CHAPTER 337: CHAPTER 337: THE LUNCH CONTAINER BELONGS TO MEREDITH STERLING

"Miss Hollis, Meredith would never harm the CEO. She likes him so much, why would she hurt him? Stop spreading alarm here."

Eleanor Hollis raised her eyebrows, finally admitting that the food container was indeed from Meredith Sterling!

Thinking about her husband eating the food that woman made, she felt a pang of discomfort.

"Assistant Hale, please submit your resignation letter. You are too easily swayed by others and are soft-hearted, especially towards pretty women—you simply can’t move your legs. Someone like you staying by President Quinn’s side is a disaster."

This rare show of Eleanor Hollis’s assertiveness made others nervous, both in her tone and expression.

Assistant Hale’s face turned pale instantly. He never expected Eleanor Hollis to be so relentless over this matter, asking for his resignation.

He had only been in this position for a short time. Why should he leave because of her words?

"Miss Hollis, I believe my judgment of people isn’t wrong. I really can’t figure out why the President chose you. You haven’t made any significant contributions at work. You’re just relying on the President’s affection. You’re just a woman climbing up using the President as your stepping stone."

Eleanor had to admire his social intelligence, to still manage to insult her at this moment.

She glanced at Hugo Quinn and noticed his face had also darkened, realizing that this person’s career was indeed over. Low emotional intelligence and easily influenced by pretty women, staying would indeed be hazardous.

"Assistant Hale, so what contribution has your so-called Meredith made to this company? What you like is her flattering and wooing. You don’t believe me, yet you believe her one-sided words, just because she sobbed in front of you a few times? And now you’re discussing contributions to the company with me? Double standards?"

Assistant Hale’s face turned even paler, not expecting his words to be seized upon. He glanced at Hugo Quinn, realizing Hugo was allowing Eleanor Hollis to make such a scene, and felt his legs go weak.

"President, it’s not like that."

He wanted to explain, but Hugo Quinn didn’t give him the chance.

"Within half an hour, I expect to see your resignation."

Not even lifting his head, he said this and then wrapped his arm around Eleanor Hollis’s waist.

"And, Eleanor and I are already legally married. She is my wife in name, and I have enough money to support her for several lifetimes. Even if she does nothing, I’m happy. Just seeing her makes me happy. She didn’t come to the company to work but just to be with me, understand?"

When Eleanor Hollis heard Hugo Quinn’s words, she looked down and gave him a sweet smile.

A rare blush appeared on Hugo’s usually stern face, and he smiled back.

Assistant Hale left in a daze, still not feeling he was wrong. Meredith was genuinely pitiful; why was it wrong to help a pitiful woman?

It was all because of Eleanor Hollis. She could only charm the President, turning him into someone who couldn’t distinguish right from wrong.

In the office.

Eleanor Hollis threw the food container into the trash can, feeling a little sour inside.

"Feeling so jealous?"

Hugo Quinn held her, seeing her pouting face; he couldn’t help but pinch her cheek.

"Did you know this was made by Meredith Sterling already? I saw you eating it with delight. If I hadn’t bumped into it today, were you planning to keep eating it?"

Hugo quickly raised one hand, making a swearing gesture.

"I swear, I absolutely didn’t know. Eleanor, I’m very busy, with no time to worry about such little things."

Eleanor’s heart eased. All of Hugo Quinn’s matters were handled by others; he really didn’t have the mind to notice how today’s lunchbox was different. Even when eating, his eyes were only on work, always staring at the computer.

"I believe you."

She tugged at his hair, finding his hair quality surprisingly nice.

"But just now, your justifiable defense was really handsome. Knowing you did it for me, it feels sweet here."

Hugo pointed to where his heart was, unusually flirty.

This time, it was Eleanor’s turn to blush; this person was always like this, suddenly dropping sweet-talk unexpectedly.

"I’ll head out first and not disturb your work."

Hugo nodded, knowing she was shy, feeling even warmer inside.

After work in the evening, the two went to the mall together.

Eleanor Hollis saw yarn being sold for knitting scarves and suddenly got interested.

Winter was coming; knitting a scarf for Marcus seemed nice.

She stood there, carefully selecting, and finally picked a grey one.

Hugo saw she only took one skein, unsure who it was for, so he probed.

"This skein is too small to knit a long one. Be careful not to strangle your neck."

Eleanor didn’t even notice it was a trap, "Marcus’s neck is so small; it doesn’t need much."

She casually picked up a simple cartoon patch nearby, intending to attach it to the scarf later.

"Marcus will have his wife to knit for him in the future. You don’t need to worry so much. Look at me, I don’t have a scarf yet."

Hugo touched his neck, pretending to mention it casually.

Eleanor looked at him in surprise, not able to imagine Hugo wearing such a scarf, after all, he was a business elite, always in suits, seemingly not needing such things.

"When you’re out shopping with me, that’s when it comes in handy. You can’t be so partial."

Eleanor couldn’t help but laugh, and under his insistence, bought a white skein of yarn.

She remembered Hugo had a few black coats, and pairing them with this scarf shouldn’t be too ugly.

However, she only knew simple knitting methods and feared embarrassing herself.

So after going home, she searched through many videos online, hoping to find a slightly nicer knitting method that would satisfy both father and son.

Yet because of her thoroughness, three whole days passed, and Hugo still hadn’t seen even a shadow of the scarf.

He was anxious, of course. Anxious because when dining with Julian Sterling and the others, he had already bragged that Eleanor would knit him a scarf.

The guys looked on with expressions of envy and jealousy, making him feel great.

But after a few days passed, Eleanor still hadn’t even started. He was almost tempted to help her knit, just to avoid being teased by his friends.

Eleanor was entirely unaware of this. After figuring out the knitting method online and experimenting several times, she finally settled on a pattern.

However, during her scarf knitting, Hugo kept consciously or unconsciously urging her to speed up, when usually he was the most considerate of her, wishing she would do nothing all day but stay healthy and happy.

Yet as soon as Hugo returned home, his first question was always:

"Eleanor Hollis, where’s the scarf? Is it done yet?"

"Almost done. Why are you so eager?"

Eleanor couldn’t help but roll her eyes. It’s been days, asking the same question every time he came home. Isn’t he tired?
