The Master of Beasts
Chapter 432 - 81 Outrage
CHAPTER 432: CHAPTER 81 OUTRAGE
The moment Luo Te and Carter died, word reached the Demon Clan’s main camp, situated far away at the heart of the battlefield.
Oben said with a gloomy face, "All dead. Interesting, interesting. Some insignificant insects actually dare to provoke the great True Demon Clan."
"Ao Wen, you won’t stop me this time, will you?"
Ao Wen, his face uncertain, shook his head and said, "Of course not. This time, it is my mistake. I thought they were just a bunch of rabbits, but it turns out they are wolves."
"Wolves? Ao Wen, you think too highly of them. At best, they are just hedgehogs with spikes," Oben said disdainfully.
SNAP. A purple military token clattered to the ground. In an instant, a chilling figure appeared.
Oben looked at Gulun, who was kneeling on one knee, and said calmly, "Gulun, the troops under your command are all dead. Go and avenge them."
"I will obey the military order. I will cut down all enemies who offend our clan," Gulun said hoarsely.
"I can still trust you," Oben nodded.
「...」
On the other side, Mo Yu had finally tallied the casualties.
"Three hundred sixty-eight True Immortals, two hundred thirty-two Heavenly Immortals?" Chen Jiuge looked incredulously at the figures. How could there be so many?
"Brother Chen, it really is that many," Mo Yu said, also finding it hard to believe.
Consider that the True Demon Clan numbered at most five thousand this time, with their Heavenly Immortals around one thousand five hundred. Chen Jiuge’s side, however, including the later-arriving Yaksha Clan, boasted nearly eight thousand Heavenly Immortals and almost twenty thousand True Immortals.
Despite such a huge disparity, the casualties were still so heavy. It was truly frightening.
"It seems we need to find a way to enhance individual strength," Chen Jiuge said, frowning.
"Maybe we should teach some more powerful Divine Skills," Mo Yu suggested.
Chen Jiuge did have some powerful Divine Skills on hand; after all, having eradicated so many races during his expansion, it was impossible that he hadn’t confiscated any.
"Excluding the very top Divine Skills, make the rest available. However, each person may only choose one. To acquire more, they must exchange military merits."
"Also, Mo Yu, I know it’s some trouble, but please establish the military merit system. Work out the exchange rate between military merits and Law Crystals, and determine the merits needed for Elixirs, Magic Artifacts, and so on. Please try to make the arrangements as reasonable as possible."
"Okay, I’ll get on it."
Looking at the pale Law Crystal in his hand, Chen Jiuge’s brow furrowed deeply. These crystals are undoubtedly good things; they can accelerate Cultivation progress and enhance understanding of the Laws, yet they offer little direct help to combat power. Still, cultivators value Cultivation above all else. If I were to forcibly confiscate these, military morale would likely crumble in an instant. What a troubling matter!
In fact, Chen Jiuge wasn’t the only one with a headache; Yaksha Jing and Jing Gao felt the same way. The effect of these Law Crystals was astonishing, far exceeding those obtained from exterminating other clans. Moreover, they were effective even for Heavenly Immortals, making them practically sacred items for Cultivation!
Aside from these issues, a greater problem was the dynamic between the Crystal Clan and Chen Jiuge’s subordinates.
Although the valley was not small, it wasn’t particularly large either. All the cultivators present were Immortals, and each required, at the very least, a sufficiently large Cultivation Chamber. For any Cultivator, keeping one’s training private was a matter of utmost secrecy.
「Green Bamboo Realm」
The Spiritual Beasts clutched Law Crystals, cultivating with all their might. Even the usually lazy Da Bai was training with great diligence.
The battle against the True Demon Clan made many Spiritual Beasts realize their shortcomings. Many had nearly fallen on the battlefield. If not for the help of the Asura soldiers, they might have suffered losses this time.
「On the vast Gobi Desert, where yellow sand filled the sky」
Moya stroked the Hell War Horse beneath him. Looking at the cultivators struggling to resist in the distance, a trace of displeasure crossed his face. "Mere prey. Bring me my War Bow!"
The huge black War Bow was brought out by a trusted aide. Moya stood on horseback and drew the bow to full moon.
In an instant, the arrow pierced through a cultivator’s head, leaving a streak of crimson on the yellow earth.
"General, the enemy has been spotted ahead."
Moya patted the scout’s head and said, "These are not enemies, they are prey!"
"Keep moving forward. I want to see if this prey dares to strike."
Luo Longxiang and Ming Dao stood on a small hill, watching the advancing True Demon Clan army in the distance.
"Are they looking down on us?" Luo Longxiang demanded, veins bulging on the back of his hand gripping the spear.
"This is very normal," said Ming Dao, his expression calm.
A quarter of an hour later, the two armies met. Without words, each drew their weapons, and a war erupted.
A huge Shura Dharma Image and a Netherworld King Dharma Image rose over the Gobi Desert. The explosions of Divine Skills and Magical Arts, the clash of flesh and bone—these sounds echoed continuously until one side was utterly obliterated.
Moya surveyed the carnage littering the ground, a half-eaten corpse clutched in his hand. A flicker of rage crossed his face. "Mere prey! To think mere prey cost me half my forces!"
"My hand! My hand!" The severed stump of his arm was a silent testament to the battle’s brutality.
"General, the battle report is in! We lost six thousand True Immortals and one thousand two hundred Heavenly Immortals. We killed three thousand enemy Heavenly Immortals and twelve thousand True Immortals!"
Moya viciously tore off another chunk of flesh from the corpse. "To suffer such heavy losses and still not eliminate all the prey... It’s absurd!"
"General, although we didn’t manage to capture all of them in this battle, their two leaders have been killed. The rest are unlikely to stir up much trouble," the Deputy General consoled.
"That’s true," Moya conceded. "Rodan, first, see to the troops’ morale. Distribute these cultivator corpses among them. And deploy several more scout teams."
