CHAPTER 86: GUILD’S RECOMMENDATION

Luke and the others, along with Anna and Layla were sitting around a round table in one of the tents. There was a letter in Luke’s hand along with a letter of recommendation with a seal of the adventurers guild.

"What does it say?" Noah asked in curiosity.

"King Edgar Regelak is holding a tournament on the occasion of his sixtieth birthday, and has invited teams from all over the kingdom."

"So?" Ruby asked.

"The adventurers guild also received an invitation, and the guildmaster has recommended us for the participation."

They were shocked, they couldn’t believe at first but Noah was a bit skeptical.

"But why us? There are higher ranked teams in the guild. We’re just a D rank."

"Because the age limit is under twenty. Taking our recent endeavors in consideration, the guild selected us."

"Is there any reward?" Shane asked with hopeful eyes.

"Fifty thousand gold coins, a disaster class beast mana stone and a drop of ’Life boon’." Luke said with a wide grin.

All of them were shocked, their jaws almost dropping to the floor. But then ecstasy ran through them, they couldn’t hold their smiles and looked at each other in excitement.

"I-I will be a-able to complete my dream suit then." Shane spoke under his breath.

"What?" Luke asked as he couldn’t hear him well.

"Huh? N-Nothing."

Luke’s brows creased as he looked at Shane skeptically, he was confused as he definitely heard Shane say something.

"What will you do then?" Anna asked, bringing everyone’s focus back on Luke, as he hadn’t spoken about his decision to participate or not, being the leader.

"What do you say guys? Should we participate?" Luke looked at the three of them as he asked.

"Obviously!"

"Definitely!"

"Without a doubt."

Luke laughed getting such intense approvals from his team.

"Alright then. The tournament is in two weeks, so we move a week later." Luke said as the three of them nodded in approval.

Anna’s lips lifted themselves into a wide grin. Since Luke and the others will be moving to the capital, they have to pass through the Ranatosh dukedom. He couldn’t avoid it now. she would now use this chance to ease the tension between their father and Luke.

Just then Bren entered and moved towards Anna. He whispered something into her ears. Anna’s face changed from shocked to worry as she kept listening.

After he had spoken, Anna nodded as he bowed and moved out of the tent.

"What’s the matter sister?" Layla asked, seeing her worried face.

"A messenger just arrived from the dukedom...father has called for us immediately. He said Duke Argon is visiting and...he thinks its not for anything good."

A wave of shock spread among the people inside the tent. There is not a single person within the empire who doesn’t know of the empire’s sword, a domain master, Duke Argon Dragnos.

"Is this somehow..."

"It’s Hela and the Gandolf’s scheme. They want to pressure father to announce Leo as his heir." Anna clenched her teeth in anger.

Silence stretched inside the tent. The mood shifted from excitement to worry and nervousness.

"You have to come with us Luke." Anna looked at Luke with an intense gaze.

"I’m sorry big sis. I have no concern with what happens with the dukedom." Luke said in a cold voice.

"Don’t you know why this is happening? It’s all because they want to take what’s yours and give it to that Leo!"

"I don’t want to be the heir; I never wanted to. You are the rightful heir big sis."

"I am the daughter. I have no claim to the seat, and why would I want something that rightfully belongs to you?"

"I think that’s a bullshit rule! What if you’re a woman, are you any less than a man? You’re the chief officer of the internal securities of the kingdom. Even those mighty men weren’t able to get there. You’re far more capable and worthy of running the dukedom. Far better than me and even father."

Anna tried to retort but no words came out of her mouth, she just stood with her mouth open. Layla smiled as Luke had said the things that she used to say all the time. she was glad that Luke also shared her opinion and loves his sister as much as she does.

"Some things can’t be changed Luke, no matter how much you want them to. I’d rather die then see that worthless piece of shit be the heir. You don’t need to come back completely, just this once, so that we can deny that bastards claim for the seat."

"I’m sorry big sis. But I won’t. I have no relation to the dukedom. My mother and father have died and I have two loving sisters left, that’s all I know." Luke started moving out of the tent as he didn’t want to argue more, but just then Noah’s words stopped him on his track.

"Since this will be a separate mission, you’ll pay us more right, lady Anna?" Noah said with a smile.

"It would be great if the reward is at least half of the previous mission." Ruby said.

"Money is always welcomed." Shane nodded in approval.

Anna was surprised at their words, she couldn’t understand at first, but then a smile spread on her face as she saw the three of smiling and realized that they were helping her in this matter.

"This isn’t right guys. You shouldn’t be helping her, we’re a team remember?" Luke whined at the three of them.

"We’re adventurers man. We never say no to missions and money. That’s the true spirit of being an adventurer." Noah said in a solemn voice as Ruby and Shane chuckled at the side.

Luke was stumped, he couldn’t believe they were using such tactics to make him agree. He was about to retort when Anna excitedly agreed.

"The reward will be ten thousand gold coins! I’ll pay thirty thousand in total."

"Deal!" Noah gave a thumps up, and agreed instantly. The three of them then looked towards Luke for his final approval.

Luke gave out deep sigh. "Just do what you want." He shook his head and moved out of the tent.

"He says yes." Shane said with an innocent face as all the others laughed.
