up the wedding to you later."
Eleanor was led into the house by him, and under his sweet-talking, she soon disclosed where the household registration book was kept.
The next morning, she was woken up by Hugo.
Hugo held both their household registration books in his hand and specially had a stylist come over to do their hair and makeup. For someone who never cared much about appearance, he unprecedentedly stood in front of the mirror choosing a tie.
Previously, everything about his outfit was left to the professionals; he never cared. But this time was different. He had already been standing in front of the mirror for half an hour.
"Isn’t the color of this tie a bit too dark?"
He frowned and asked the stylist beside him, taking off the tie from his neck.
The stylist knew the president probably had something very important today. Previously, whatever he chose for this man, the other party would wear without saying a word.
"I think it looks fine, President. If you prefer something else, you can tell me."
He said respectfully, opening the special place for ties, revealing over a hundred ties at once.
Hugo picked through them, selecting a few, then compared them one by one.
"This one, it’s slightly better."
He finally chose a dark grey tie, and a hint of a smile unexpectedly appeared on his usually unsmiling face.
"Can my hairstyle be adjusted?"
His hair seemed a bit messy, and today they would be taking wedding photos.
The stylist was taken aback and quickly called someone to prepare his hair.
Everything was ready, and Hugo was finally satisfied. He then entered the adjacent room to see how Eleanor was doing with her preparations.
Eleanor had been very nervous and only relaxed her tightly gripped hands when she saw him come in.
Are they really going to register?
"Miss Hollis, you have a very petite face. Today, let’s skip the bun. I’ll give you some curls and tie a few strands, so it matches better with the president’s look today."
The woman doing her hair said with a light smile, quickly starting her work.
Hugo was very satisfied with her perceptiveness.
Once they were both ready, he pointed to the woman and said.
"Give her a raise, Lan Yancy, note it down."
Lan Yancy, standing to the side, twitched his mouth but understood the president was happy, so he quickly nodded.
The woman was overwhelmed with surprise and said a few words of congratulations.
A woman’s intuition is always more sensitive than a man’s. While others doing the styling had no idea what the two were planning, the woman, noticing Miss Hollis’s behavior, guessed that today Miss Hollis and the president were likely to register their marriage.
But she was a competent employee and would keep this secret to herself.
Before long, Hugo and Eleanor arrived at the civil affairs bureau.
When they got out of the car, Eleanor was somewhat dazed, standing at the entrance, not daring to go in.
A hand suddenly rested on her waist, and Hugo, embracing her, curved his lips into a smile.
"Let’s go."
Eleanor’s heart, which had been hanging in the air, finally calmed down.
The staff at the civil affairs bureau were wide-eyed with shock to see Hugo coming over. Was President Quinn really here to register his marriage?
When taking the marriage registration photo, the photographer’s hands were trembling.
"Lean your heads closer, and smile, yes, open up your smiles a bit more."
Smiling at strangers made Hugo a bit uncomfortable, but being happy today, whatever the photographer said, he cooperated fully.
Their heads slightly touched, eyes filled with laughter, and this moment was captured forever.
When they got their marriage certificate, they walked on air.
It wasn’t until they felt the sunlight outside that Hugo slowly squinted and gingerly placed the marriage certificate into his suit pocket like it was a treasure.
"Mrs. Quinn, let’s go home."
He took Eleanor’s hand and got into the waiting car outside.
Eleanor was still in a daze, feeling like everything from the morning was just a dream.
She and Hugo really got their marriage certificate...
Incredible.
The car stopped in front of the villa, but Hugo didn’t get out. Instead, he carefully instructed her.
"I have to go to the office for a bit. You have your lunch at home first, and I’ll be back later."
Eleanor nodded absentmindedly, and it wasn’t until the car slowly disappeared that she stiffly left from there.
Hugo took out the marriage certificate from his pocket, gazed at it carefully, again and again.
When he got to the office, he uncharacteristically didn’t take the private elevator but stood in front of the employee elevator.
Coincidentally, some executives walked in from outside, greeted him nervously.
Everyone at the company knew that the president had skipped work today. No one knew where he’d been.
"Have you had lunch yet?"
Hugo asked upon entering the elevator, seeing the seven or eight executives standing around him.
It was the first time the president showed concern for them and initiated a conversation. Everyone felt like they were experiencing auditory hallucinations.
"We’ve eaten, President, what about you?"
They replied stiffly, thinking the president must be in a great mood today.
"Hmm."
Hugo replied flatly and then absentmindedly reached into his pocket, dropping the marriage certificate just like that.
