CHAPTER 74: DISASTER STRIKES (1)

Layla thrust her sword forward, and it pierced through the heart of the dark wizard. Blood gushed out and soaked the robe. After she pulled the sword out, he fell on the ground, dead.

On the other side Adam slashed at one dark wizard, making a long cut from the neck to the chest. Blood jutted out and choked his pipe as he fell and died on the spot, choking on his own blood.

Adam supported himself with the sword on the ground gasping for breath. He had finally killed the dark wizard after a long struggle, while there were five more bodies of dark wizards on the ground, killed by Layla.

"You alright? Can you move?" Layla asked.

"L-Let me c-catch my b-breath." Adam somehow squeezed the words out.

ROOAAARRRR!!!!!

Just then a loud roar struck their ears. It was so loud that they could hear it even from such a long distance and the intense bloodlust that came with it made their hairs stand on end. Black lines formed on their foreheads. Tension and anxiety gripped their minds immediately.

"We need to move. Now!" Layla got tense. The roar was from a very powerful beast. The thing that worried her was, whether the place where the roar came from, Luke was also present there.

"Shit!" Adam couldn’t rest even for a second. Layla had already sprinted off. He collected himself and started following her, though he wasn’t as fast as Layla, he tried to match her pace as much as he could. As along with Layla, he too had the urgency of finding his wife.

On the other hand, Anna along with Bren, Fred, Shane and Ruby were rushing through the tunnel. Just then they heard the loud roar of a beast.

They were shocked. The roar sounded to come from a distance, but the slight trace of bloodlust they felt agitated them.

"Pick her up. We’re rushing ahead." Anna sensed the urgency of the situation as she asked Shane to pick his sister up so that they can move faster.

Shane nodded and picked Ruby up in his arms. "Hold tight sister." Ruby nodded and wrapped her arms around his neck.

Anna and the other two channeled mana into their feet and zoomed away at breakneck speed. Shane activated the mana stone in his mechanical legs as a three small metal pipes jutted out behind his calves and an intense blast of energy came out, pushing him forward, as he ran neck to neck with the others.

Luke and Raguel moved forward after tying the two homunbis up and leaving them there. After a few minutes, they cam out of the tunnel into a wider space.

But just as they came out, they were greeted with a team of dark wizards and a few homunbis. Five dark wizards were in front of a metal door. They were standing guard, trying to stop anyone from entering inside.

In front of them were four homunbis. Two were matillo homunbis, one a flying raven homunbis, her arms covered with large jet black feathers as she was flying in the air and the last one was a wolf homunbis, standing on two legs and long black nails on her fingers like daggers.

Luke and Raguel felt quite the pressure on themselves. Dealing with the dark wizards was not that difficult since they could fight without holding back, but the homunbis were a different case. They had to subjugate them and hold back from killing them by mistake.

Before they could discuss any plans, the matillos came rolling towards them fast. Luke and Raguel jumped sideways, evading them.

Just when Luke landed on the ground, the wolf homunbis came rushing, swung its sharp nails towards him. Luke lifted his gauntlet up as the nails scratched the surface, producing sparks.

Luke channeled prana and swung a punch towards the wolf. A shockwave moved out from his gauntlets, making the wolf homunbis fly away to the distance.

But before he could catch a breath, two fireballs came at him.

"These fuckers!" Luke lifted his hands forward into a cross when the fireballs hit his gauntlets. But being immune to most fires, he came out completely unscratched, with just a few spots of his clothes burning.

He knew that dealing with the wizards came first as, as they would hide behind the homunbis and will keep poking them.

He was about to rush towards them when suddenly the matillo homunbis cam out of nowhere and struck at his side, blasting him away as he struck the wall with a boom. Rocks crumbling down as cracks formed on the stones in the wall.

Raguel was holding the matillo homunbis back with his sword. His feet were slowly sliding back on the ground as he was trying to hold his ground, but the continuous lightning shots from the raven homunbis was irritating him.

Just then he heard a boom. He turned his head and saw Luke flying away and hitting the wall. That small moment of distraction made him unaware of the flying stone needles that were about to strike him.

Mana rushed to his feet and he jumped up. The matillo rolled forward and the stone needles hit the ground he was in. but then a fireball arrived right in front of his face.

The diamond shaped mark appeared on his forehead and a wave of white sword arc struck the fireball as he slashed his sword, cutting the fireball into two.

The fireball blasted and smoke spread in the air. The raven homunbis rushed out from within the smoke. A ray of lightning ready in front of her beak.

Raguel wasn’t prepared for this as the ray struck him right at his chest, he felt intense pain as the sword loosened from his grip and fell on the ground, as he rolled down on the ground along with it.

Luke got up and was about to rush to the wizards again, but then he saw Raguel being struck with the lightning ray and the raven homunbis was about to slash him with her claws.

Prana rushed to his feet and he vanished from the spot. When the claws were about to slash him, a prana covered fist hit squarely on the homunbis’s face, blasting her away to the distance.

"Are you alright?" Luke asked as Raguel picked up his sword and gingerly stood up.

"I’m f-fine." Raguel said, his voice strained from the shock of the lightning. "We have to deal with the wizards first. They are very annoying."

"I was thinking the same thing. Evade these half beast and focus on rushing towards them. I strike from the left and you go from the right." Luke proposed.

Raguel nodded and both of them took position. Ready to rush ahead.

RRROOOAAARRRRRRR!!!!!!

Luke and Raguel held their ears as a loud roar struck their ears, it was ear piercing and filled with intense bloodlust.

For the first time while they were in the tunnel, their hearts shook as an unknow fear assaulted their minds, making them froze on their spots.

"W-What the hell is that?" Luke asked in shock.

"Its coming from behind that door."

"What kind of beast could it be?"

"I don’t know. But I’m sure of one thing. It’s not lower than...a disaster class."
