The Lucky Star is Sweet and Wild
Chapter 91: Returning Home
CHAPTER 91: CHAPTER 91: RETURNING HOME
Gu Nian’s eyes flickered for a moment, and she said, "I don’t know what happened either. I fell into the river but managed to climb out, then I slipped into a ditch and got caught by a tree. When I woke up, I was like this. Oh, it was Young Master Nan who saved me and had someone bring me back."
"Young Master Nan is..." Lin Sanshui still didn’t know the names of Nan Jin Yu and his group.
Gu Nian said, "He’s the one who bought the village chief’s house!"
"So it was him. We must thank him properly another day."
Just as Lin Sanshui finished speaking, Erhu said, "Dad, let sister wash up quickly. Covered in mud like this must be very uncomfortable."
"Right, she does need a wash." Lin Sanshui looked at Gu Nian’s muddy state, feeling both heartache and amusement, and said, "I’ll have your mother come and clean Niannian up first. Erhu, go boil some water, a lot of it!"
Even though it’s hot in the summer, the water at night is still somewhat chilly. Gu Nian is too young, and bathing in cold water might be too much for her body.
Erhu nodded and went off after receiving the instruction.
Luckily, the family had just fetched water, which should be enough for the little sister to wash several times.
Lin Sanshui went into the house, and Mrs. Jiang hurried over. Seeing the mud on him, she forgot what she had originally planned to ask.
"It’s Niannian, the child is covered in mud. I’ll watch the house, you quickly go help the child clean up," Lin Sanshui said.
Mrs. Jiang immediately smiled, "It’s not a ghost, is it?"
Having cleared the whole lotus pond and without seeing anyone, they subconsciously thought Gu Nian was no longer in this world.
Just now, hearing her voice out of the blue was indeed quite frightening.
Lin Sanshui quickly glanced towards the doorway before turning back to Mrs. Jiang and said sternly, "Don’t say such things as ghosts. Don’t mention it again, especially not in front of the children."
"I know, I’m not foolish."
Mrs. Jiang said one line and then walked outside.
Gu Nian’s whole body was covered in mud, including her hair, making it really difficult to clean.
Mrs. Jiang first used a bit of hot water and roughly wiped her down with a towel, then had her sit in a wooden tub filled with hot water, changing the water several times until her body was thoroughly cleaned.
Gu Nian bent over with her head down while Mrs. Jiang used soapberry to scrub her hair over and over until the water was clear, and finally stopped!
Little Hu squatted nearby, repeatedly nodding off. Mrs. Jiang told him to go to bed first, but he wouldn’t listen.
It’s said that Sanhu had a fever in the afternoon and lay on the bed after sunset, and it still hasn’t gone down.
Mrs. Jiang wrapped Gu Nian’s hair in old clothes, only half-drying it, then brought a stool to the yard and let her sit outside to let the wind dry it.
Sanhu’s situation was still worrying; Mrs. Jiang wished she could divide herself into two.
Taking the chance when going to check on Sanhu, Gu Nian secretly dipped her index finger into Sanhu’s lips, letting the spiritual spring water flow into his mouth.
In the yard, Gu Nian sat on a small stool, and a gentle breeze blew lightly, bringing a slight chill.
Little Hu also sat beside her watching, occasionally nodding off and then suddenly waking up to continue watching her.
Gu Nian was both moved and heartbroken, "Little brother, I’m already fine. I’ll just sit here and dry my hair a bit, and once it’s dry, I can sleep. If you’re sleepy, you should go to bed first; you don’t have to wait for me."
Little Hu hurriedly shook his head, "No, I want to wait for sister to go to bed together."
