Chapter 105: A touch of the cult
CHAPTER 105: A TOUCH OF THE CULT
Inside the palace, Vorthane was moving through the hallway with numerous maids and butlers behind him, listening to his orders with rapt attention.
"There should be no mistakes. The guests that are coming include from Dukes to Barons. Select the best wines to serve and ask the cook to prepare a balanced food suitable for everyone’s palate."
The maids and butlers nodded as he kept on speaking.
"Since you all are head maids and butlers, make sure that every guest is assigned a personal maid and butler who are ready to serve at a moment’s call."
"Yes, prime minister." They all nodded in unison.
He kept on briefing them about the important tasks as they all walked through the hallway, just then Vorthane stopped, seeing a figure standing at the front, right at the middle of the hallway.
"General Cahill. I see that you’ve returned from your trip." Vorthane said with a smile.
"Fortunately, the crisis was held back. I didn’t need to do much." Cahill said.
"I got the news. It pained me to hear about so many innocent lives being lost." He said with a sad face.
"It was unfortunate indeed. But the day I catch those evil heretic bastards. I’ll rip out their intestines and feed it to the hounds while they’re alive." Cahill said in a cold voice, the anger visible on his face as he looked dead into Vorthane’s eyes.
"I hope those innocent souls get justice, and you’re able to catch them soon."
"You’ve been quite busy with the preparations it seems." Cahill said looking at the maids and butlers behind him.
"As you can see. Time is short, but preparations doesn’t seem to reach its ends." He said pointing at the maids and butlers. "Follow the procedure, and make sure this is done within tomorrow. I’ll check it later." He said turning his head to the back.
The maids and butlers nodded, bowed and started moving forward. They bowed to Cahill when they passed him and hurriedly left from the scene leaving the two of them standing between the hallway.
"Why don’t you share this burden with others, there’s no need to take all the responsibilities upon yourself. Or rather you think there are no useful people who can take responsibilities in the palace."
"Not at all general. It’s just that most of them are busy with other works. Take yourself, you had to run immediately when duty called."
Cahill chuckled at his response. "What if someone does a mistake or something unfortunate happens during the event, won’t all the blame come upon you?"
"That’s why I’m working so hard general. Making sure such kinds of things don’t happen. And I believe you’ll stand as a shield, protecting us from any misfortune." Vorthane said with a wide grin.
"I am a sword prime minister, not a shield. And I hope I won’t have to become one during the events, or else even I won’t know how many heads will roll." Cahill spoke in a cold voice.
"I can rest assured then general." Vorthane said with a smile. "If you’ll excuse me, I have to continue with the preparations."
"Yes, please." Cahill gave way as he stepped to the side.
Vorthane walked past him with a smile and nod. After moving to a distance, Vorthane’s smile vanished as his faced contorted into a frown. He knew Cahill was threatening him not to do anything funny, which irked him.
Cahill looked at Vorthane’s back, moving away from him. His lips lifted into a grin as he shook his head and walked away.
After walking for some time, Vorthane reached his office. He opened the door and moved inside when he saw a figure in an enforcer uniform sitting at the chair in front of his table.
Without getting surprised, he moved to his chair and took a seat as if he already expected the man to be present here.
"I greet the cult leader." The man stood up from his seat immediately upon seeing Vorthane and bowed, bending his waist almost parallel to the ground.
"Take a seat. I got the news about your achievements in Frostbane, Jekyll. I must say, I’m quite glad with your success." Vorthane said with a wide grin.
"Thank you for the praise cult leader." Jekyll said courteously.
"Will you be able to make the special squads now?" Vorthane asked.
"It’s still not ready cult leader. But I’ve almost ninety perfect done. With the final data, I’ll be able to start the mutant project."
"What about the successful specimens?"
"That’s...the problem right now cult leader. They are detained in the enforcer headquarters under strict security. I’ll need some time to acquire them."
"I see. Can the men not be included in the mutation project?"
"The success rate is almost nil cult leader. Women are the bearer of life, so they have a higher change of accepting the beast souls, and since the beast soul are yang in nature, the yin in women balance it out. But for men, it is quite difficult. for that we’ll need a yin energy source to calm the yang."
"Hmm...what about the portal team? Are they done with their work."
"Yes, cult leader. They have placed the seed in the specified area, the more it feeds, the more it will grow. This tournament will become the perfect spot for its evolution, and we’ll get all the data and specimen we need."
"Also, the young squad has registered and are ready to enter with the other participants. Their auras have been completely masked. Even Mana masters won’t be able to see anything." Jekyll said.
"Perfect." Vorthane nodded with satisfaction. "There is one other important mission. I think the problem with your yin and yang will be solved with this. I need you to include Lecter in this."
Jekyll was a bit surprised as Lecter was a psycho. He was a madman without an ounce of emotion. He feared nothing and could do anything.
"What kind of mission is it cult leader?"
"During the birthday event of the king, Duke William Gandolf will be attending. Right now he has a troublesome matter of making his grandson the heir of the Ranatosh. But duke Danver is not accepting this."
"What he needs right now is a breakthrough. If you help him achieve this goal of his, I think you know what you can ask as a price in return?"
"Cult leader...you mean..." Jekyll was surprised, realizing the thing that he was to ask as the prize.
"Yes. It’s definitely what you think it is!" Vorthane said with a smile as a wide grin spread on Jekyll’s face.
