CHAPTER 15: CHAPTER 15: THE WEDDING (PART 3)

After paying homage to heaven and earth, Wen Wan was escorted into the bridal chamber and seated on the wedding bed.

Song Wei took the balance beam tied with red silk and slowly lifted the bridal veil off her head.

Aunt Xie, the Xie Family cousin-in-law, Song Fang, and several women from the Song Family were standing aside watching. Under the veil, the bride was verdant and tender, with bright and clear eyes.

Though she still had traces of innocence, she was clearly a budding beauty.

Because of the sudden exposure to light, her thick curled eyelashes quivered slightly, like a startled little white rabbit.

This young girl exuded a delicate and gentle aura, urging others to handle with care.

If Wen Wan were to tell everyone at this moment that she was the one who had actively asked Song Wei to marry her, most would find it hard to believe.

After all, such a face was too deceptive.

She felt embarrassed under everyone’s gaze and was at a loss when she heard Song Wei’s low voice at her ear, "Are you hungry?"

Feeling shy, Wen Wan nodded. Before coming, her aunt had told her that a bride shouldn’t eat freely at her parental home on the day of her wedding, so she hadn’t eaten anything since morning.

Song Wei smiled, "After we tie the hair and drink the wedding wine, we’ll go out for dinner."

In small places, weddings aren’t as elaborate as those in the city; after paying respects, entering the bridal chamber, and lifting the veil, the bride must come out to toast with the guests, whether she can drink or not.

Wen Wan looked up at Song Wei.

Starting today, he would be her husband, with a handsome and mature face. His deep, serene eyes reflected the candlelight, becoming much softer, causing one’s heart to gently ripple.

Wen Wan blinked, discreetly withdrawing her gaze, trying not to reveal any signs of instability.

The women beside had seen the bride, and had already left to eat with laughter.

Xie Tao couldn’t wait and rushed to the outside of the bridal chamber with a few people, urging the groom to accompany them for drinks.

Song Wei ignored them, turned around, and opened the wardrobe.

With his back to Wen Wan, his tall frame and broad shoulders were evident; when he rummaged through things, he rolled up his sleeves, revealing slightly protruding wrist bones, full of vigor.

Inexplicably, he seemed to have great strength.

Wen Wan sat quietly and watched him find a cotton jacket she had worn at her parental home.

"Spring nights are chilly, change into this before going out."

Song Wei handed the cotton jacket to her, then knowingly pushed open the door and strode out over the threshold, "I’ll be waiting for you outside."

Wen Wan took off her slightly thin wedding dress top and put on the water-red cotton jacket.

When she stepped out, sure enough, Song Wei was still waiting outside.

It was dusk, and there were two strings of big red lanterns lit outside the bridal chamber, illuminating the courtyard with festivity.

Not yet accustomed to how to interact with her husband alone, Wen Wan pulled a smile at the corners of her mouth to show that she was ready.

Song Wei’s gaze shifted from her face to her hands, seemingly unable to see clearly due to the light. He proactively took her hand, examined it in his palm, and saw that her originally rough hands had improved, only then did his brows relax and he released her, "Let’s go!"

Wen Wan realized that he had been checking whether she had remembered to apply the antifreeze cream at her parental home.

Warmed at heart, Wen Wan stepped forward to follow him.

At the banquet, upon seeing Song Sanlang’s new bride, the men, young and old, were all wide-eyed.

Everyone knew Wen Wan didn’t speak much, but what she looked like, the men weren’t as privy as the women, naturally making it hard for them to see.

Even though the Xie brothers had laid eyes on Wen Wan when the betrothal gift was given, today they were fiercely stunned by her beauty.

Damn! This little sister-in-law was incredibly alluring; fortunately, she didn’t speak much, losing some charm, otherwise, if she were to talk, the third cousin might not be able to handle her.

Wen Wan had learned to drink at home, but her drinking capacity wasn’t large, so most of the time, Song Wei shielded her during toasts.

In rural places, entertainment is sparse, it’s rare for the Song family to arrange such a grand banquet, the lively atmosphere persisted, and it wasn’t until late at night that the guests gradually departed.
