CHAPTER 84: FINAL ROUND

Adriana, Jane and Jordan stood on one end of the platform, fury in their eyes and fist clenched. Their mana stone belts were replaced with new ones and they were looking at the team opposite them with gritted teeth, furious at the insult they were showcasing.

Three members of Raven’s team, Vantar, Mia and shadow, stood opposite them, their lips lifted into a mocking smile.

"What is the meaning of this?" Adriana asked in a cold voice.

"Since you have three members, we can also send three members, didn’t you hear the rules at the start?" Mina said in a mocking tone.

"Why is your captain not here?"

"Because there’s no need. We three are enough for you people." Mina said.

"Start!!" the referee bellowed.

"We absolutely cannot lose this now." Adriana said, as Jane and Jordan nodded, their eyes burning with determination.

Just after the signal from the referee, Mina immediately casted a protection sphere around herself and on shadow and Vantar, she casted a strength and speed enhancement spell.

Shadow’s body turned into smoke and vanished from the scene. Vantar spun his doubled edged axe upon his head and stomped the edge of the hilt on the floor, inviting Adriana to attack with a mocking smile.

"Beware of shadow, he’s going to target you, Jane. Jordan, protect her. I’ll deal with this bear." Jane nodded and casted a protection sphere around her too, and Jordan stood in front of her with his shield.

Adriana covered her sword with mana and rushed towards Vantar. She thrust her sword towards his chest, but he stopped it with the axe and pushed her sword away.

She swung using the momentum from the push and slashed at him again, but the axe came in front again and stopped her attack.

"You’re this weak and you dream of fighting with our captain? Know your place." Vantar said mockingly.

Adriana gritted her teeth. She retrieved her sword and channeled mana into the blade. Ice started forming over it and turned into a sharp blade, bouncing off light from its edges.

Mana rushed to her feet and she vanished from the spot. Vantar’s eyes opened wide as he felt a coldness on his neck. He tilted his head downwards when the ice sword passed right above him in a horizontal slash, passing a few centimeters above his ear.

He rolled on the ground and moved back. a drop of sweat trickled down his forehead.

"Why don’t you smile now." Adrina mocked as her lips lifted into a grin.

"AARGGHHH!!" Vantar roared in anger. He channeled mana into his body as hard rocks started forming into an armor, covering his chest, belly, shoulders and arms.

Mana covered his axe and he rushed at Adriana. Both of them started exchanging blows as Vantar kept spinning his axe at Adriana, while she evaded and connected a few slashed in between, though they couldn’t break the hard rock armor, she chipped a few pieces away from it.

Jane and Jordan stood motionless in rapt attention, as Shadow was nowhere to be seen. Being an assassin, he depended on the element of surprise and needed a single strike to eliminate the wizards.

Just then a runic circle appeared in front of Jordan, he moved his shield forward, ready for any incoming attack. But to his surprise, numerous colorful flowers bloomed out from it. He was taken aback and couldn’t understand what kind of attack will come from these simple flowers.

As the flowers bloomed, they released uncountable number of small pollens. These pollens floated slowly and surrounded Jordan and they then passed him by and floated to the back. Jane was within the protection sphere and didn’t worry much about them.

But when the pollens fell on the sphere, it started making holes in the transparent shield. Jane was shocked and realized what use the spell had.

"Jordan!" she yelled out to him, but before Jordan could react, Shadow appeared behind her and a trail of purple line appeared on her neck, and her mana stone broke immediately, eliminating her.

Jordan rushed to intercept Shadow, but when he reached, Shadow was gone, vanished again. just then the flowers on the floor swelled and burst, releasing yellow smoke, which filled the area of the platform where Jordan was.

Jordan covered himself in mana and waited for Shadow to appear. Even after waiting for a few minutes, he was nowhere to be seen.

Just then he felt something crawling on his legs, when he looked down, he saw a swarm of ants moving up his body. A chill went down his spine and he started running around swinging his arms vehemently, his shield dropped on the floor as he kept trying to remove the ants with his hands, as the one thing that he had a phobia of, was ants.

Shadow silently appeared near Jordan. He didn’t even realize that shadow was standing just beside him. A slash of the mana covered dagger fell on Jordan’s neck, his mana stone broke and he vanished from the platform and appeared below beside Jane.

"Stop! That’s an illusion, you inhaled all that smoke you moron." Jane yelled at Jordan, and just after that he realized that he was given an illusion of his greatest fear and now when he looked, the ants where nowhere to be seen.

"Tch! Such a huge body, and he fears those small ants." Jane clicked her tongue in annoyance.

Adriana was exchanging blows with Vantar when she saw Jane and Jordan appear below the platform. She realized that they had been eliminated. Anger rose inside her as her grip tightened on the sword. Mana rushed to her sword as she slashed hard.

Vantar blocked the slash with his axe, but the force was so large that he went flying back, he rolled a few times before standing up on his feet. He arms shook from the force of that attack. Giving him quite the shock.

Mana started covering her whole body as she was getting ready to unleash her spirit form. Anger was boiling inside her and she wasn’t able to endure anymore.

"STOP!" Roger bellowed as he stood up from his seat. "Team Adriana has lost. They will not continue."

Adriana was shocked. She couldn’t understand why their general was giving up when she could have still won this.
