The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad
Chapter 360: Eleanor, You’re So Cruel
CHAPTER 360: CHAPTER 360: ELEANOR, YOU’RE SO CRUEL
They had just put down the scalpel when they heard someone kicking the door outside.
With a "boom," the door was swiftly kicked open. Hugo Quinn’s eyes were bloodshot, and when he saw Eleanor Hollis had already fainted, his pupils constricted fiercely.
"Where’s the child?"
The doctors still didn’t know what was happening when their collars were grabbed.
"I’m asking you! Where’s my child?!"
"Mr. Quinn, please don’t be so agitated. The procedure was carried out with Miss Hollis’s consent. The child is gone now, so please take good care of her."
Hugo Quinn’s hands went limp, entirely devoid of strength, and he saw large patches of blood on the operating table.
Perhaps his child had also turned into a pool of blood, vanished.
He stood there foolishly, laughed twice, and his gaze at Eleanor Hollis suddenly filled with coldness.
The doctors wheeled Eleanor Hollis into the ward, gave a few instructions, and then left.
Both Hugo Quinn and Samantha Sullivan stood there, neither speaking.
Samantha really hadn’t expected that Eleanor Hollis would remove the child on her own, and almost lose her life due to improper medication.
Didn’t she love Hugo Quinn dearly? Why wouldn’t she want to have his child?
"Ding."
Eleanor Hollis’s phone chimed; it was a text notification.
Samantha opened it and was startled, immediately wanting to delete the message, but Hugo Quinn had already snatched the phone.
He took the phone from her; it was a message from Xavier Crawford.
—— Don’t you really like Hugo Quinn? Why did you decide to terminate the pregnancy? What are your plans after this? If you regret marrying him, my doors are always open for you.
Hugo Quinn looked at the text indifferently, feeling a pang in his heart, then threw the phone out the window.
So even Xavier Crawford knew about Eleanor Hollis’s decision to abort the child, yet as the child’s father, he was the last to find out. How ironic.
He stood up, just about to leave when Eleanor Hollis awoke.
"Eleanor!"
Samantha helped her sit up with concern, her face full of heartache.
"How do you feel? Do you feel any better?"
Seeing that message, her heart skipped a beat, unsure of Hugo Quinn’s thoughts. Now that Eleanor is awake, it’s better for the couple to settle things themselves.
Eleanor Hollis rubbed her head, looking at the ward in surprise, realizing she was still in Serenford; she thought she would wake up abroad.
Hugo Quinn had his back to her, his eyes red, and suddenly turned around.
"Why?"
He asked blandly, why didn’t she want to have the child, to use such a cruel method to forcibly remove the child.
Eleanor Hollis was confused, suddenly not understanding what he meant.
"Eleanor, your child is gone."
Samantha whispered in Eleanor’s ear, somewhat afraid of the current Hugo Quinn.
Eleanor Hollis’s whole body stiffened, but thinking of something, she slowly smiled.
"I was never pregnant, Hugo Quinn, you’ve been deceived."
Hugo Quinn’s face was full of ridicule, what a claim to not be pregnant, with the doctor’s examination results so clear, and he had seen the blood beside the operating table, yet she still wanted to deceive him, saying she wasn’t pregnant. Did she take him for a fool?
"Eleanor Hollis!!"
He shouted, his chest heaving violently, wanting to twist her neck off right then and there.
If she really didn’t want to have his child, why pretend so much?
"If you really didn’t want to, you could have told me. My child was gone, and I was the last to know, Eleanor Hollis, you’re truly cruel."
After he said it, he turned to leave.
Only then did Eleanor Hollis realize that the situation was serious, she wanted to get out of bed, but her whole body was weak, and she felt extremely uncomfortable.
"Eleanor, your child is really gone."
Samantha’s voice was very low, hoping she could explain it properly to Hugo Quinn.
"Hugo Quinn, I really wasn’t pregnant, all of this was..."
It was the old man’s scheme, but she couldn’t say it, because the earrings she wore were wiretaps. Every word she said to Hugo Quinn would be heard clearly by the old man.
"What was it all?"
Hugo Quinn asked coldly, wanting an explanation for why she removed the child.
But Eleanor Hollis fell silent, unable to say a word.
This was the old man’s goal, making Hugo Quinn’s misunderstanding of her deepen and making him hate her more.
She suddenly felt a bit helpless, her eyes turning red.
Without any answer from her, the mockery on Hugo Quinn’s face deepened, indeed, he’d been deluding himself all along.
"Let’s get divorced. I’m sure this is what you’ve been waiting for all along, Eleanor Hollis. Ever since you set out to kill our child, I no longer had any love for you."
Eleanor Hollis lay rigidly on the bed; she had never thought of divorcing Hugo Quinn, thinking that no matter what she did, he wouldn’t propose a divorce.
Something inside her collapsed instantly, she felt like she was standing on the edge of a bottomless abyss, tumbling into a boundless hell.
"Husband..."
She slowly called out, only to hear Hugo Quinn’s sarcasm.
"Haven’t you already planned your way out? Eleanor Hollis, I’m sure you’ve been waiting for this day for a long time. It must have been truly unfair for you to be with me for so long; maybe Xavier Crawford is indeed more suitable for you."
After he finished, he slammed the hospital door shut with a "bang," ignoring her as he marched away.
"Hugo Quinn!!"
Eleanor Hollis cried out, heart-wrenching behind him, falling from the bed, struggling to reach out to him, but her body’s weakness made her unable to move an inch.
"Eleanor..."
Samantha’s eyes instantly reddened, choking back her tears as she helped her up from the floor.
"Eleanor, you were actually pregnant, and now the child is gone. Your mother asked me to return your bag and said she never wants to see you again in this life. I really don’t know what happened in between; you have to stay strong."
Eleanor Hollis’s entire body stiffened, suddenly remembering Rachel Lynch’s words before she fell unconscious.
A resentment surged in her heart, so deep her fingernails dug into her palms.
She took Samantha’s phone and dialed Rachel Lynch, her face already wet with tears.
The call connected, and Rachel Lynch’s first words were "I’m sorry, Eleanor, I didn’t know you were really pregnant."
Eleanor Hollis felt a lightning bolt in her mind, her entire body stiff. Was she really pregnant? What happened to the child? What happened to the child?
"What did you do to me?"
For the first time, she realized a person could feel such despair.
"I thought that pack of medicine would only knock you out, I didn’t know it was an abortion drug. Eleanor, I’m sorry, I couldn’t tell Hugo Quinn the truth either — my child is still being threatened."
Eleanor Hollis laughed, "Hahaha," crying incessantly.
So her child was poisoned to death by Rachel Lynch’s own hand?
