The Long Road to Love: The Capable CEO Dad
Chapter 96: A World for Two
CHAPTER 96: CHAPTER 96: A WORLD FOR TWO
"I feel at ease knowing Marcus is in Lan Yancy’s care."
Eleanor Hollis had no choice but to follow him to buy popcorn. She discovered that Hugo Quinn actually brought her to watch "Titanic."
"Do you want some ice cream?"
Hugo noticed the ice cream here looked good, and seeing several girls with ice cream in their hands, he got one for Eleanor before she could even respond.
Holding the popcorn in her arms and an ice cream in her hand, Eleanor watched Hugo as he stood among a group of people to pay, her lips curling into a smile.
She had always thought Hugo Quinn to be lofty and untouchable like a deity, but after interacting with him, she realized he too had his moments of descending into mortal life.
The movie would start in ten minutes. Hugo found the screening hall and led Eleanor inside, picking up 3D glasses for both of them at the entrance.
Their seats were in the middle, offering the best view for watching the movie.
After Eleanor sat down, she noticed the lights in the hall dimmed suddenly, signaling the start of the movie.
Funny enough, it was her first time watching a film. Back in the countryside where she lived, there weren’t any cinemas.
After she left the countryside and attended university for a while, she got pregnant and quickly married Nathaniel Quinn, leaving her with even less opportunity to see a movie.
So this was her first time at a cinema.
The 3D effect was remarkable, and the scenes were grand. She finished her ice cream, held onto her popcorn, and watched the screen intently.
Suddenly, she felt a warmth on her hand as a big hand grasped hers.
It was Hugo’s hand, and his presence enveloped her instantly.
Eleanor tensed up initially, then gradually relaxed. There was no one here she knew, so she allowed herself this one indulgence.
She didn’t shake off his hand, and her face slowly grew warm.
"Crunch."
Hugo picked a piece of popcorn, chewed it twice, and perhaps due to his good mood, felt that today’s popcorn was excessively sweet.
Only then did Eleanor remember she still had popcorn. With one hand held by Hugo and the other holding the popcorn bucket, she couldn’t eat and could only swallow her saliva.
A beautiful, slender hand suddenly appeared in front of her face. She followed the hand and saw Hugo’s handsome face.
"Eat up."
Hugo’s eyes shimmered with an intense light, making Eleanor feel a bit uneasy.
"I’ll eat myself."
She tried to withdraw the hand he was holding, but Hugo insistently held on, refusing to let go, "I’ll feed you."
Eleanor bowed her head, thankful that the dim light concealed her now blushing face.
Perhaps she hesitated too long, as Hugo directly placed the popcorn by her lips. She slightly opened her mouth and ate the popcorn.
Her mouth filled with fragrance instantly, filling her with satisfaction as she squinted her eyes in delight.
Hugo smirked and continued to feed her the next piece.
The two seemed to share an unusual synergy, with Hugo feeding and Eleanor watching the big screen while munching, her cheeks puffed like a hamster, looking immensely cute.
Despite being married, her occasional childlike behavior deeply moved Hugo.
He didn’t want to delve into the five years of her marriage to Nathaniel, concerned the deeper he went, the more he would care. Thus, he asked nothing from the start, pretending those five years never existed.
After the movie ended, Eleanor was still in a daze. She looked down and realized she had finished the popcorn.
The staff had already entered. Hugo remained seated, so Eleanor stayed still as well.
When most of the people had left the cinema, they gradually stood up and placed their glasses in the box held by the staff.
In fact, this was Hugo’s first time at a cinema too. He was so busy that he rarely had the leisure to come out like this.
It was already dark outside, pedestrians hurried by, and neon lights flashed vibrantly.
Eleanor, being led by his hand, felt a sense of wishing time would stop here, so that there wouldn’t be anything like the Quinton Family between them, nor any awkward identities.
"Big brother, want to buy a bouquet of flowers?"
A little girl selling flowers approached, cheerfully offering a large bunch of roses.
Hugo suddenly recalled Lan Yancy’s words that girls love flowers.
He took all the flowers and placed them in Eleanor’s arms.
"Do you like them?"
Eleanor looked down at the vibrant roses, her eyes smiling but she said nothing.
Hugo paid, ruffling her hair, "Are you hungry? Let’s go eat."
Before coming out, he had planned everything: first watching a movie, then giving flowers, and thirdly dining together.
However, plans couldn’t keep up with changes. Not far from them, at the entrance of a flower shop, Nathaniel Quinn witnessed the scene with a sullen face, nearly gripping the flower stems in his hand until they broke.
The shopkeeper standing nearby looked distressed at the flowers squeezed in Nathaniel’s hand, "Sir, are you buying or not? If not, don’t take it out on my flowers. If you squish them, who’d want these flowers? How would I sell them?"
Beside Nathaniel stood a girl who closely resembled Eleanor.
She really wanted to watch the re-release of "Titanic" in 3D, so she coaxed Nathaniel into coming.
While passing by the flower shop, she mentioned wanting some flowers and sweetly persuaded Nathaniel to buy them for her, which he agreed to.
During the purchase, however, the man kept his gaze fixed in a certain direction. She followed his line of sight and saw Hugo with Eleanor.
She knew Hugo because his face often appeared in financial newspapers, but the girl beside him...
Touching her own face instinctively, she finally realized who the girl was; it turned out to be the person Nathaniel was always thinking about.
"Nathaniel, should we go over and say hello?"
She spoke softly, taking the flowers and apologetically smiling at the florist, "We’ll buy these flowers."
Relieved, the florist said, "Three hundred and eighty. Miss, will you be paying or this gentleman?"
"I’ll pay."
After paying, she noticed Nathaniel still fixated on that place, feeling a slight pang of jealousy in her heart.
She had thought that by driving away Grace Lynch, she could secure a place in Nathaniel’s heart.
Didn’t expect, upon seeing the real person, the man would instantly have no eyes for her. She didn’t want to just be a substitute.
By now, Nathaniel had come to his senses. Seeing his uncle and Eleanor so intimate, he felt uncomfortable and immediately captured the scene, his eyes darkening.
If the head of the Quinton Family found out those two had gotten this close, he would likely step in to control it.
The head of the family fell ill from anger because of his uncle and hadn’t even been discharged from the hospital. Yet, his uncle hadn’t visited once, instead choosing to date a woman here, which was truly disheartening.
