"Urgh."

As I was pulling down Ethan’s pants, his groan startled me, making me freeze and look at him.

It was the first time he had shown any reaction since passing out.

"Sir Ethan, are you conscious?"

I asked urgently, but he only furrowed his brows and let out a weak groan, still not fully awake.

Right. Now wasn’t the time to get distracted.

I finished removing Ethan’s pants and examined his wounds. Both his upper and lower body were covered in severe injuries.

Outside, the sky had already turned pitch black. If the sun hadn’t set, I would have risked taking Ethan to the hospital despite the dangers.

For now, I took a damp cloth and carefully wiped his body clean. Then, I pulled out the emergency antibiotics and syringe from my belt bag. Nox had prepared them for me.

I silently thanked him once again for teaching me first aid before everything went to hell. Placing a hand on Ethan’s forehead, I felt heat radiating from his skin.

He was practically a furnace.

"Did you know that before antiseptics were invented, soap was used as a disinfectant?"

It was the height of summer now.

In hot weather, applying ointment and wrapping wounds without proper disinfection could actually worsen bacterial growth, increasing the risk of secondary infections.

I lowered Ethan’s legs off the side of the bed.

Then, I rubbed a bit of soap above the wound—not directly on it—and poured water over it, letting the soapy liquid trickle down and cleanse the area.

I kept rinsing until all traces of soap were gone, then gently patted his wounds dry with a clean towel.

Only after thoroughly cleaning all his injuries did I fill the syringe with antibiotics.
