The Necromancer's Fourth Catastrophe
Chapter 40: Giving You a Chance
CHAPTER 40: CHAPTER 40: GIVING YOU A CHANCE
Iron Black Pot grinned: "Isn’t this more convenient?"
"And hunting a living creature, you’d have to kill it and then extract the fat, what’s the difference? Not much difference at all."
"It’s just buried for a while, not very long, no big deal. This kind of pointless mental purity needs to be overcome."
"Of course, the corpse might have been dug up and eaten by other beasts. If that’s the case, I’ll hunt another one."
"Alright, Parrot, let’s get to work."
The group went their separate ways, off to do their own tasks.
After the Caged Parrot and Iron Black Pot left the lake, the Caged Parrot curiously spoke up:
"Black Pot, didn’t you say earlier that after making bows and arrows, you’d use them to trade with other players."
"Get them to run errands for you and complete tasks like gathering Magic Potion?"
"So, why now?"
Iron Black Pot patted the Caged Parrot’s shoulder: "These players ahead of everyone else must have their merits. They’ll surely do well in the future."
"Showing goodwill now, taking the chance to have them owe a favor and build good relationships."
"The gains will surely be bigger later, this is an investment in favors."
"By the way, after spending time with you, I’ve noticed you rarely talk with other players, and your occasional chats often kill the conversation, yet you’re familiar with all sorts of bad jokes online..."
"Parrot, you hardly interact with people in real life, right?"
The Caged Parrot was silent for a moment, then slowly nodded.
Iron Black Pot reached out and patted the Caged Parrot on the shoulder: "Hehe, luckily I can talk a lot, create topics out of thin air, able to chat with you."
"Rare to find you pleasing, just stick with me, I’ll make you look cool and take you high, take you into clouds."
The Caged Parrot glanced at Iron Black Pot: "Isn’t it a garbage pile?"
Iron Black Pot immediately shook his head: "How could that be? With my skills, if I can’t get into a cloud pile, then at least I can get into a flower pile."
The Caged Parrot glanced down: "Black Pot and wood ash heap are a perfect match."
Iron Black Pot shrugged: "Hehe, fine, then I’ll take you into a wood ash heap."
...
Sunshine pierced through the darkness, dawn arrived, Grandpa Qian of Bone-Touching and Mr. Zhou returned first.
When they came back, there was a group of people with them.
This group was the batch of players who just reached Level 2.
These players, upon reaching Level 2, thought first of finding the first batch of Level 2 players and cooperating with them after accepting the team tasks.
So they started looking around, and the location of the Red Iron Ore was naturally the first place to consider.
Very quickly, Grandpa Qian of Bone-Touching and Mr. Zhou were found by two players at the Red Iron Ore.
Then the two notified the other players, resulting in the current scene.
Apart from Mr. Zhou and Grandpa Qian of Bone-Touching, other players also brought over a lot of Red Iron Ore.
This led to having way too much Red Iron Ore.
What he needed now was just for the experiment’s improvement, requiring very little Red Iron Ore.
However, if the blast furnace can be fully improved later and formal iron refining begins, the demand for Red Iron Ore will undoubtedly increase greatly.
So Mr. Zhou didn’t mind players bringing extra Red Iron Ore.
Mr. Zhou glanced around and noticed that he didn’t see Hand Rubbing Diamonds or the three of Iron Black Pot.
He turned his gaze to Grandpa Qian of Bone-Touching beside him: "Looks like the corpse Black Pot buried was eaten by other beasts, otherwise they should’ve been back by now."
Grandpa Qian of Bone-Touching gently nodded, noncommittally: "He must have been in a hurry to level up, couldn’t have buried it deeply, a quick bury, getting found and eaten by beasts is very normal."
"Forget it, let’s not worry about him for now. Let’s start a fire here to dry the yellow mud for the blast furnace experiment." As he spoke, Mr. Zhou stood up and called to the other players, and a group started to get busy.
An hour later, Iron Black Pot and the Caged Parrot returned.
Iron Black Pot handed Mr. Zhou the things he needed, and then started to help.
Until noon, Hand Rubbing Diamonds returned as well: "Thankfully, the game’s landscape isn’t much different from reality."
The things everyone needed were finally almost all prepared.
Mr. Zhou observed the state of the blast furnace experiment and then said, "I’ve looked it over, we should be able to test it by evening."
"During this time, we should work on making the manpower bellows."
As he said this, Mr. Zhou’s gaze swept afar.
"Fatty Orange still hasn’t reached Level 2? That’s a bit slow."
"Forget it, let’s wait a bit longer, we can’t let resources go unused."
As dusk approached, another batch of players who’d reached Level 2 found their way there.
Among them was the Chubby Orange Cat.
Seeing the Chubby Orange Cat, Mr. Zhou’s eyes lit up and he hurriedly approached.
"Fatty Orange, you came at the right time, just when there’s something that needs you to do, it’s time to put your skills to use."
The Chubby Orange Cat looked at Mr. Zhou in confusion and then swept his eyes around: "There are so many players here, what specifically needs me?"
Mr. Zhou coughed lightly: "It’s like this, we need a bellows, the manpower type, ideally made with steel."
"But we clearly don’t have that capability at the moment, so I’d like you to replace it with wood, make wooden gears, wooden structure."
"I believe you can handle this, although a wooden bellows would certainly have a poor lifespan, and the wind power couldn’t compare to a normal manpower bellows, but it can be used temporarily."
"And I’m currently improving the blast furnace, I just happen to need less wind power."
The Chubby Orange Cat instinctively took a step back: "Whoa, you keep giving me these hell-level difficulties to work on."
Mr. Zhou walked over, reached out and wrapped his arm around the Chubby Orange Cat’s shoulder: "How can you say it like that? With your skills, isn’t this just a piece of cake for you?"
"Haven’t you already accepted team tasks? This all contributes to the team tasks, you can’t shirk off."
The Chubby Orange Cat gave Mr. Zhou a speechless look: "Surely there are other alternatives, right?"
Mr. Zhou’s palm gently patted the Chubby Orange Cat’s shoulder: "I’m giving you a chance here, a chance to contribute, the more you contribute to the team, the bigger share you get from the reward pool."
"Such a good opportunity, seeing how well we get along, I’ve left it for you, are you sure you don’t want it?"
The Chubby Orange Cat hesitated for a while and then gritted his teeth: "Alright, I’ll give it a try, it’ll probably take quite some time."
