The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad
Chapter 6: Do You Know That Woman?
CHAPTER 6: CHAPTER 6: DO YOU KNOW THAT WOMAN?
Hugo Quinn’s face remained indifferent, he glanced at the driver briefly, "Why did he get out of the car?"
Everyone in the Quinton Family knew that because of Marcus’s autism, he had been cherished since childhood; even if he sneezed slightly, Mr. Quinn would invite a specialized doctor to accompany him for a long time.
"Sir, I’m not sure either, but Marcus’s attitude towards that woman was very strange; he actively hugged her and when the woman was leaving, he even offered her an umbrella."
He had forgotten the last time he heard Marcus speak, so he was indeed quite surprised just now.
"You said Marcus spoke?"
Hugo Quinn, who was always composed, suddenly stiffened; he had tried every way over the past few years to get Marcus to say something to him, but the child had always been silent. Now, there was someone who could make him speak.
"Do you know who that woman is?"
The driver shook his head, "I saw her walking in the rain, her face was swollen, and she seemed dazed overall. She must have encountered some misfortune, and the place she was heading to was the central hospital."
There was a hint of complexity in Hugo Quinn’s eyes as he held Marcus in his arms, unsure whether Marcus’s spoken words were accidental or not.
He lowered his head to look at this child, discovering Marcus had his eyes downcast and remained silent, quietly nestled in his embrace, as quiet as a porcelain doll, his heart softened, "I’ll carry him to sleep."
"Ma...mi."
Suddenly, Marcus tightened his grip on Hugo Quinn’s arm and softly said.
The driver’s face showed a burst of joy, "Mr. Quinn! Did you hear that? Marcus spoke again, is he missing Miss Lynch? But Miss Lynch has already gone to the old mansion for dinner, should I call her back immediately?"
There was a sharpness in Hugo Quinn’s eyes, full of indifference, as he looked down complexly at this child, is it really because of Grace Lynch?
Although Marcus was born by Grace, over these years he has not been close to her at all, "Call her back then."
In the end, he still compromised, reaching out to touch the child’s head.
The driver hurriedly called after hearing his instruction.
Meanwhile, Eleanor Hollis, who had just gotten off the car, was already at the hospital, rushing towards her grandmother’s ward, but someone else had already occupied the room.
Her heart trembled, and she quickly grabbed a nurse in the corridor.
"Where is the elderly person who was here before?"
The nurse was startled by Eleanor Hollis’s appearance; anyone unaware would think she was a water ghost climbing out of a river.
"The family couldn’t pay, so she’s been moved to the corridor."
Indeed, the hospital had this rule: once unable to pay for hospital stay for a long time, they’d move the bed to the corridor.
The corridor was breezy, detrimental to the patient’s recovery, but after all, hospitals weren’t charitable organizations, hence it was an unavoidable act.
Eleanor Hollis finally located her grandmother among a row of sickbeds, hastily approached her, but dared not get too close as her own clothes were still dripping wet.
Her grandmother had uremia, worsening over the last two years. All her savings had been spent on dialysis, and now there was simply no money left to pay for hospitalization, which was why she thought of such a plan tonight.
But unfortunately, Nathaniel Quinn was stone-hearted, unwilling to spare even a penny, while Joelle Quinn intentionally broke the life-saving bracelet.
Eleanor Hollis clenched her fists, eyes filled with resentment, her mouth tasting of blood.
"Are you Miss Hollis? The chief doctor is looking for you."
She was sitting in the corridor when she heard the nurse say this, quickly collected her emotions, and went to the chief doctor’s room.
