CHAPTER 195: CHAPTER 1 THE BEGINNING OF THE JOURNEY_4
Yue Meng, who was checking her makeup in the mirror, casually remarked, "He’s too unruly."
...
Carrying two hundred Spirit Stones, Da Bai became a Night Assassin that evening. However, due to the rules within the Five-Colored Immortal City that prohibited fighting, he only roughed up those people a bit and seized the opportunity to rob them.
Damn, those two are hidden too well! It’s too late now, Da Bai thought, looking at the faintly brightening sky, somewhat puzzled. Is my title of Night Assassin going to be lost?
Ultimately, Da Bai failed to find He Long and Zhang Yuan’s hideout. He could only return to the inn with a large bag of loot, feeling thoroughly depressed.
Seeing Da Bai, who reeked of blood, Nian Yu asked cautiously, "Did you kill them all?"
Da Bai’s gaze fell upon her prominent chest, and his mood instantly brightened. "How could I? I’m just a kid. I only beat them up. Sister, do you happen to know where He Long and Zhang Yuan live?"
Nian Yu, noticing Da Bai’s unwavering stare at her chest, instinctively covered herself with her hands and said, "I don’t know." Then she hurriedly walked away.
"Why leave so fast?" Da Bai muttered regretfully.
...
"If we can’t find them, then just forget it. A couple of Returning to Void cultivators won’t cause much trouble. We should be heading to our next destination in a few days anyway," Chen Jiuge said comfortingly, patting Da Bai’s head.
"My turn." Once Chen Jiuge moved aside from Da Bai, Yue Meng stepped forward, extending her hand.
Da Bai looked at Yue Meng’s outstretched hand, completely puzzled. "What is it?"
"The Spirit Stones! You didn’t finish the job properly, did you?"
After a fierce argument between the two little ones, Da Bai tearfully returned one hundred Top Grade Spirit Stones to Yue Meng.
...
Today, the Purple Inn was unusually quiet. Only a few Loose Cultivators, whose savings hadn’t yet been entirely plundered, remained. They were scattered about, sporadically drinking the lowest quality Spiritual Wine.
When they saw Chen Jiuge and his two companions descend the stairs, they immediately fell silent, not daring to utter a sound.
It was only after the trio had walked some distance that these Loose Cultivators began to murmur amongst themselves, lamenting how they had misjudged the man. This person is unfathomable, someone not to be provoked!
.....
Early that morning, He Long received news from a fellow practitioner that some cultivators had been robbed the previous night. For his own safety, He Long quickly left the city, intending to seek refuge with his Senior Brother. The thought of having to live the fugitive life of an Evil Cultivator after joining his Senior Brother caused malicious ideas to take root in He Long’s mind.
"Is what you said true?" He Biao, who was as corpulent as a pig, glared ferociously at the wretched, dog-like He Long.
"Senior Brother, how could I possibly deceive you?" He Long pleaded, feigning sincerity.
"Hmph. It had better be a truly fat sheep. But if this sheep refuses to come out, I can’t very well storm into the Five-Colored Immortal City to rob them, can I?" He Biao said with a derisive smirk.
With a mournful expression, He Long returned to the Five-Colored Immortal City. My own Senior Brother is truly ruthless! He actually expects me to lure those people out. Isn’t that sending me to my death?
As fate would have it, He Long then encountered the trio, who were out for a leisurely stroll.
The moment their eyes met, a thousand thoughts flashed through He Long’s mind. But before he could fully process them, Da Bai snapped him out of his reverie with a sharp flick to the forehead.
"So it’s you! You’re the one who made me lose one hundred Top Grade Spirit Stones! Spit it out, where were you hiding last night?" Da Bai demanded fiercely, perched on He Long’s neck.
However, combined with his cute little boy appearance, this only made him seem adorably fierce.
He Long certainly didn’t find it adorable. A profound terror gripped his heart, and he stammered, "I... I went treasure hunting last night. It’s just... I couldn’t open the Barrier."
Chen Jiuge and Yue Meng instantly saw through the clumsy fabrication. Da Bai, however, seemed somewhat convinced. "Really? Where is it? Take me there, and I’ll forgive you."
"Is this what they call self-deception?" Yue Meng wondered aloud curiously.
"Don’t worry about him; just let him play," Chen Jiuge remarked, unconcerned that Da Bai might encounter any real danger.
The most powerful cultivators in the Five-Colored Immortal City were merely True Immortals. Furthermore, on this outing, each Spiritual Beast carried a life-saving Jade Token bestowed by a True Immortal. Consequently, at least within the confines of the Five-Colored Immortal City, they faced no genuine threat.
Realizing he might actually be able to fool the little boy perched on him, He Long was inwardly ecstatic. I’m saved!
...
Riding atop He Long, Da Bai was led directly to the ambush point. Chen Jiuge and Yue Meng, eager to watch the fun, were quietly mounted on Ao Li—who usually resided within the Personal Grotto Heaven—observing the unfolding drama from the sky.
"We’re here?" Da Bai surveyed the wide, empty, unobstructed clearing, a puzzled look on his face. He even jumped down from He Long and meticulously scanned the area several times. Besides the large, fat man who had suddenly materialized before him, there was truly nothing else to be seen.
"HAHAHA! You little fool, prepare to die!" He Long cackled arrogantly, swiftly darting to conceal himself behind his Senior Brother He Biao’s imposing figure.
"Junior Brother, all this fuss for such a little brat? Let me take a look," He Biao said as a third, blood-red eye slowly opened on his forehead, its gaze fixing intently on Da Bai.
In an instant, Da Bai, who had the appearance of a small boy, transformed into a young Fire Qilin. He Biao was overjoyed. "A Fire Qilin! HAHAHA! Junior Brother, you’ve done exceptionally well! I actually suspected you were trying to set your Senior Brother up. That was my mistake. Once we capture this Fire Qilin, I shall thank you properly!"
A Fire Qilin? He Long immediately sensed that something was terribly wrong. Besides this little boy, there was also that little girl with them. If he’s a Fire Qilin, then what in the world is her identity? And what does that make me for provoking such beings? It seems I’ve stumbled into a hornet’s nest and angered some truly formidable individuals!
While He Biao was making his move, He Long seized the chance to flee.
"Master, that guy is trying to run away!" Yue Meng exclaimed, watching He Long escape.
"Don’t worry about him. I’ve already dispatched Li Kui. My original intention was for him to scout for any potential ambushes. He Long won’t be able to escape," Chen Jiuge stated, showing little concern for the fleeing man.
However, that He Biao fellow down below possesses a very potent aura; his strength shouldn’t be underestimated. I wonder what his origins are, Chen Jiuge mused.
