The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad
Chapter 33: Summoned by the Quinton Family
CHAPTER 33: CHAPTER 33: SUMMONED BY THE QUINTON FAMILY
However, she didn’t expect that before she could execute her plan, the news on the internet almost made her collapse.
Photos of her and Nathaniel Quinn dating circulated and quickly took over major media outlets.
At this moment, everyone was discussing her, the wife of the Grandeur Group’s president, saying she was an indiscreet woman.
"Where’s Hugo?"
She hurriedly went to Grandeur Group, wanting to explain herself to him.
Lan Yancy saw her rush in, knowing her purpose, but this time, the president seemed determined to make a big fuss.
If the president’s wife had always remained content and not sought other things, maybe she could have held onto her position until old age.
But women, they’re just so unsatisfied, even with a husband like the president, longing for him to treat her like a princess.
"The president is in the office."
He said blandly, turned and left.
Grace Lynch’s face was pale, feeling the whispers on the top floor office and fingers pointing at her. It seemed everyone had seen the trending topics from that morning.
She composed her emotions before knocking and entering the office.
"Hugo."
She called softly, twisting her hands in front of her, looking utterly wronged.
"The online things aren’t true. I met with Nathaniel only because..."
She hesitated a bit here but eventually spoke slowly.
"Nathaniel has had a crush on me for many years. When I was abroad, he kept sending me messages. I feared this would be discovered by the Quinton Family, so I met him alone, hoping he would think clearly and treat Eleanor well. He always has thoughts of divorce, but I don’t allow or want Eleanor to suffer any harm because of me."
She spoke grandly of herself but forgot Hugo Quinn already had all the information.
In that photo, the two were so close, how could it possibly just be a normal relationship?
His mouth curled mockingly, looking mildly up, "Grace, I know what kind of woman you are."
He flipped open a nearby notebook, spoke with indifference, but every word struck Grace Lynch hard.
"You feel I’m not gentle enough, didn’t pamper you like other men do, while Nathaniel is willing to go to any lengths for just one of your smiles. You’re not reconciled, surely often thinking it would be great if Nathaniel were the president of Grandeur Group, rich, passionate, gentle. Then you’d promptly divorce and marry him."
His words were true; at least, Grace Lynch genuinely thought this way.
The last trace of color left her face, leaving it ashen.
"Hugo, it’s not like this. I met him really just to make him give up."
"If there’s anything, go say it in front of Grandpa."
Hugo Quinn was somewhat impatient, unwilling to bother with women’s little schemes, but Grace Lynch’s matters had already involved him.
Grace Lynch stiffened; Old Master Quinn disliked fickle women the most.
Her news was already out, likely by tonight she’d be asked to go to the manor.
After leaving the building, Grace Lynch felt weak all over, hurriedly called Nathaniel Quinn, hoping this man could keep mum, not admit the online matters.
Or tell reporters it was just photoshopped, that they were entirely pure.
But as soon as the call connected, she heard Nathaniel Quinn’s voice.
"Grace, have you seen the news online? You could take this opportunity to divorce and be with me."
He spoke confidently, seemingly naively believing Grace Lynch truly loved him.
Grace Lynch gripped the phone tighter, struggling to speak, "Nathaniel, I thought you truly loved me, didn’t realize you only love yourself."
Nathaniel Quinn was baffled, what foolish thing was she saying, he had always loved her.
"Grace, aren’t you unhappy? Haven’t you always been considering divorce from your uncle? This is indeed a great chance, or do you mean you never thought about being with me?"
Grace Lynch pressed her lips together; she had truly never thought about being with this man, she merely enjoyed his passion, proving her own allure.
"Nathaniel, if I really took this chance to be with you, in others’ eyes, I’d be the one committing infidelity in marriage, don’t you consider me at all? Don’t you know Old Master dislikes women like this the most, please don’t push me? We absolutely can’t admit the online matters, or I’ll die."
She spoke resolutely, shocking Nathaniel Quinn too, knowing her fierce nature, he quickly comforted her.
"Grace, I’ll wait for you, we won’t admit it then, I don’t lack that little time."
Grace Lynch finally breathed a sigh of relief, just hung up when she noticed a call from Quinton Manor.
Sure enough, they asked her to go to the manor; she gritted her teeth, what must come will inevitably come, with Marcus in this situation, surely they wouldn’t do anything to her!
The evening at Quinton Manor was indeed lively, almost everyone was present, the atmosphere in the living room was oppressive.
Old Master Quinn sat on the sofa with a gloomy face, in front of him knelt Nathaniel Quinn and Grace Lynch.
"You’d better explain clearly, what those photos are all about, Nathaniel, do you like Grace?"
Beside, Beatrice Sullivan desperately signaled to Nathaniel Quinn, hoping he wouldn’t anger Old Master further at this moment.
But Nathaniel’s fondness for Grace was something he insisted on for years, how could he deny it.
"I love her very much, Grandpa, it’s all my fault."
Beatrice Sullivan only felt a darkness before her eyes, her son was truly absurd, saying such words undeniably brought shame to the Quinton Family; Grace was his uncle’s wife!!
"Absurd!!"
Old Master was indeed angry, his cane thumped heavily on the ground.
"Grace, what about you?"
Grace Lynch’s face was pale, as if about to faint.
But Old Master didn’t buy it, glancing at the doctor next to him, spoke steadily, "Prepare those medicines, don’t let her faint, lest I can’t ask anything."
Grace Lynch was indeed planning to feign fainting, hearing Old Master’s words, she instantly regained her spirits, a hint of grit in her voice.
"Grandpa Quinn, I know Nathaniel likes me, but we’ve never crossed boundaries, I truly don’t know how those online photos came about."
She said with grievance, her eyes already reddened.
Old Master Quinn frowned, Grace being part of the Quinton Family, about her news, major media would weigh carefully before publishing.
But this time, so many media outlets published simultaneously, quickly dominating major headlines, evidently with an intent to blow up the matter.
If it weren’t for someone’s directive behind, he couldn’t think of anything else.
