The Master of Beasts
Chapter 172 - 149 Cooperation at Green Dragon Peak, Three Little Dragons_2
CHAPTER 172: CHAPTER 149 COOPERATION AT GREEN DRAGON PEAK, THREE LITTLE DRAGONS_2
"Junior Brother, no need for such politeness. The people from Green Dragon Peak are like True Dragons—the richest, yet also the pettiest. You’ll get used to it. The other three peaks are far more generous; they’ll likely follow suit soon enough," Wudao Tian remarked, a hint of mockery in his tone.
With thirty Flood Dragons a day, if the other three peaks offered similar terms, he’d have to deal with one hundred and thirty Spiritual Beasts daily. If he didn’t merely go through the motions and instead worked at full capacity, it would actually only take about two shichen, which was tolerable considering the incredibly generous rewards.
As his Senior Brother had predicted, less than a shichen after Jiang Ziyue of Green Dragon Peak had departed, the Elders from the other three peaks arrived.
Upon reviewing the Contract set by Green Dragon Peak, the other three peaks also established conditions that were not much different.
In the three days that followed, all four peaks delivered their promised rewards. The Merits could be set aside for now, as Chen Jiuge already possessed a considerable amount and wasn’t in urgent need of more.
Green Dragon Pond, White Tiger Pond, Vermilion Bird Pond, and Xuanwu Pond were situated in the four cardinal cores of the Cycle Star Formation.
Gazing at the Great Array evolving into its four phases, Wudao Tian said with envy, "With a True Immortal guarding it, I fear even ordinary Heavenly Immortals couldn’t breach an Array of this strength."
As for the remaining Divine Beast cubs, Green Dragon Peak was an exception. The other three peaks used other precious Treasures to replace them. This was because, unlike True Dragons, the reproductive rate of the Divine Beasts of these three peaks was very slow. If they were all breeding machines like the True Dragons, it would be uncertain whether Green Dragon Peak could maintain its status as the number one peak of the Inner Sect.
「Green Dragon Peak」
Jiang Ziyue tossed Chen Jiuge into a Pocket World specially arranged for True Dragon cubs and said, "You may choose one, provided it is willing to go with you. Time is not an issue. If it doesn’t work out this time, you can come back again, but you only have three chances."
"Thank you, Uncle Jiang."
I hope you pick a strong cub. In recent days, the Flood Dragons delivered by Chen Jiuge had shown significant growth, and the Peak Master of Green Dragon Peak personally expressed a desire to strengthen their collaboration. The Pocket World Chen Jiuge entered this time contained some of the strongest cubs, who, naturally, also possessed the fiercest temperaments.
Upon entering the Secret Realm, Chen Jiuge was immediately met by many pairs of large, staring eyes.
Nearly a hundred True Dragon cubs regarded Chen Jiuge with curiosity. Just yesterday, an Elder had specifically informed them that someone would come today to choose one of them, and they should decide if they wished to accompany him. Consequently, these young dragons had gathered at the Pocket World’s entrance early in the morning, awaiting Chen Jiuge’s arrival.
Feeling a bit awkward under the scrutiny of so many pairs of large, sparkling eyes, Chen Jiuge offered a greeting, "Hello?"
"We’re doing well, Big Brother! Are you the cultivator who has come to choose one of us? Do you have any food?" the first to speak was a bright blue Water Dragon.
"Do you have roasted meat? I like roasted lamb, but roasted pork is good too," a red Fire Dragon said, drooling.
"All you think about is eating! I’m different. Do you have any delicious Spirit Fruits? I adore tasty Spirit Fruits!" stated a Hundred Flowers Dragon, a variant of the True Dragon.
As the clamor grew, Chen Jiuge, his head starting to ache from the noise, couldn’t help but shout, "Quiet! Let me explain the situation first. Then you can decide if you want to come with me. It’s perfectly fine if you don’t."
Chen Jiuge then briefly described the Spirit Plants and Spirit Fruits available in Eden Garden, the variety of Spiritual Beast meat he could provide, and the general treatment they would receive if they followed him.
"Ah, we have to earn our own Spirit Stones? I’m not going," the laziest Earth Dragon said, being the first to leave.
As the other cubs gradually dispersed, only the initial three remained, gazing hopefully at Chen Jiuge.
Seeing the trio were clearly foodies, Chen Jiuge couldn’t help but remind them, "Your drool is about to hit the ground."
"Ah, really? Our apologies!" they chorused, simultaneously and neatly retracting their drool, their movements and postures identical.
Chen Jiuge speculated, "Are you siblings?"
"No, we are sisters," the three dragons declared proudly.
Chen Jiuge was speechless. "What are you so proud of? And as young ladies, do you really need to be *this* gluttonous?"
After much questioning, Chen Jiuge confirmed that all three cubs did want to go with him. However, he only had one spot, which left him rather troubled.
To be honest, these three little dragons were quite cute. Being sisters, it did seem somewhat inhumane to separate them, so he relayed the situation to Elder Jiang.
"Nephew Chen, these three gluttonous little dragons you speak of... I don’t seem to recall them?" Jiang Ziyue, who had just arrived, questioned with a probing gaze.
Then, his eyes fell upon three little dragons, squatting neatly on the ground, drooling in unison.
"Why is it you three? Weren’t you already forbidden from entering this Pocket World? And where are your parents? Weren’t they instructed to look after you themselves?" Jiang Ziyue demanded, somewhat exasperated.
"Elder, we came back on our own," the Water Dragon said proudly.
"But what about the Barrier? How did you get in?"
"We ate it," the Hundred Flowers Dragon said innocently.
"It just didn’t taste very good, though," the Fire Dragon added, offering its critique.
The corner of Jiang Ziyue’s mouth twitched. He pulled Chen Jiuge aside and said, "Nephew Chen, these three little dragons... they’re rather special. Are you sure you want to choose them? If it’s these three, I can make an exception and let you have them all."
Hearing this, Chen Jiuge sensed that something was amiss and immediately inquired further.
It turned out the father of these three little dragons was a Space Dragon, a variant even more formidable than a Five Elements True Dragon. However, this particular Space Dragon was rather... unreliable. Dragons are inherently promiscuous, and this Space Dragon was exceptionally so. The issue was, he also had high standards, generally only pursuing True Dragons. That’s why he only had these three offspring—the very same three little dragons.
