The Lucky Star is Sweet and Wild
Chapter 163: Perhaps It’s Fate
CHAPTER 163: CHAPTER 163: PERHAPS IT’S FATE
Gu Nian stumbled, almost falling to the ground, and turned back to look at Nan Jin Yu incredulously, "What do you mean?"
Could it be that he found out?
Nan Jin Yu raised his eyebrows, "Scared?"
Gu Nian bit her lower lip lightly, furrowing her brows tightly.
Of course she was scared. In situations like this, where she could easily be mistaken for a monster, how could she not be afraid?
Nan Jin Yu moved his wheelchair over to her side and reached out with his long fingers to pinch her fair, tender cheek, "Don’t be afraid, I won’t hurt you. I’ll always protect you, Gu Nian!"
Gu Nian shivered and took two steps back, but her heart suddenly felt a lot more settled.
"Why?" Gu Nian thought he didn’t sound like he was lying to appease her, but upon reflection, their acquaintance barely counted as knowing each other.
"Probably fate!" Nan Jin Yu suddenly recalled the first day he saw her, standing by the street holding a peach. The smile on her face instantly struck his heart.
Even after so much time has passed, remembering it again, it remains vividly clear.
Gu Nian unknowingly walked out the gate and only then realized the girls outside had already disappeared.
However, spilled porridge still remained on the ground—it seemed to be mung bean porridge—Wuming was awkwardly cleaning it up.
Remembering his incident of pulling her collar, Gu Nian felt a bit angry and deliberately snorted coldly in front of him before leaving.
Watching the spirited departure of Gu Nian, Wuming silently lowered his head and continued sweeping.
Wuxin always told him not to offend Gu Nian because the master treats her differently.
So, he tolerated it!
Gu Nian walked back to the entrance of her home, coincidentally seeing Lin Chunhua being dragged by her family.
Her face showed dissatisfaction, but there were two scratches on her cheek, and the woman dragging her was cursing vilely, wishing she could drag Li Yue’er’s ancestors over for a parade.
Seeing Gu Nian standing there watching them, Lin Chunhua’s parents stopped in their tracks, glaring viciously at Gu Nian, "What are you looking at? If it weren’t for you, this little brat, my Chunhua and that little bitch Li Yue’er wouldn’t be fighting!"
"Mom, I fought Li Yue’er myself; it has nothing to do with Gu Nian. Can’t you stop blaming everyone you see?" Lin Chunhua was still speaking up for Gu Nian.
So Gu Nian held back her fiery temper, took a deep breath, and walked into the gate.
Chunhua’s mother kept on nagging, "I wasn’t wrong! If it weren’t for her, could you and Li Yue’er get into a fight? It’s all Gu Nian’s fault; the two of you got hurt, but that little brat managed to hide quickly."
The first time she held back was due to good upbringing, but Gu Nian wasn’t a pushover.
Retracting her leg that had already stepped through the gate, Gu Nian turned her head and said, "Aunty, what you said is wrong. I was just passing by and hardly spoke a word, let alone instigating them to fight. So, their fight has nothing to do with me."
"Oh dear, tsk tsk!" Chunhua’s mother looked up and down at Gu Nian, "See? This is how the person you want to help talks. Not only does she not express gratitude, but she also blames you, the helper, for meddling."
Gu Nian clenched her fist, "If helping is like this, then I truly hope that next time, you all shouldn’t help me again."
The reason Lin Chunhua ended up fighting Li Yue’er was clearly because she became angry and embarrassed after Li Yue’er revealed her secret.
If it was truly about helping her, she would acknowledge the favor, but being spoken to like this by Chunhua’s mother surely wasn’t pleasant.
