The Mute Wife Who Brings Prosperity
Chapter 126 - 125: You Have to Help Me with Something
CHAPTER 126: CHAPTER 125: YOU HAVE TO HELP ME WITH SOMETHING
Wen Wan was momentarily stunned when she heard Song Wei say this.
Back then, she woke up from a high fever with a damaged voice, almost turning Father Wen’s hair white with worry. Her father tried everything to gather money to hire doctors for her, but all the doctors said that since she was young and the fever was too severe, there was basically no possibility of a cure.
Father Wen didn’t want her to suffer, so he invited several more doctors, but got the same answer. In the end, he had no choice but to give up.
Over the years, Wen Wan had gotten used to being unable to speak and never thought that one day someone would bring up the issue of treating her voice again.
But looking at her husband’s serious expression, Wen Wan felt a sweet warmth in her heart.
Seeing Wen Wan’s reaction, Song Wei knew his little wife probably thought he was just trying to make her happy.
Smiling, Song Wei said, "You can’t speak, so I’ll take it as your consent."
Wen Wan snapped out of her thoughts and shook her head repeatedly, insisting not to hire anyone. They had already hired so many doctors in the past who couldn’t cure her; hiring anyone now would just be a waste of money.
Song Wei held her slightly cool hand in his palm to warm it, speaking softly, "Not an ordinary doctor, I’ll get you a Divine Doctor."
Wen Wan looked at him, a Divine Doctor? In the Capital where her husband was unfamiliar with everything, where would he find a Divine Doctor?
"Little sister-in-law, the dumplings are wrapped, when should we cook them?"
Song Fang’s voice from outside interrupted what Song Wei was about to say. He let go of Wen Wan, stood up, and went out.
Song Fang knew that her third brother was probably in the kitchen, so she didn’t dare to come in earlier to disturb, afraid of seeing something she shouldn’t. Seeing Song Wei come out, she hummed and said, "Third brother, why can’t you wait until the door’s closed at night to talk? I’ve been busy all day, I’m tired and hungry, and you don’t even care about your little sister."
Wen Wan came out with the kettle and happened to hear this, her face blushing with shyness.
Song Wei ignored Song Fang, took the kettle from Wen Wan’s hand, and spoke softly, "Give it to me, I’ll make the tea myself."
Wen Wan let go, dared not even glance at Song Fang, turned around, and returned to the kitchen to continue boiling water and prepare to cook the dumplings.
——
Song Wei got up especially early the next day and didn’t go inside the Imperial College, just stood outside the gate.
Xu Shu appeared out of nowhere from behind, giving him a heavy pat on the shoulder, raising his eyebrows high, "Are you waiting for me?"
Song Wei was indeed waiting specifically for Xu Shu here, but he didn’t admit it verbally, instead directly asking him, "You said yesterday, what do you want me to help you with?"
Xu Shu widened his eyes, staring at Song Wei like he’d seen a ghost.
No way? Not seen for a night, has this aloof guy come around? Or is he showing his true colors now?
Xu Shu scratched his head, frowning in disbelief at the collapse of Song Wei’s usual demeanor.
Song Wei didn’t say more, just looked at him with a calm gaze that made Xu Shu’s mind uneasy.
Afraid that the aloof guy might back out, Xu Shu quickly said, "Help me write an article, and you can name your price."
Yesterday, he had been waiting outside the Imperial College to grab someone, thinking that these new 贡生 were top students from various places, writing an article should be no problem. Moreover, most 贡生 came from impoverished families; with enough payment, it was hard to believe they wouldn’t be tempted. Who would have thought he’d run into someone as aloof as Song Wei, ending up defeated and stifled!
"What kind of article?" Song Wei asked.
"It’s not for those old guys in the Imperial College, it’s to deal with my soon-to-be-home Great General father. You decide how to write it. Oh, by the way, I’m a first-year student, so don’t write anything too profound! My dad’s not that cultured, and I’m even worse than him. If you write something he can’t understand, he’ll definitely suspect I hired someone to help."
"Just one article?" Song Wei asked again.
Seeing the expression on Song Wei’s face, Xu Shu knew there was room for negotiation. He laughed awkwardly and said, "If you could help me write two or three articles each month from now on, that would be even better."
Song Wei thought for a moment and said, "I can help you with the first article, but I won’t help with the ones after that. However, I can tutor you, on the condition that you help me with something."
