    After a full day together, when it was time to leave, Dickson stayed behind.

    Mateo saw him remain but didn’t ask anything, just turned and left.

    Hmph. Once was enough for trying to warm up to a cold shoulder. He’d given Dickson the chanceb, /bbut when the other refused to say a word, there was no point asking again.

    When everyone else was gone, Dickson finally said, “Sis, once Victor’s situation is resolved, I want to bgo /babroad.”

    If it weren’t for Victor, he’d already be gone by now.

    Sierra’s heart sank. She knew Dickson was running away, but this was no one’s fault.

    Dickson wasn’t wrong. Mateo wasn’t wrong either.

    “Alright,” Sierra said. “Give it a few more days. Have you decided where you want to go?”

    All Sierra could do was support him, though she added, “Stay in touch with me often, even after you’re gone.”

    “Don’t worry, I will.”

    He lingered a little longer, and though Sierra wanted him to stay ithe /inight, he insisted on leaving.

    After seeing him off, Sierra let out a sigh.

    “This is something they’ll have to work out themselves,” Jonathan said. He had been watching too and knew his friend had no such intentions toward Dickson.

    Of course Sierra understood that. She just felt sorry for Dickson.

    Barely past twenty and he’d already been through so much – all because of those animals.

    As they were talking, Jonathan’s phone rang. The number was unfamiliar. He answered, and the bvoice /bon the other end said,

    “Someone’sing for you. Be careful.”

    The line went dead.

    Jonathan’s expression shifted. Almost immediately, the phone rang again – this time bit /bwas bthe /bhead bof /bhis security team. Someone was bringing a group of men up the mountain.

    Jonathan hung up, his face turning cold. He looked at Sierra. “Something’se bup/b. I need bto /bbgo /bbdown/bb. /b

    “Who is it?”

    She had heard enough of the earlier call to guess.

    “Victor’s people.”

    He had always wanted to know who Victor’s backer was in the country. This might be the chance bto /bbfind /b

    out.

    He was about to leave when Sierra grabbed his arm. “Could this be dangerousb?/b”

    For them to make such a loud move, they had to be confident. Everyone knew bthe /bWynn family’s bstanding /b– no one would provoke this lion without a solid n.

    “Let’s see first,” Jonathan said.

    For now, he needed to know what excuse they nned to use against him.

    Sierra understood they couldn’t avoid it. She nodded, telling him ito /ibe careful.

    When Jonathan reached the foot of the mountain, Wynn family security was already facing off with the

    Jonathan gave them a calm once–over. “You’re all so dedicated–working overtime on a weekend night.”

    Knowing Jonathan wasn’t someone to offend lightly, the man’s tone softened.

    “Apologies, Mr. Wynn. We’ve received reports that the Wynn family’s businesses are involved in smuggling, trafficking in prohibited goods, and illegal possession of firearms. We hope you’ll cooperate with our investigation.”

    Jonathan didn’t even ask for their evidence called “proof.”
