The Master of Beasts
Chapter 455 - 90_2
CHAPTER 455: CHAPTER 90_2
Chen Jiuge touched the forehead of the Taiji Deer with some surprise and exclaimed, "Just plain fur? I can’t even sense its Cultivation level; how interesting."
To verify the strength of this Taiji Deer, Chen Jiuge had Wufu make a move.
A tiny column of intense fire burst from Wufu’s mouth. The originally composed Taiji Deer, sensing the danger, instantly flipped its distinctly black-and-white eyes—an eerie sight with one black and one white eyeball.
A phantom Tai Chi Diagram appeared in front of the Taiji Deer. Wufu’s fiery column was extinguished piece by piece by the spinning diagram, making Chen Jiuge quietly marvel.
"Tai Chi, Yin and Yang? This isn’t a mutation; it must be an ancestral reversion," Chen Jiuge felt somewhat shaken.
Over the past year or so, Chen Jiuge had not neglected his study of the Spiritual Beasts of the True Realm. The True Realm was currently in the Modern Ancient Era, and before this era, there existed a Chaotic Era.
It was said that during that era, the Human Clan was merely one among many races, and a rather weak one at that. The truly powerful races were the Spiritual Beasts; as for the Alien races, they only appeared in modern times.
Tai Chi, Tai Chi... wait, could it be that one? Chen Jiuge suddenly recalled a type of Spiritual Beast mentioned in the comprehensive beast bestiary stored within his Token.
Yin Yang Deer: Body of black and white, able to control Yin and Yang, a naturally born True Immortal!
It shouldn’t be, but it must have awakened part of the Yin Yang Deer’s Bloodline.
"No wonder the mere Great Divine Power Realm Yin Pole Deer and Yang Pole Deer attracted the Qingming King’s interest; it turns out this was what he was waiting for," Chen Jiuge said with a wry smile.
It made sense when he thought about it. Although Qingming Ancient Country wasn’t a paramount power in the True Realm, it wasn’t insignificant either. A King would at least be a Heavenly Immortal Realm expert who had gathered the Three Flowers at the Peak and plucked the Tao Fruit of Longevity; how could he possibly be interested in mere Great Divine Power Realm fawns?
Should I hand over this Taiji Deer then? Chen Jiuge struggled internally.
Handing it over would undoubtedly draw the Qingming King’s attention. This had its pros and cons, the main issue being his own Cultivation was too low. Such nurturing methods were frankly a bit too extraordinary, especially since this was no low-grade Spiritual Beast, certainly not like some common, white-furred Spiritual Mouse.
"Alas, I’ll wait a bit longer. After all, my strength is still too lacking," Chen Jiuge sighed.
He intervened in the battle between the two beasts. Wufu, puffed up with anger, climbed onto Chen Jiuge’s shoulder, chattering continuously in the language of Spiritual Beasts. Considering its furious demeanor, it was probably swearing profusely.
The Taiji Deer opposite was leisurely nibbling on the lush Spirit Grass on the ground, seemingly unconcerned.
Chen Jiuge stroked his chin, remarking with some feeling, "This Taiji Deer really seems like a good-natured soul who doesn’t compete or contend."
Although it was just a jest, Chen Jiuge also understood that the Taiji Deer was not suited to be a combat Spiritual Beast. Its strength was quite good, but its temperament was too laid-back.
Walking back with the two beasts, Chen Jiuge suddenly saw Da Gu and Er Gu sparring. Never having witnessed the techniques of the Alien Race before, he immediately stopped to watch.
"Crude. So incredibly crude," Chen Jiuge frowned.
The two hailed from the Mountain people, an Alien Race where adults could grow up to ten feet tall, possessing Innate Divine Strength and bodies of Copper Skin Iron Bone. This configuration far surpassed that of Human Clan Cultivators, but their Spells and Divine Skills were severely lacking.
You throw a punch, I throw a punch; you kick, I kick back. It was like two small children fighting, completely failing to showcase their physical talents.
"Don’t you have any Cultivation Techniques?" Chen Jiuge interjected.
Only then noticing Chen Jiuge’s presence, the two immediately stopped and knelt, exclaiming, "Master."
Da Gu scratched his head. "Cultivation Technique? Is that for Cultivation? We’ve always cultivated like this, although the warriors in our tribe train a bit differently."
This answer was somewhat unexpected to Chen Jiuge.
Later, in a casual conversation with Da Gu and Er Gu, Chen Jiuge roughly understood the internal situation of the Mountain people.
Regarding the Mountain people race, one might hesitate to call them outright brutal. They didn’t cause much trouble, just had large appetites and ate a lot. Yet, one couldn’t say they weren’t brutal either, as when driven by extreme hunger, they would consume other Aliens, exhibiting somewhat cannibalistic traits.
Moreover, their societal hierarchy was extremely rigid. Individuals like Da Gu and Er Gu were merely ordinary farmers in their tribe, temporarily conscripted as fighters when their tribe was on the brink of annihilation.
The warriors in the tribe who truly mastered Cultivation methods were almost all nobles among the Mountain people. According to Da Gu and Er Gu’s descriptions, ordinary Mountain people lived worse than slaves, who could at least eat their fill and had fewer duties.
As for dignity, ordinary Mountain people within their tribe had little more than slaves; the situation for wildmen and barbarians was much the same.
"I see. Work hard, and if there’s a chance, I’ll get you a Cultivation Technique to practice."
"Thank you, Master."
Chen Jiuge’s words were not mere empty encouragement but the truth. The slavery industry in the True Realm was highly developed; even an ordinary person could control slaves with immense Cultivation levels.
It was said that a Secret Technique for controlling slaves was specifically developed by an unparalleled Great Power. Unfortunately, not long after the technique was created, this Great Power was deemed a thorn in the side by the Alien Race and was brutally killed in his own territory—a truly tragic death.
"Lord He, I wanted to ask about the Cultivation issues of the slaves under my command." Chen Jiuge took some time to visit the Treasure Pavilion and found He Lan, with whom he was fairly acquainted.
He Lan sneakily tucked a Heavenly Origin Realm Fire Spiritual Mouse into his sleeve and said with smiling, curved eyes, "Manager Chen, you’re too polite. You’re a first-class manager, much more capable than a mere messenger like myself. Just call me Lan."
