The Mighty Mage
Chapter 664 664: Justice Clan
"My dear child… I was so afraid. If anything had happened to you, I..." Her voice cracked.
Gu Jin gently held her hand. "Don't worry, Mom. I'm fine. I still have a long life ahead and many things to do."
Once in the dining room, the Gu family immediately surrounded Gu Jin and started catering to her needs.
Everyone moved busily around the large table, laying out plates and bowls filled with delicious food.
Gu Jin couldn't help but laugh at their hospitality as she looked at her parents and siblings' hardworking faces.
"You don't need to treat me like a porcelain doll," she said gently.
Gu Jichun rolled her eyes dramatically.
"How can we not? You've been in the wilderness for almost four months! Who knows what kind of strange food you were eating out there?"
Even Gu Jihu nodded in agreement, his brows furrowed in mock seriousness.
"Exactly! Look at you. You're so thin. I bet Long Yifan didn't even take care of you properly. He must have forgotten to feed you on time."
Hearing that, Long Yifan's expression darkened immediately. He crossed his arms and glared at Gu Jihu.
"You're accusing me for no reason. Gu Jin is slim because of her fast metabolism! It's not my fault!"
Gu Jin blinked, looking down at herself. For a second, she wondered if everyone around her had magical eyes.
"Are you all blind?" she muttered softly. "I've clearly gained some weight."
But the moment the rich aroma of the food filled the air, her thoughts disappeared.
The dishes, hot soup, fragrant rice, and spicy vegetables were all made with care.
Gu Jin sighed happily and started eating. "Mmm… this is amazing," she said, her eyes half-closed in contentment.
"Mother, Sister, I really missed your cooking."
Her mother's eyes softened. "Eat as much as you want. You must have suffered outside."
Gu Jin smiled. "A little. But it was worth it."
After a while, when her hunger had finally settled, Gu Jin wiped her lips with a cloth and looked up.
Gu Jichun was staring at her with puppy face and said, "Now tell us everything that had happened!"
Gu Jin laughed, seeing her eager expression.
"So much happened recently," she began slowly. "So this is how everything begins..."
With that, Gu Jin told them everything. From regaining her memories to becoming a god herself and slaying Chang Yin.
Her parents exchanged puzzled looks. "What?" her father asked. "What do you mean by 'slaying a god'? And what do you mean that you're from the Celestial Realm? Are you serious?"
Gu Jin's face turned calm. She looked at her family quietly before replying,
"It might sound strange, but yes. The truth is… all of you were my real family in the Celestial Realm."
Everyone froze.
"In that world," Gu Jin continued, "we belonged to a great family known as the Justice Clan. We were respected by gods and feared by demons. Our surname wasn't Gu, but Justice."
"Justice?" Gu Jihu repeated in disbelief.
Gu Jin nodded. "Yes. And our names were different, too. For example, my real name was Sunshine Justice."
The room fell silent.
Gu Jichun blinked and leaned forward. "Sunshine? Wait, that's your real name?"
Gu Jin chuckled, shaking her head. "Alright, fine. Your actual name was Stone Justice."
Gu Jihu immediately asked, "Then what about me?"
Gu Jin tapped her chin and grinned. "Your name was Moon Justice."
"Moon?!" he exclaimed. His jaw dropped as if the word itself was too heavy.
Mrs. Gu and Mr. Gu exchanged blank looks, completely speechless. Mrs. Gu sighed. "I don't think I even want to know what my name was."
Gu Jin burst into laughter, unable to stop herself. Tears formed at the corners of her eyes as she waved her hand.
"Alright, alright. I was just teasing you all. Don't take it so seriously."
Long Yifan shook his head with a helpless smile.
"She's bluffing again. The truth is, your names weren't Stone, Moon, or Sunshine. You all had proper names."
"Really?" Gu Jihu asked suspiciously.
"Yes," Long Yifan said calmly. "Her real name was Gabby Justice."
Gu Jin nodded with a pitiful expression and turned towards her father, "Why did you even name me Gabby? That almost sounds like cabbage!"
The family burst out laughing. The tension in the room finally eased.
After a moment of laughter, Gu Jin sighed and began to explain seriously.
"But what I said earlier about you being my family in the Celestial Realm is true. You all were souls from that world. After falling from the Celestial Realm, you were reborn here as mortals. That's why I always felt so close to you all."
The Gu family fell silent again, each member lost in thought.
Gu Jichun was the first to speak. "Then… does that mean I can also ascend one day? Can I become a god too?"
Gu Jin smiled softly.
"Yes. There's a chance. That's why Long Yifan and I plan to help you. We'll give you the resources you need so you can cultivate faster. If you reach a high enough level, you'll regain your memories and powers from the Celestial Realm."
Everyone's eyes lit up with excitement. The air was filled with hope and disbelief.
But then Gu Jishi, who had been quietly listening, raised an eyebrow. "Wait a second," he said.
"If the god was already slain, then how did that same god appear again to protect you? That doesn't make sense."
Gu Jin paused. A small smile played on her lips. "You're still as sharp as ever, Eldest brother."
She leaned back in her chair and explained,
"That god, the one who appeared, wasn't exactly the same one who died. Gods don't have fixed bodies. They are made of soul essence and can take any form they wish. They can appear as an animal, a human, or even as a gust of wind. The face you saw was just a projection, not the real appearance. Another god could easily use the same image."
Everyone nodded slowly, understanding dawning in their eyes.
"So that's why," Gu Jihu said, "no one doubted him. Because his face was familiar."
"Exactly."
Gu Jichun frowned. "Then… who was Lady Ling? Why did she help him?"
Gu Jin looked at her for a moment before answering. "Lady Ling was his wife."
The room went dead silent.
"His… wife?" Mrs. Gu whispered.
"Yes," Gu Jin said. "He sent her down to the mortal world to assist him. Together, they planned to eliminate me and Long Yifan because we threatened their son's position in the Celestial Realm. They thought that if we returned, their family would lose power."
Everyone stared in disbelief.
"So," Gu Jihu muttered, "the god used his own wife as a pawn just to protect his child's future?"
Gu Jin nodded. "Exactly. That's how selfish the Celestial Realm has become. It's full of deceit and betrayal."
Her father clenched his fists under the table. "That place sounds horrible."
Gu Jin sighed softly. "It is. That's why I don't plan to return. I've had enough of that realm. I'd rather stay here, live peacefully, and travel through different worlds when I get bored. I don't need their fake smiles or endless politics."
Her mother and father exchanged a long glance and finally nodded. "If that's what makes you happy," Mrs. Gu said quietly, "then we'll support you."
But deep inside, both parents were worried.
They knew the Celestial Realm would not let go so easily. Someone as powerful as Gu Jin, who now has the golden chains of justice, would always attract attention.
They made up their minds that night. If they ever got the chance to ascend again, they would do it.
They would become gods themselves, regain their memories, and protect Gu Jin and Long Yifan with their own strength.
Unaware of her parents' silent vow, Gu Jin continued chatting and laughing with her siblings.
At that moment, Long Yifan glanced around the table and frowned slightly. "By the way," he said suddenly, "where's my sister?"
Her sister, too, was a god, but she became a mortal to protect him.
Everyone fell quiet. The cheerful atmosphere dimmed slightly.
After a long pause, Gu Jihu cleared his throat and answered carefully, "She's… resting in her room."
"Resting?" Long Yifan's tone sharpened. "Why? What happened to her?"
Gu Jihu hesitated, looking at everyone before speaking softly. "She's… pregnant."
The word hung in the air like a stone dropping into water.
Long Yifan's eyes widened. The light in them turned dark and cold. His voice dropped to a low growl. "What did you just say?"
Gu Jihu swallowed nervously. "She's pregnant."
The table fell into heavy silence. The warm glow of the lamps flickered, casting shadows on Long Yifan's sharp face.
His fists tightened slowly on the table. The room seemed to grow colder. Everyone could feel the change in his aura... calm on the outside, but dangerous underneath.
He turned his piercing gaze toward Gu Jihu. "Explain," he said quietly. "Now."
